Just saw pricing for PS3 in Singapore. SG$799 free on sixaxis controller. 80GB version. Is that a good buy? Or should I stay put and see if a holiday bundle makes its way here come December?

Check the package. Some comes with games, extra controller etc but RM2500 is way inflated. Probably will give you some crap reason about 60Gb the only one having Emotion.

Cheapest so far I've got for 80GB is RM1720 or RM1830 (with extra controller).

60GB has Emotion, 80GB doesnt have it, it uses an emulator I believe.

One is from Japan while the other is probably Singapore or Hong Kong?

And the warranty claim of course. I believe those are the major differences.

Eh Malaysia is Region 1? Shouldn't we be Region 3?

PS3 games are region free so it can come from Timbuktu and you will still be able to play it. I doubt the PS3 will ship with new DS3 controllers after November but I could be wrong.

NTSC-J versions. Cant remember what region is that. Probably 2, I think US is Region 1.

If it works the same way as 360, you will probably need an official receipt from a shop based in Singapore.

Unlike Microsoft, where they dont hve official Sony Centres to sell their products, you cna usually claim warranty as long as you prove it came from somewhere within the official country.

I guess Sony being a retail outlet themselves, will only provide official warranty to those bought from Sony Centres.

Like the PSP here la..buying from Sungei Wang still wont give you official warranty from Sony Msia.

There is a piece of paper inside ur PS3 package that gives you the URL to register your PS3.

Not teh same as PSN.
