blacktubi Great post, I'll pass you some performance results for Mikrotik routers so you can insert them into the post.

As soon as I get my 800Mbps and start testing but dunno when that'll be.

TS, kinda intrigued on what device did you use to hit the 800 Mbps mark.  blush.gif
RB2011UAS? Can't even get past 300 Mbps on ethernet. Its wireless? Around 35Mbps.

Mine is RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN. Disabled the LCD and all, and while people recommends enabling fasttrack, I cant get it to works.
*
I have the RB2011UAS but not using as router. Also have RB750Gr3, hAP AC Lite, hAP AC2 and hAP AC. Will test when I get my 800Mbps. Also have older ones like RB750GL, RB751U, RB951U and RB951G. Some of these should be on the same performance level as RB2011UAS.

another thing is, the gigabit port on my mikrotik would stuck at 100mbps for some reason. do i need to disable the rest of the unused port?
...
*
Check the cable. This port connected to what? Check that port too.

And no need to disable unused port not the Mikrotik.

asking if i still need another router or not

current running AC58U,RT1200HP and N12u

i'm getting my 500mbps but as far i know none of this capable to make use of 500mbps speed on WiFI and only 1 router support gigabit lan

so should i invest on AC6X series or just get a gigabit switch
sifu please advice  biggrin.gif
*
AC58U technically should be able to go over 500Mbps on wifi. Depends on your device too. My iPad 2017 gets 515 Mbps while the most my iPhone 6s can do is 343 Mbps. They're both 2x2 MIMO.

Hi, just want to ask. Currently using tenda c18. My bro connected his PC through LAN with CAT 5e wire. Package is 500mbps and my bro can achieved 500+mbps with no problem. The problem is, after some time, the speed test has been throttle at 80-90mbps (properties suddenly show link speed of 100mbps). the only fix for this is to move the wire to different port on the router and can achieved back the 500mbps speed. Anyone facing this?
*
Cable problem? Hope it is. Cheap and easy to fix.

Who still uses D-link 850L for turbo 800Mbps?
I think mine is bottle-necking and can only get max 300Mbps when direct download. Using cable of course.

Latest firmware 2.10TM.
Wifi, firewall, qos, and ipv6 are all turned off.
Direct download tested using IDM fetching from centos mirror, microsoft iso, and google drive.

The weird thing is, running speedtest is consistent at 840-850Mbps.
Torrent speed is also good at 600-700Mbps.

I tried plugging laptop directly to the ONU hg8240w and connect using windows pppoe. Yeah no problem getting full speed for direct download.
So definitely something is wrong with the 850L.

I'm confused why speedtest and torrents are fine, but normal http download was bottle-necked  confused.gif
*
I'm not using DIR-850L but it shouldn't have any problem handling 800Mbps on LAN. As you've already seen with your own speedtests and torrents.

How many connections for your direct download?

What do you get when you speedtest.net with single connection?

Just did a quick speedtest.net with OVH SG.
Multiple: 850Mbps
Single:350Mbps

2nd speedtest.net seems to be faster.

Normal FTP ie 1 connections 48.2MBps

Have tried 8,16, and 32 connections. No difference.
Even downloading with multiple server is the same:

I don't have extra router to test. Maybe its time to get a new one  laugh.gif

Really have no idea why. Your single connection speedtest is even faster than mine.

This is Centos Everything downloading in Safari browser. About the same as my FTP speed from the same server.

Yes, that is unstable speed. Some time 600, some time 700, some time 750, some time drop back 650. I keep on complaint, now they only file in report and sent tech ppl to view.
*
Unstable when doing what? I can get stable speedtests of 830Mbps but it's not very productive.

I close all the apps, don't use handphone. Speed test a lot of times, some times 600, some times 500. some times 700, never get 800
*
So you doing speedtest? How? Where? What browser? It'll be much easier to diagnose your prob if you're more specific.

I use IE, Chrome, firefox, Edge to test. Test at home

I can simulate your problem by using Safari and speedtest.tm.com.my. Results will fluctuate between 500-700Mbps.

My simulated problem is solved by using Firefox and speedtest.tm.com.my. Results consistently at 830-850Mbps.

stock firmware sucks.

if your router has flash memory and the model is supported, try to flash custom firmware such as DD-WRT to bring out the best in your router.
*
Unless it's a Mikrotik or maybe a Ubiquiti then stock firmware rocks. biggrin.gif

Hi I'm new to this home networking thing. Usually I grab it from Unifi and that's it. My Archer C1200 recently went kaput and now I'm getting a 2nd-hand unit outside.

However it's provided by TIME Fiber. Can I still use it for my unifi connection or are there any incompatibilities (firmware, etc) that I should know of?

If it's all good I'll just grab it. Thanks sifus for helping me...

*also getting the three antenna c1200 unit because it suited my needs and satisfying to use.
*
Later I check for you. I have my stupid TIME TPLink AC1350 router in the box here.

Is Huawei EchoLife HG8546M BTU Or Router? Shop says BTU but why does this model have antennas though? I really need your help $iFu$. Sweet Dreams And Good Day ;-)
*
It’s btu plus router plus WiFi ap. Current Huawei btus like hg8240 can run as all in one but TM not using that way. Which is a good thing cos I can use any router I want.

hi guys.
was browsing and came upon this router, the Redmi AC2100 router on shopee, and was surprised the price was quite cheap

wondering if there are anyone with experience using this router, whether will it work with Unifi? if custom firmware needed, is there any references available? thanks
*
At that price, just buy and try. If it doesn't support UniFi which it mostly likely will not, just use as an AP.

Hi Sifus. Want to ask, is the AmpliFi ALIEN Router compatible with UniFi?
Just wondering.  tongue.gif

It is. Even though I don’t anything about it. I’m more a Mikrotik user.

Need some mesh wifi advice. Thanks in advance all.

Deco X20 vs M9 Plus? Both similarly priced for 11.11.

3-storey superlink house / 4000 sq ft / Unifi 300 Mbps but may upgrade.

Modem and router inside my storeroom.
*
If your AP units are going to be wired then go for X20 or even M4.
If fully wireless then M9 Plus because it has 3 radios.
