Hi guys just need some opinion here from all the seniors here.
Im gonna travel to osaka next year mid of january and when i reach kansai airport it will be around 9.40pm night.

1) So im just dilemma wherther i should stay a night at the nearest hotel from airport or head directly to osaka city hotel ?

2) Second question is im thinking if i stay at the hotel near to kansai airport then i should direct to kyoto in the next morning to start my itinerary in kyoto first and save osaka for the last.

3) And lastly can i just stay osaka for my 8 days trips and travel conveneintly to kyoto and nara ?

Any recommendation ? Thanks alot.

So which of the following plan is recommended as im currently drafting my itinerary ?

A. 2 days in Osaka -> 3 days in Kyoto and Nara -> 2 days in Osaka
B. 4 days in kyoto and Nara -> 3 days in Osaka (provided i head straight to Kyoto in the next morning after arrive in Kansai so i will just stay my first night in Osaka)
C. 3 days in Osaka -> 4 days in Kyoto and Nara (last day take the train from kyoto to Kansai airport)

Sorry this is the first time travel to Japan (2 pax) and landed in Kansai airpport at 9.40 night really make me headache.

If you want to play it safe, try booking transfer service from klook or kkday if you have a bunch of people with you.
For my case, i have 8 person and i secured a van via klook for around RM700 straight to my destination

Other than that, feel free to take the train (might need to rush if you delay occured)

IMHO, the best roaming deal would be from Digi's Rm25 for 72 hour roaming pass which includes 2GB data and 30 Mins free roaming calls.

Its because you use your phone to tether your internet.  If you use it like you do in Malaysia, battery usage would be the same. Anyway, it saves you the hassle of getting a new sim card in the airport and the need to carry another phone to use that sim card with. I always use Digi and UMobile roaming whenever I travel. UMobile roaming is cheap too, Rm10/day unlimited roaming but Japan is not included.

Yes. My Oneplus 6 needs to be charged twice a day (from morning till need) if used to tether. If not, battery life would be around the same as per usage in MY. Anyway, would be best to try to bring a newer phone for usage in Japan as their 4G/LTE network is really fast and their coverage is superb.

Just get the sim, i encountered lots of issue with pocket wifi previously.
Device not working, not charging etc ...  getting the sim is as simple as plug and play, + the coverage and speed is relatively good

The sim drains battery? I realized a similar issue and deactivated my 4G, and used the normal 3G instead. It helped a little, and i was told that under cold weather - its common for your phone batt to drain more than usual. Not a technical person so i'm not sure how true this is haha.
Ahhhh but SIM also potentially got problem ya so its not absolute i have encountered issues with both SIM and WIFI router before.

Based on my understanding, the word "Pass" here is a bit misleading. It's not actually a pass, it's more like a normal IC card with additional benefits. You still recharge the card as usual and tap it as you use the public transports. But you get some additional discounts at selected attractions.

So far unlimited and stable connection (Tokyo, Kanagawa area should be fine) - and i shared it with 5 devices too, never found any speed throttling (i think for asia countries, you need not to worry about speed throttling)

It depends what is your agenda. e.g. we ask the locals during Sakura season, and they tell us which and which temple is having the best bloom this few days, so we choose one and went to Tofukuji. Overall the temple is quite nice but crowded also.

i don't think it's a good idea to jump multiple location within 9 days
1. u won't be able to experience fully of 1 place
2. spend too much time on transport instead of exploring
3. cost way too much(JR pass)
4. basically just touch & go(pointless)
why not just stay the whole period in tokyo?
or split half and half with tokyo and osaka/kyoto and discard hokkaido

May I ask which is the best start point to explore Dotonbori all the way to Shinsaibashi shopping street or either way...Some i read say get off at Osaka Namba station but since the location is not far I want to know where to start is better.

I think the rate is quite reasonable. Only 1.7% loss due to exchange rate and charge Rm6.7 per withdrawal as service fees from Maybank.

Say if I withdrawal 100,000 yen from 7-11 or JP Post bank ATM, only lost RM 67 due to exchange rate (3910 - 3843) + Rm6.7 = RM73.70

My flight arriving at 08.45am in KIX, so should be able to purchase right?

I am torn between:

1) JR West Kansai Area Pass (4 days ¥6500)
- from what I understand, I can use this pass from airport to board 'Haruka' train to Namba, which i think is very convenient. I read that JR also has quite a wide network station so it will be much easier for first timer like me, and it covers some Rapid line too (not sure what tis is)

2) Kansai Thru Pass (3 days ¥5200)
- this pass looks like it covers most of the rail line in Osaka, except for JR line. However it only cover for 3 days and I do not want to fork extra for another day pass. Will this pass can be use to & from KIX too? Or i will need to board other train to Namba?

why do you keep going to kansai? not boring? I regret not Book to osaka instead. look like kansai is more lively than Tokyo. is JR pass the shortest 7 days? look at klook the price already 1k. 1/3 of my budget. actually if combine with my waifu our budget are 6k. for 12 days do you recommend me to explore only Tokyo or extend to kansai? if got JR pass all are free or must pay another transport fees to the attraction places?

Saturday? I think a bit too late now. I'm not a fan of MiFi rental due to battery and coverage if travel in a bunch. If the person holding that thing and walks away, everyone will have no Internet.

Since your time is a bit constraint now, you can get SIM card from Hello1010 and drop by their office to collect. I pre-ordered my SIM card from Shopee at around RM 107 for 30GB/15 days.
