just wanna ask whats the current price for a PS3 60GB set now?

i'm in japan right now, just walked into takashimaya dept store and saw 60GB PS3 going for rm2k. just wondering whats the price diff with mallaysia for a Japan PS3?

how about warranty? how long from shops in KL? and oh yeah, the warranty given by the shops in KL is just from the local shop? not officialy from sony right? i wonder if sony malaysia will cover warranty if i buy from japan.

and sorry for the noob question, but are the games still region locked like PS2? meaning i cant play US/EU games on the Japan PS3? or its region free now??

RM2k? Thats quite expensive. Malaysia dont hv official PS3 releases, so dont hv warranty. Here, in KL can get around RM1500.
Since u at Japan, why don't u go to Akihabara.

I bought mine for 1.5K (console only, no controller) early this month for HK Asian set. The controller is quite cheap, you can get around RM120-RM165. For me, I got it for free.

Arj just bought his HK Asian set for RM1.7k (console + 1 controller) from Sg Wang last Saturday.

Both are 60G PS3.

ok, just got back from japan. i cheapest i got for a PS3 was around 1.5k. for the bundled set with the golf game was closer to 1.9/2.0k.

so since m'sia price is not far away, tot might as well get here. at least can burn the shop if the console spoil

i also saw nintendo Wii for rm800. was tempted to get, but then ps3 kept overiding. eheheh.

PS3 was quoted for rm2.7k
Wii was RM1.3k for Japan set, 1.7k for US set.

well as far as i know the price has already dropped, coz sony wants to get rid of the 60GB model...they're not gonna sell that no more, only the 80GB model from now on, you can check on US or JAP websites to c how much they price it...good luck with your hunting

you can get cheaper in akihabara. there are lots of shops selling 2nd hand ps3 and wii and 360 there also. checkout bic camera also. wii is quite cheap. around 25000yen. cheap laa since it's like 250 inggit if you live in japan and earn yen.

I can say cheapest in Taiwan is NTS16800 = RM1.7k. And Hong Kong maybe around RM 1.7k also. Taiwan has 2 version og the 60GB, one is CECHA07-K and another is CECHA07. I see the spec all same, except one is cheaper by about RM 100

If im not mistaken the 80 GB cant play PS2 games. (correct me if im wrong)

wow thats pretty expensive. I bought mine 5 months ago for RM 2100 (60 GB) and that includes a game (motorstorm) and a HDMI cable. The price for the machine alone should have dropped below 1500 by now.

if m not mistaken,80GB is not for our region.y bother buying 80GB??u can always change ur hard disk to a bigger size..

U still can ( original of course ) but harder than the older version of the console since they've omitted the PS2 chip and went for software emulation only.

-Asia model (Singapore)
-2 ori controller
-2 ori game (can choose, but limited selection)
-no official warranty

Those who heard of RM1500 please double confirm what is in the package before really buying as it may not be the entire package. u may need to top up some $ to get the controllers or the game.

as for the 80GB model, my understanding is it is not 100% compatible with PS2 game. I know the 60GB model has built in PS2 graphic chip to enable playing of PS2 game. 80GB has no such chip but rely on emulation of PS3 chip to play PS2 game, thus may not be 100% compatible. But do note not all PS2 games are compatible with 60GB too, but mostly yes.

My fren just bought a PS3 from Bernard, price was RM1680 for 1 controller and Asia Console!

Seem to me the price not much big different than the time i bought mine
RM2200++ for 2 ORI controller, Asia Console, 2 ORI game!!! half year ago!

its kinda lame that the seller doesn't include it in the package, they should know that by adding up all the games and controllers, the price didn't change much at all !

I wouldn't need an extra controller and 2 crappy games for a hefty price tag. 1 console and 1 controller is good enough and just buy games that we really like to play. The latest I've heard was RM1400 selling in Sg Wang, I bought for RM1.5k at Sg Wang 3 months ago.

Even if you buy a SG unit also no point unless you're staying in JB like rx. What I mean is, you still have to pay to those shops the postage fee and they'll charge like hell to do so. Same case like X360. This is my point of view and might be not agree to all. The worst case scenario for PS3 right now is the lens problem which can be solved easily.
