Not going to drive February at all because of planned vacation to Hanoi biggrin.gif so yeah, based on this, I think driving Grab full time is reasonable if you don't have loan commitments, isn't looking to get rich quick, and value flexibility of time.

I did achieve the main goal of driving Grab instead of full time employment, which is spending more quality time with wife. There are still some concerns about doing this for the next couple years, but we'll decide after Grab announce the PSV thing, as in how they will go about it

Currently the decision is resume driving Grab full time in March after done with vacation biggrin.gif
*
RM3500 don't look reasonable at all for me if I was a full timer.

I rather get a full time office job and do grab as part time.

Now that sounds more then reasonable enough.

QUOTE(Grabtology @ Feb 9 2019, 04:46 PM)
In the first place, why are you a Grab driver (assuming everyone posting here drives Grab)?

You want to be rich? You want to be your own boss? As so many pointed out, there are so many other better businesses you can do, instead of being a lembu for Grab. So why are you a Grab driver still?

If Grab is so unprofitable and makes you unhappy, why still drive?

Because life is unfair and you got dealt a bad hand? Because if you don't drive, then dapur tak berasap, bini/anak mati kebuluran? Because the world owes you a living? Because you got 9 years car loan and 30 years house loan?

If your answer is yes to any of the question above, I got bad news for you: life don't get better automatically just because you think it should be. You need to be willing to change and work for it. The most important change is your mindset and approach to life.

Which brings us to this question: what is a "better" life?

Why did I decide to drive Grab?

My reason is because I'm at a stage of my life where I value time flexibility more than any potential income I can make.

Yes, a full time job will give you so much more income, on top of paid annual leave, paid medical leave, EPF, SOCSO, etc. It also means you work according to the schedule and expectation given.

So now I earn a lot less, I don't get thousands of EPF contribution every month, no one else will foot my medical bill if I get a fever.

But I feel better and happier. I eat significantly cheaper and healthy food because now I have time to make them. I exercise every morning and sleep at the same time every night. I don't have to worry about getting call from boss for emergency at midnight.

Instead of cursing customers if they demand to be fetched/sent inside condo area so theoretically I lose money over that extra distance, or getting so angry about getting ikan bilis fare, I just shrug and smile and help people get to where they want to go. Then I report the ride to Grab if necessary. Then move on. There are better things in life to think about.

When my wife wants to attend an event on a weekday, we'll just attend it, instead of stressing about if I can get leave approved. Heck, we took the entire February off for vacation, which is something never possible if I'm still in a job.

So, why are you in your current job? Are you happy doing what you are doing now? If no, then it's time to reevaluate your entire self. Sometimes, all it takes is just a change of mindset, without any other modification to any other aspect of your life, to suddenly feel better about what is possible for your future.

It's time to start thinking more than just the amount of salary you get get.
I don't know about you all eat, but RM800 is more than enough eating for a whole month for me. Putting away 1K per month is more than enough for regular maintenance or road tax or insurance. Again, maybe you all drive Ferrari, so saving 1K a month for it is definitely not enough.

No loan at all, got investments in stocks and unit trusts that are doing okay because I put all my money into bonds and dividend funds. Not great until 300% profit, but it's enough to grow capital by 4 to 6% every year

As for the calculation of toll, Grab counts it toward your collected gross, and you need to pay TnG for top up. So accounting wise, it has to be shown even though they cancel each other out.
*
LOL why so serious ? drive for less then a month only then become serious like this ?

I have no interest in replying to your full speech but lets see how far you can go as a full timer.

oh and by the way im not a lembu, i just drive when im free.

sorry to say but the lembu you are referring to are full timers ONLY.

so please know the differences between part time and full time lembu.

So why do you drive when you are free?

Not happy with job, and salary not enough?

So u telling me money is not the motivation for driver, then what it is?
*
He should consider doing it as charity since money is not a reason we drive grab as what he claim or motivates us.

Every RM5 job for far pickup distance with no time booster just campak to that full time lembu. By then , he will bring out the inner angered lembu in him.

Anyway , I just view him as a newbie. Nothing more, nothing less.

Even charities have admin fees to make sure they just breakeven instead of lose money wink.gif and in some cases, the intention is to lose money outright. Charity in capitalism works the same way, it's a zero sum game. For someone to win money, someone has to lose money

Anyway, yes, I've taken those trips before, in fact, every time I drive about 6pm. My acceptance rate is 100% on auto accept, and 0% cancellation rate. Rating 4.94. If by 7pm I'm in Rawang or Bangi while I stay in Subang, that's just how it is. It's not ideal, but I'll still be grateful for all the rides for the day, and slowly drive home
*
So I take it you like losing money because you did mentioned that money is not the reason why we grab and motivates us ?

Grateful for RM5 jobs with far pick up and no time booster ? Interesting , now I understand why you say money is not the reason to grab.

I'm starting to think that you are one of those hardcore grab booty as licker ?

You should go to grab office and sign up for charity ride without any admin fees. Grab will be more then happy to give you a special tittle called , "grab charity ambassador"

Please don't quote me as I have no interest in replying to your future post.

By next week I will get suspended by grab.

Grab sent me an SMS stating that last week cancellation rate was more compared to the 95% of my grab buddies. and if I keep cancelling rides this week I will be suspended by grab. My cancelation rate for this week is at 50% and I have no interest in lowering down as I've already decided to stop driving for Grab once and for all.

So if grab want to suspend me and banned me or whatever please do so. Haha !

I got a lot of shit things to say about grab and share my experiences but i better just forget it all and move on in life as grab won't give two flying ball fucks.

I wish everyone here best of luck in grab and in life.

Goodbye all !

Good luck with the 10 cent petrol price increase and low fares

Charity rides all the way ?

Petrol prices have been increasing since Chinese New year.

I'm not surprise if petrol prices will increase few cents next week as well.

opssss, same like my situation those day. Sure anytime soon ur acc will be deactivated. U hv to call up cs and they will sms u a link for u to choose the date and time for the reeducation class.

During that one hour class, u will listen to the courtesy way to treat the riders, bla bla and bull shit till the end of the class u must sign on a form to ensure u hv learn the lesson. High cancelation rate reactivation very fast one, not even less than half an hour
*
No wonder people call this company "CRAP" , because indeed they are.

Can they also sign a form for me that I have every right to cancel any fares that are low + far pick up distance ? Because I know that they'll never learn their lesson from that too.

Meh, I already choose to quit grab for good.

Just mind boggling how this company take advantage of drivers and yet we still drive for them.

Grab owner/ceo must be laughing at this all the way including their management.

For last week , I only drove on Monday which stood at 50% cancellation rate.

Never bothered to drive after that as I got SMS stating that this week I will be suspended if i continue cancellation from last week.
