QUOTE(taqu @ Feb 17 2019, 10:30 AM) TP-Link WDR4300 doesn's support AC Wifi. Wired speed, I'm not sure why it can't get 500mbps when TP-Link claims it can support upto 800mbps. Have you updated the firmware? yes, it's only a n750 router. on paper its max wifi speed: 5GHz: 450Mbps; 2.4GHz: 300Mbps, hence 750 but those are irrelevant because i am on wired connection. it has 4 gigabit LAN ports.

QUOTE(zangief @ Feb 17 2019, 09:46 AM) upgraded to 500Mbps but max speed i could get over wifi 2.4g is only around 120Mbps. 5g under 100... alcatel btu + tplink wdr4300 + tl-wdn4800 pci. yesterday bought 30m of cat6 cable to test wired speed but only manage to get around 250Mbps. is there anything wrong with the router because i think it should be capable to deliver 500Mbps over wired connection. or 30m is too long for that speed? was thinking of hire a handyman over to do a wired connection from router to pc room upstairs but now i have 2nd thought. i figure that would be cheaper than upgrade to a high end router + pci card. if i'll have to upgrade for full speed even on wired then i might as well go wireless right? any advice? thanks in advance. Looks like time to upgrade. Similar routers with the same CPU, AR9344, has a max routing speed of 300-400Mbps. 250Mbps IRL for you sounds reasonable.

Doesn’t matter that it has gigabit LAN ports. It is throttled by its old hardware as I say. Get a better router with newer and better hardware, and you will be okay.

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Feb 17 2019, 10:49 AM) I thought tm already said after 2 years no increase? It depends. If discount is perpetual then there should be no change. If discount is 24mths then it may increase in 2 years.

Was just about to buy the Asus GT-5300 but the Asus seller recommend to go for the Asus GT-Ax11000. Anyone here already bought it? Hows the performance?

Yup, it's great. Better interference mitigation than GT-AC5300. I not sure what magic Asus done, the range is slightly better than GT-AC5300 as well. If you got the budget to push for GT-AC5300, might as well get the GT-AX11000 for future proof. Many leaks have confirmed many flagship level devices this year will support Wireless AX. It will bring significant performance boost.

What's the pricing like for the GT-AX11000? Several months ago was told the firmware isn't quite matured and stable yet but things could have changed by now.

QUOTE(orangutan @ Feb 13 2019, 11:32 AM) Just curious, does the tower assist / act as a giant antenna? Or was the intention to create the tower to elevate the router so it will be closer to the upper level? not sure but i know i got full bar for 2.4GHz and 5GHz for ground and upper floor

Update: They're making a report to be sent to the respective team. Hopefully will get the discount to RM189. It is going to be a interesting conversation with live chat and doing it for my friend. Should have said RM159 instead of RM189 Oh well, the report has been made. It'll be updated in a few days time. Dang, My home unifi for 100Mbps is RM99 and you're getting 500Mbps for RM99 is really a big discount. If I'm not mistaken, the price is around RM104.95 including SST? Then they will ask you to show proof of the account paying RM159/189 which no one is willing to show for fear their pricing get adjusted to normal. No proof means case close usually.
