whats wrong with my proc? even orthos blend stress with priority 9 at stock clock 1.35vcore is giving error.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

If you fail prime at stock speed, its means that there is nothing wrong with proc. Start looking elsewhere.. Like...

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jul 25 2007, 12:12 AM)
Just finished setting up my new rig. Remember when we were wondering whether the E6x50 series were giving wrong core temperature?

Well, I didn't have time to test it fully yet but it looks like some apps are giving inaccurate temp.

On my E6750 + stock heatsink + GA-P35-DS3:
Core temp (v0.94) at load (orthos) : 43'c
Easytune5 at load (orthos) : 49'c

The Easytune5 app came with the mobo. It is consistently registering 6'c higher than core temp.

I remember irenic's E6850 giving a load temp of 51'c at 4.0Ghz (stock heatsink) which I thought a bit too low.

Anybody can confirm this? What CPU temp monitoring apps are you all using for the E6x50 series? Wanna get the core temperature correct first before I start to overclock this baby.....  laugh.gif

Going to test with other apps (e.g. speedfan) tomorrow after work......
*
If u not sure which app is more accurate, always trust the one that record higher temp smile.gif

Anyway, I am quite sure that coretemp got problem detecting the correct temp for E6*50 proc. Anyway, I am using Asus Probe II

@raymond

Nice result.. My proc cant do that. Probably need more testing. Hehe..

Quite obvious that DFI > P5K Deluxe in Mhz but lost out in ram timing. Sigh

Some result I obtained from quick benching on my Asus P5K Deluxe as requested by some buyer.

YEap no suprise, G0 is capable of it. furthermore he's on water, probably able to hit that with a super duper HSF too.
*
Errr... You are only half correct about the proc and cooling. Though, cooling is very important but a good mobo is needed also to achieve that. So far I cant reach that speed and stablity with any of my mobo I tested before.

OC as a profession? must be starving for voltage and TIM everyday lol

anyone using DFi P35 board already? interested to see the real OC result. 8phase digital PWM in action
*
Those digital PWM is seriously over rated. When you going for extreme oc and high vcore, you will prefer analog as it is more stable.

QUOTE(remysix @ Aug 7 2007, 10:56 AM)
does this board picky like the Dark? really sux if it does, well at least for some...
*
From what I read, seems that DFI have solved those picky problem but we'll never know for sure unless its had been tested by any normal user

@max_87

What is ur processor Batch Code? E6850 proc can reach 4ghz easily even with air cooling. Not to mention that you are using IP35-Pro.

Btw, with 27~28C ambient temp... Full load temp for E6850 @ 3.9ghz shouldnt exceed 50'C under WC. Time to upgrade your WC set. Hehe..

I don't remember. Yes, but most are not Prime95 stable. To me, SuperPI/3DMark/suicide/etc runs don't count tongue.gif

Where did you get your temperature reading? smile.gif If it's from your mainboard's sensor, then it's not comparable to mine  sweat.gif My friend's Fuzion/MCR320/MCP655 is around 5C better than this outdated setup, readings from IP35 Pro, same mainboard. So the temperature can still exceed 50C if you are talking about readings from Abit IP35 Pro's sensor.

I couldn't afford a new watercooling set, so no upgrading rolleyes.gif
*
Its depends on which batch your proc. My L720A can prime at 4ghz (1.46vcore).

I think your proc is under those hotter e6850 batch. From what I tested, there is some or I should say most e6850 is cool even under load but some proc like the one I am using now is belongs to hotter ver. 5-10'c higher than those cool ver. That's why, i ask for your batch code.

i thought OEM only 3 months warranty?

anyway, tried with my Anny (the person i love also call Anny sweat.gif) at extreme 2.6vdimm and it can do 4-4-4-10 1200MHz,compared to coolice koko his ballistix only need 2.55 while doing the same setting,so these handpicked chipset got a little bit doubt.... hmm.gif

anyway,yes,P965 is hotter a lot,my P35 only 30c. rclxms.gif
*
OEM warranty much depends on the company that distribute it. Some give 3 months, some give 1 year but most of it DOA Warranty only.

Anyway, it is not a fair comparision between coolice PC8000 Ballistix and your anny (gay name smile.gif). Hehe.. Though anny is a handpicked D9GMH ram but its using much higher bin timing than PC8000. e.g. PC8000 using 2.0ns bin and PC8500 using 1.8ns(1.86ns to be exact) bin. The reasoning is the lower the bin timing the better the ram will clock especially at high clock like DDR2 1200 above.

Most of the E6600 is either 1.325 or 1.35. You can check this using Coretemp... The VID Reading is ur default proc vcore.

My second run on my newly bought Retail E8400.

4ghz at 1.37vcore (I believe can go lower than this). Using Gigabyte P35-DS3L. Stable at least while posting this. Haha.. Temp: 33'C Full load on WC.

Cool! So the penryn has no problems running on the P35?

What's the stock vcore for the 8400?
*
Should be no problem... Most P35 board can support penryn provided the manufacturer released a new bios for it.

Not too sure for the stock vcore. The proc spec is not available at intel website yet. But it is written on the box. 1.225vcore.

My stock vcore is lower.

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Jan 7 2008, 08:31 AM)
there's rumour saying that penryn quadcore got issue with current p35 board.
should be q9xxx series.
*
It is a false claim by some AMD fanboys.. When P35 can support QX9650, I cant see the point why its cannot support those normal Quad.

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jan 7 2008, 09:20 AM)

QUOTE(IcEMoCHa @ Jan 7 2008, 10:00 AM)
wth.. 1.375vcore @ 4ghz ...
*
I think most wolfdale can do that. With proper board and ram, close one eye can reach 4.5ghz on Air.. See coolice testing.

My result is considered lousy.

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Jan 7 2008, 11:10 AM)
Does anyone knows between E8400 and E8500, which is a better overclocker?
*
I think noone can answer that since E8500 is not available in the market yet. But since E8500 have a higher multipler, the chances of better clock is greatly increased.

QUOTE(IcEMoCHa @ Jan 7 2008, 12:47 PM)
multiplier same ah?... maybe its like e6600 and e6750...
*
No... E8500 have a higher multipler.

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 7 2008, 07:21 PM)
by the way bro irangan, the wolfsdale E8*** which has the same clock as the E6750 but a higher cache, is it better than E6750, without taking count to the 45-65nm difference in architecture. Would it be alright to run the e6750.. ? Do u find any difference whatsoever?
*
Actually, E8400 is sharing the clock as E6850 and not E6750. Basically, you wont feel the difference in daily usage between E6850 and E8400 unless during benchmark. But the thing that you will notice is the lower idle/load temp and its can clock much much better.

Not to mention, the freaking cheap price compare to E6850.

QUOTE(irenic @ Jan 7 2008, 07:29 PM)
wee great clock~

like many said, penryn retail shud be a lil bit better than the ES one.. so how jeff.. any dry ice on ur new proc? biggrin.gif
*
A lousy clock if u ask me... Serious limitation from my board. But cant whine much since it is a retirement rig sad.gif.. Fast fast go and get one and show me the true potential.

About that, we cant say my retail one is better than coolice's ES cuz his proc can go at least 4.7ghz on air cooling. I dont think so... coolice will get one himself soon. hahaha
