Getting a reliable 500Mbps on the living room is easy, even a cheap TP-Link Archer AX20 can ahieve that.

The challenging part is getting reliable coverage in your bedrooms. If the Ethernet jack from the cabinet to the TV rack is working, you certainly able to use that and put the router there.

The powerline solution suggested by Mixxomon is worth exploring. However, most condo(s), especially bigger ones are powered by 3-phase power. Perhaps you need to check on that first.

Since your budget is higher, I will recommend the ASUS TUF-AX3000 router coupled with the TP-Link TL-WPA8630P powerline wireless extender KIT.

I personally used the TL-WPA8630P KIT in an apartment with 3-phase power and it manages to provide me with a reliable 120Mbps WiFi network reliably on the extension end.

Hi sifus, is the tp link archer ax3000 a good alternative to time provided router? I'm living in a 2 bedroom condo unit. Internet is very slow in all location even in the living room where the router is placed. There is Intermittent disconnection also. If ax3000 is not good, can pls suggest another router(s)? TIA

If you're buying into Asus then this is likely to get Merlin firmware support, which means you can install several add-ons including ad-blocking on the router.

Just be aware AX3000 (sometimes even called AX58U) and AX3000 TUF Gaming are two different models. Same hardware but TUF Gaming got more gaming based support in its UI.

Oh for the 3-phase power, you can roughly tell based on your home fuse box. If there's only one main fuse then it's one phase, if got 3 then 3 phase. From there you can also tell if two plugs is in the same phase.

Is it possible to make third party router as main router over the stock Maxis c5v with voip still functioning?
Thinking to grab TP-link AX20 as my main router, but i do need the voip feature.
Want to slowly upgrade devices to AX and the stock maxis c5v have random disconnection/slowdowns.

My current setup is :

I'm on Maxis 300Mbps
Modem ---> Maxis c5v Main router (5ghz wifi only) --WIRED--> Asus ac55uhp (5ghz+2.4ghz wifi)

Yes for asus TF AX3000. Others brand and model not sure. My initial asus ac68u have problem with voip. Even with latest firmware also fail. Then I changed to TF Ax3000 and the phone voip function as normal.

Did you set SIP passthrough under NAT?

Is it better to get 3x Deco M5 or 2x Deco M9? Deco M9 is wider range compared to M5 right?
