I'm traveling tomorrow. Would like to know is it advisable to reserve the haruka+icoca card from their website or I should just buy on the spot when i arrive kansai airport.

Any difference in the process/time if I reserve in advance?

Hi everyone,

I just want to ask if you are NOT skiing, can you ride the chairlift up to the peak? (Referring to the ski resorts at Hakuba Valley, Shiga Kogen, and Ryuoo Ski Resort at Yudanaka).

Can you ride the chairlift up there, snap photos, then ride down later without skiing?
*
NOrmally yes. You can go to their homepage and check the package. Most have the lift package where you can go up to play snow. The ski package might take you higher up the slope and you need to play more. Most skier will just take the lift up and ski down. As the lift is moving in a loop you can take the lift down too, but most probably you dont see people doing it.

Hi there,

Anyone tried renting a car using jalan.net ?

Very hesitate to click book but the price difference is too much

When I stay there I normallly booked hotel via jalan.net but not car though. Very reliable page and last time it only caters to resident in Japan.

Just a small note here. Non skiers can normally take gondola 🚡 type lifts both up and down the mountain, but chair-type lifts are usually off limits (and even for skiers vast majority of chairlifts you won’t be allowed to sit down the slope, LLST need to ski down).

Of course there are exceptions and it depends on mountain but I’d say most resorts have one or two main gondolas that go up and end at a building of some sort with restaurant/cafeteria, viewing deck, an area to walk around and maybe even sledding or snow play areas for kids.

Ticket wise I think most resorts also allow you to buy a “return ticket” which should be quite cheaper than the daily passes the skiers and snowboarders use.

Um, yes, quite a number of your listed attractions are in totally different locations/areas. Perhaps you could use Google Maps to see where those attractions you listed in your itinerary are located. Then rearrange them based on the area. It will be easier for people to offer advice or suggestions to your itinerary.

Well, not about the sunrise but about the timing... I cannot wake up at 5.00 a.m. to go out even it is already bright out there.
When I was in Europe, the sun went off at 10 p.m. and came out at 4.00 a.m., I still didn't go out so early la.. sweat.gif

Guys, I will be travelling to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Himeji, Osaka area soon.
By reading around, landing at KIX I will buy ICOCA +haruka pass to travel around.

My question, is ICOCA alone suffice to travel around the location I visit? Or is there other bus/train pass I need to buy?

ICOCA is an IC card like our touch & go card
haruka pass is a 1 way express train ticket to kyoto station

if u owned a IC card like pasmo or suica, u don't need ICOCA
and there are other mode of transportation in KIX to go where u wanted to go too

You can probably do the loop in Nara.
Kofukuji > Yoshikien > Todaiji > Kasuga Taisha > Naramachi

Ginkakuji should be nice in autumn, do it at the start of your northern Higashiyama route and make your way down to Nanzenji.

I'm planning to reach Fushimi ard 7 on a weekday, not super early I know but hopefully will not be too bad.

Oh and if you have a free evening, can check this out - https://flowers.naked.works/2019nijo-jo/

I already bought my tickets online haha!

Hi, may i know which portal you used to buy your ticket online?

I see the registration in japanese i pening rclxub.gif

Based on my understanding via Rakuten, after i pay via credit card, I still need to collect the ticket from 7-11 or FamMart with additional charges?

I also having problem entering my chinese name as full width kanji in Rakuten purchase page and it doesn't accept romanji character cry.gif

Yep I used Rakuten to buy and the physical tickets have to be picked up from 7-11.
There was a surcharge of 100 Yen pp I think.
My bro did this for me sweat.gif

Wanna ask you whether a buttock pad is important as a knee pad for skiing?

Don’t need any protective gear for skiing (other than helmet, but even then I don’t bother lol). Knee pads butt pads elbow pads etc all no point one.

For snowboarding then maybe cos you fall on your butt and knees a lot and it could hurt after a while.
