so since got upgraded from 100mbps to 500mbps like 1~2 week ago,

i've been testing my speed everyday. (wanted to do more tests to make sure and since that time wasnt official so didnt want to make my case. but now that its officially upgraded to 500mbps so i'm bringing it up)

So.. I'm always getting 300mbps DL max only on LAN.
Testing using S8 also gets me 300mbps on WiFi.

Upload speeds hover around 200mbps as well..

So my question is how/where can i fix to get the full 500mbps.
Using stock router given by Time (DIR850)

Model Name: DIR-850L Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.07

Pls give me your Service No (TBBNxxxxxG) , I check for you.
Selfcare only shows your Contract Term but not remaining months.

Is it normal for upload speed to be faster than download?
My dload always hit around 250Mbps max... but the upload can go up to 400Mbps.
I am the only one using the broadband and yet, the download speed doesn't exceed the upload...

Do I have to change any setting on the C1200?

Me too.

Manage to update firmware coz i never update it since time installation and now can get 230+ Mbps on 5Ghz. Luckly I remember to screenshot my TIME username and password coz router will be reset after updating firmware done.

Using LAN can get 500Mbps easily.

Need to upgrade router  wink.gif
*
which firmware did you update to?
i am running FW2.1..
only get 400mbps once, then avg is like 350 avg with cat6 LAN connect directly to the router 850L

Or you can try the password, TIMEXXXX (where XXXX is the last 4 alphanumeric of the router MAC ID, which is printed on the sticker underneath)

Those are limited to 2x2 mimo and only capable of 500mbps. As a matter of fact all phones are 500mbps limited to my knowledge.

U wanna 800mbps+ wireless u gotta look for 3x3 or 4x4 mimo. One good one is pce-ac88. Fastest wireless adapter in the world.

I am using 3x3. I already share out ii average around 690mbps

have you try with your current Archer C7? whats the speed you are getting over wifi 5GHz?

I haven't been home in a few months, so still haven't upgraded from the basic DIR-850L.

Don't have someone with an Archer C7 for me to try out before purchase.

QUOTE(FusionXY @ Oct 8 2018, 08:21 PM)
Archer C7 won't be able to fulfill your needs.

You should get at least AC2300.
Or you can order the DIR-882 from TIME.

Thanks
*
My needs are mostly 80% wired. Wifi is only about of 20% importance.

More concerned with whether the router Gigabit ports can sustain whatever the BTU/modem is delivering.

Like that i think better use wire now.

Wait for ac802.11ax router release next few months.

Those new standard ax can 1gbps over wifi no problem but the product will only get popular next year.

Oh, AC1200 cannot enjoy the 1Gbps even with network cable?

Via lan cable yes. Via WiFi no. Think 5GHz caps out at something like 800+mbps

Nope. It won’t. Check the link on my signature for list of compatible routers. You should get the C2300 for the chance of getting 500Mbps.
Yep, check the router to see if you have set your LAN port to 1000Mbps manually. See page 55: https://4amlxms1bqq223a181oxyv35-wpengine.n..._2.00_EN_US.pdf

Hi SilentVampire,

Thanks for your recommendation for the C2300.

However, since we can get a D-Link DIR-882 from Time for only RM550 and free installation, should I get this DIR-882 instead of the C2300?

In your list of compatible routers, you have listed the D-Link DIR-882 can achieve up to 800mbps but the product features in Time selfcare only shows "Achievable speeds of up to 500Mbps over WiFi". (please refer to attachment).

What is your take on this bro?

Sorry for asking noob questions as I just want to make sure I am making the right decision before pulling the trigger.

Thanks in advance

Most routers have Gigabit ports. Only cheap models doesn't have gigabit ports.
How many devices connected on LAN?
