Not going to drive February at all because of planned vacation to Hanoi biggrin.gif so yeah, based on this, I think driving Grab full time is reasonable if you don't have loan commitments, isn't looking to get rich quick, and value flexibility of time.

I did achieve the main goal of driving Grab instead of full time employment, which is spending more quality time with wife. There are still some concerns about doing this for the next couple years, but we'll decide after Grab announce the PSV thing, as in how they will go about it

Currently the decision is resume driving Grab full time in March after done with vacation biggrin.gif

Great speech..sounds just like someone who had just driven grab for only 1 month 😂

But I applaud your focus and I sincerely hope this works out for you.

Cheers
*
Thanks, i hope it works out too

Now i wish i had the courage to do this a few years earlier

Now i can fix up my flat unit to rent out, explore other cashflow generating channel that doesnt require me to work fixed schedule

I know im lucky than most Grab drivers here. I dont have loans to worry about. I might not even drive Grab anymore after im back from Hanoi. But if i do still drive, it will be because i want to, not because i need to

You dont need to be millionaire to change the way you live. You just need to learn big salary should not be the only reason we wake up every day for

LOL why so serious ? drive for less then a month only then become serious like this ?

I have no interest in replying to your full speech but lets see how far you can go as a full timer.

oh and by the way im not a lembu, i just drive when im free.

sorry to say but the lembu you are referring to are full timers ONLY.

so please know the differences between part time and full time lembu.
*
So why do you drive when you are free?

Not happy with job, and salary not enough?

I don't know about you all eat, but RM800 is more than enough eating for a whole month for me. Putting away 1K per month is more than enough for regular maintenance or road tax or insurance. Again, maybe you all drive Ferrari, so saving 1K a month for it is definitely not enough.

No loan at all, got investments in stocks and unit trusts that are doing okay because I put all my money into bonds and dividend funds. Not great until 300% profit, but it's enough to grow capital by 4 to 6% every year

As for the calculation of toll, Grab counts it toward your collected gross, and you need to pay TnG for top up. So accounting wise, it has to be shown even though they cancel each other out.
*
You sure? Mine is the opposite. Daily/weekly gross never includes toll

Btw, did you target the weekly income to be gross 700+ or just randomly driving x hour/s per day?

One month and 400+ trips later, I’m beginning to understand why most Grab drivers are full of anger and always miserable

50% is because of bad decisions/situations prior to Grab life, so they choose Grab thinking it will solve their problem, but when Grab change incentive structure they feel conned

50% is because of extreme cheapskate and calculativeness. I understand no one likes to lose money, but to hold grudge just because passenger dont know how to set pickup pin properly, thats just silly

So the most relevant experience i want to share with potential new driver is, if you are not capable of patience and generosity, then you should stick to paid employment

Your reason to start driving Grab shouldnt be because of money. If money is the reason you want to drive Grab, you are better off earning part time money at mcd. At least ular a bit you still get paid per hour fixed

Grab statement that you based on in your calculation already excluded the toll coz is paid by passengers. And yet you calculated the touch n go top up. Should be omitted from calculation as it is not cancelling each other out.

Ya i just checked again, the statement individual trip got toll column but the summary exclude

So just need to manual compute and add on top of gross, since it is technically revenue (you take money from customer) and expenditure (pay for tng top up)

Ya i check statement again, im mistaken on the summary part

At first i target at least 500 a week, now seems like if drive at least 4 days a week will get 700

So just turn on and drive
