Hi, sorry if this was asked before.
Lets say I have a printable discount coupon but I would like to use it to buy tickets for 4 persons (so that each person gets a discount), how do I say it in Japanese?

Like how do I say;
"I would like to buy 4 tickets, please. Can I use this coupon for 4 persons each?"

Or do I need to present 4 discount coupons when I purchase the 4 tickets?

Thanks for any kind reply. Arigatou.

What sort of discount coupon are you referring to? I'm sure there's T&C written on the coupon on the redemption - whether 1 coupon per ticket or whether 1 coupon is applicable for all/ total tickets.

"chi-ketto yottsu onegaishimasu." (4 ticket please)
"kono ku-pon wa yon-nin wo tsukatte mo-ii desu ka?" (can this coupon be used for 4 people?)

Beware that when you start speaking Japanese from the get-go, they'll assume you're fluent and then you'll be bombarded with Japanese all the way. While you may be able to ask question in Japanese, you may not understand the reply.

I'll suggest starting the conversation or speaking in English instead, and the Japanese phrase is backup in case they could not understand what you try to say in English.
*
Thanks very much for the feedback! I see, so better to start of with English and use limited Japanese if needed, right? If I go with 2nd option, should I tell them my Japanese is very limited?

For the coupon its this ( https://www.nagasaki-ropeway.jp/facility/coupon.php ) Unfortunately its all in Japanese, so I wanted to be sure if this discount can be applied for all persons or do my party have to buy their individual ticket to get this discount. Hahaha.

I ady target to use 500yen one day tram pass as another good deal I could use during my trip there.

But will the increase in consumption tax scheduled in Oct (orz!) affect much? is it worth spending the extra time in their Customs office just to claim that tax?

Hahaha! Thanks again for educating the noob me. This is my first to Japan and as I only know from going other countries, it will be processed at their Customs.
The >5000yen is include eating at restaurants? And how does the "tax refund" sticker looks like? Do I have to tell them I want the refund if my purchases do qualify? Thanks very much again!

500 yen tram pass is good but I won't use it on the first day, it is lesser than 500 yen for my case.
I will stay in one of the hotels which is within the free shuttle to ropeway station, so that gonna save a bit.
*
I calculated that if some days it will benefit then I buy, otherwise I would use Suica card per trip.

I will be looking to stay at Nagasaki Eki and the bus to ropeway station from there is just 150yen so whistling.gif Originally I wanted to go to Takaramachi and walk there! Haha!
I got conflicting info about Glover Garden that some of their display houses are closed but there was a posted notice saying it is only due for closure in Jan 2020. Unsure if its worth going if they ady closed the main Glover house.

don't need to claim tax in customs officer
can do it straight at the shop itself

will it affect much?...answer is half half
if u plan to eat that food or use that product immediately...thn it's subjected to the new 10% tax
if u wanted it to be tax free, u need to purchase over 5000 yen and all the things that will be tax-free will be sealed into a plastic
u can't open it and take it out
*
So meaning consumption immediately (ie food) is non-refundable? Lets say dinner at >5000yen is not qualify? Am rite?
"all the things...sealed into a plastic" So meaning I can't take it out to repack into my luggage? Oh my.

Restaurants and hotels not included. Sticker is normally at the store entrance and its in English saying something like "Japan Tax Refund" Google the image and you can find it. Not all shops directly do a tax refund at the cashier. Some need you to pay first, like Don Quijote, and then go to a special counter to claim your returns. Some, like yodobashi camera/ bic camera have special counter where you pay there. Both method will need your passport. If you are not sure if that shop does tax refund just ask the cashier "tax free?".

Thanks for the link. I saw in the map that Nagasaki don't seem to have any participating outlets. Oh well, with such conditions they imposed, doesn't seem like an easy thing to get the rebates. My purpose is for sightseeing mainly not a shopping trip tho I usually maximise my time & money spent.

Thanks as well to MR_alien look416

When I booked my accommodation, I didn't have much choice and coincidentally the one I booked is one of the hotels. tongue.gif So might as well just stay there. laugh.gif

Glover Garden is within walking distance from my hotel, you can check out and let me know because it is in my itinerary. I will only go after you. tongue.gif

for those tax-free shopping
people always wait last minute until their last location(if u travel multiple location within a trip)
it will usually end up in a city
thn u go into a medicine shop or a store like don quixote
buy all the things u need, they will put all the stuff into a sealed bag...refund the tax to u on the spot
and u basically just put the whole bag into your luggage

the food i refer to is the one sold in these tax-free store like flavored sticks like pocky, keropok..etc
but if u wanted to eat that keropok in japan, u have to pay tax for it
*
Good tip! I usually get some small souvenirs or something along way in my visits, and only splurge at last day as you also adviced. Then I would take time to pack everything so i maximise every cubic cm in my luggage and carry bag and not damaged them. My overseas trips I come back cun-cun with 30kg luggage and 7kg bag, both stuffed to the max. The last one I came back from Aussie with 5 bottles of wine and a handmade cake, all undamaged. Haha!

But if like you mentioned, all those variety stuffs are inside one bag or so, will be hard to rearrange them as I usually do. No issue for me if I have to forego the tax rebate, just something extra sweet memories if I could you know.

Hi there, do you have any recommendation for airport transfer from kansai airport? We arrive kansai airport quite late at night and bringing small toddler, easier for us to move. Average at most website charge more than rm600 per trip. Anyone using traveloka? Charge for rm400 only, is it legit?

Thank you in advance 🙏

Typically international airports (like Kansai) will have taxis round the clock, but rates is another thing. You really gonna pay a lot for nite fees and I read that Uber is still not a thing in Japan. Another is to wait it out at the airport until public transport services resume, I believe they start at 6am.

If u dont like busy & crowded like osaka & tokyo then fukuoka should b ok d. You can do a lot of side trip to nagasaki, yufuin - beppu, kumamoto, or more far to miyazaki. Kyushu area for me is more to natural & history. For me i did a 10 days trip & i went to okinawa as well since its just a short flight to the island. Spending at there is slightly cheaper than tokyo & osaka.

U talk bout ramen i was happy to say they got 1 ramen that is one of the best in japan but too bad for you it is best because of the pork or pork bone paste soup sad.gif still got other ramen d. But you have to check properly because kyushu type of ramen is pork soup based d.

Halal restaurants ah... Not really sure got or not. But surely got fews d just need to find. No pork i see got la but halal or not really not sure.

Can share what name that super yummy ramen shop. Not Ippudo or Ichiran rite?

Klook's collection place is at somewhere near Namba and yes I find it inconvenient too. That's why didn't get from them.
Yeah, I reckoned that's what I'm going to do. Just IC card, no need to stress anymore.
I just dislike reloading it with cash only.. sad.gif
Yeah, or sites like Klook or KKDay, can Google for it. smile.gif
I got mine from Taobao, much cheaper.
Anyway, does anyone know where can I buy daily unlimited 500 yen Nagasaki tram tickets? Real experience sharing is appreciated.

Yeah, same information posted here: https://www.japankuru.com/en/tour/e2115.html

I will discuss with my friend again.. Thanks by the way. She wants to go, I wasn't aware of this place until she told me. laugh.gif
*
I didn't know there was such an attraction! shocking.gif But yeah after googling there's about 14 types of fruit stops, so if you want to maximise ur fruity coverage don't use the buses. Better to rent car and hop from stop to stop otherwise ur waiting time will probably be longer than ur excitement.

Also Nagasaki has much more than just the A Bomb stuff but I guess not everything suits everyone's cup of matcha tea.

I will be covering 7 places in Nagasaki, I guess that's good enough but this fruit thingy is really challenging.
Unless I drive which I don't have much choice anyway. laugh.gif

Let me break the news to her tomorrow because if possible we try not to drive for this trip and want to use their public transport. Next year if we are going to NZ, I'm going to drive like really a lot, all the time.  laugh.gif

From this https://zekkeijapan.com/spot/index/709/ and this https://grapee.jp/en/54483 seems like its limited to only 1 road which is Highway 207 so hunting is much easier; just go along this route.

But I think another better way is get to Konagai and find a private tour or a local taxi driver that could take you both to all these stops and wait at the side. I read that some cities, taxis can be rented for the whole day but not sure if this is applicable to your case.

Renting taxi in Japan are not same as Malaysia.
It will cost you Rm1000 above.

10 minute distance in Japan taxi already cost 4000 to 5000 yen.
*
Yeah, I'm well aware of that when I suggested that. Certainly not cheap but it would better to work out a flat rate half day fare or something. That or self-drive otherwise its gonna be a big waste of time just waiting for the buses at each stop.

better to go now before their GST hike and their olympic begins
from october onwards until next year olympic is over, it's going to be very expensive to travel to japan
*
Some have planned long ago so can't avoid it. Like me, I'm supposed to arrive there smack right on 1st day of tax hike so you can see how I feel, but what to do. Japan is an expensive country to go to anyway regardless of tax hike or currency inflation or Olympics, so just need to make sure got budget enough for visit, travel in comfort, not being too calculative, and extras for contingencies.
