nowadays buying local sim with unlimited data is a trend, i'm sure you will do the same as the cost is a lot cheaper than using own sim with data roaming

I just on the roaming when oversea, 38 per days but just more convenience

Not really, I still yet to buy any overseas sim card during travel.
Fully utilizing those free wifi (hotel / events / mall etc).
Still waiting for local telco to reduce data roaming charges to RM10-20/day, just like some advance countries (AUD5 / USD5 per day, how cheap).

I will still prefer to receive SMS, especially in overseas.
Sometimes the terminal is still showing "processing" but we have receive confirmation SMS from maybank.

I am evaluating a revised roaming solution in a couple of months. Quite competitive against buying local sim but save you the trouble of getting one everywhere you go.

There are a few wifi rental services, where you can collect from local airport prior departure.
The rate is quite attractive.
The only disadvantage, you need to rent throughout your journey, you can't buy for only 3 days (ie, out of your 7 days journey)

If you go for long (more than a week), there are a few cheaper options.
If you only go for 3-5 days, minus transit days, you rather turn on telco data roaming.

of cos few days i can just use Umobile RM10/day for those applicable countries, but out of those specific countries, i will bet most of us will survey which method is the lowest cost by surveying here and there before travelling

Hmm... RM10/day is a good rate, not aware umobile is having this, I will not hesitate to turn it on.
Nevertheless, I do hope more telco will offer cheaper rate and extend to more countries.

Got good got bad, bad thing is you need data always on to receive the notification and good thing is even though u have bad signal or at offshore whereby no signal at all, u still can receive the notification through WiFi

Anyway people seldom using SMS nowadays and bank also want to cut cost
*
yea, there are always advantages and drawbacks, maybe they should allow preference for users to choose which comfortable with.

OT from mbb 2cc,

you all can go search yoodo. they offer good rate for roaming, RM10~20/day depending countries.

Should stop discussing about roaming here...later moderator comes shot one by one.

Normally no charge for receiving, but will charge for sending. Better check with your telco.

Hi guys, just wanna ask something, my card was approved on 4 July, only received and activate it on 17 July. My first swipe was yesterday as well, but transaction is yet to reflected in my maybank2u. How many days before i can see the transaction in my account?

When should i expect my account statement? Will I receive it by the end of this month and deadline of payment at the end of next month or how?

Sorry, kinda new to this, this is my first cc.
