Maybank's is an ATM & Debit Card 2 in 1 . I checked with EON bank and PBB before , if you used their Debit card to withdraw money from a 3rd party bank ( other than EON & PBB  ATM  ) , there will be a RM10 charge.  For Maybank's 2 in 1 ATM plus Debit Card , withdrawal of money from an ATM of a  3rd party bank will be charged at RM1 , but the staff told me that you need to have an account with Maybank and for a savings account the initial amount to open the account is RM250.

All those with Maybank KawanKu ATM card can replace this ATM card with the 2 in 1 card . And there will be a fee of RM12 but I forgotten to ask whether there is annual charges for this 2 in 1 card. Anyone here know about this ?

I would also like to know how is the acceptance of Maybank's Debit Visa Card ?  I heard from friends that Maybank's Debit Visa Card's is not so good in terms of acceptance by merchant. Is it true ?

EONBank combi debit mastercard only charge normal RM1 when u withdraw money form 3rd party bank through bankcard/meps networks in malaysia....just like normal ATM card....it is an ATM card actually....same as maybank visa debit... smile.gif

if u want details, u should ask people from the company who did the marketing strategy..... tongue.gif

from consumer point a view, i can get the cashless convenience without worrying late payment / monthly carry forward balance of credit card which have high interest..... i don't have to schedule any payment since its deducted straight from my account....save my time.... whistling.gif

I got both Credit card and maybank debit kad. Juz got both last month..hehe.. For me, the debit kad is a good thing bcoz maybank will charge 50sen on the 5th transaction onwards using the atm card. So, to avoid dat payment, i use the debit card.but as usual, shop owners dunt trust debit card. I argued with a bata shop during my 1st use of the card. Stupid cashier..dunt want to swipe my card juz bcoz its a debit card. But after a while, da supervisor came n swipe it.

For credit card, i use it for emergency cases..but will most likely not use it at all.. biggrin.gif

why some merchants do not accept debit card i don't know.. they should accept it if they display MasterCard & Visa accepted logo...

some merchants also set the minimum amount to use card..this i also dont understand... in the USA, even 2 bucks drink is preferable to use card rather than cash....

Don't ask to the merchants whether they accept debit card or not...Just ask can use Visa?
Just like i did

The reason some merchants set minimum amount purchase using credit card or debit card.
Some of the reason because using this card can effect their cash flow. The payment
make by card issuer(Bank) take longer and not on the spot.

But in my opinion, minimum amount to use card is not an issue. The issue is some merchant Charge additional
charges is you use credit card or debit card that some bankers say it's illegal..

Owh..if only i read ur post earlier,i would have used dat exact word. I wanted to buy a new spectacles today, ask da cashier can use visa or not, then I gatal ask him can use maybank debit card or not?ofcourse he would say no..caused i wauz in a hurry, dunt have time to argue with him, so end up using my CC. But da prob with maybank debit card is dat maybank had been relentlessy advertising disdebit card. So ppl,esp the cashier, already know how da debit card looks like..as an example of the bata shoe shop, i didnt say dat its a debit card, but da cashier knew..dats why she doesnt want to swipe..

I wonder why you guys have to call customer service? I seriously don't understand. I do it all by myself and the pin is my choice, not given by them.

I do it all from here

If they doesn't want to swipe, not due to minimum amount but due to it is maybank debit card, ask her what bank they are using, saying you want to complaint or look for their manager. Bank has contract with every merchant that using the visa/mastercard services.

What he-sham said is correct. I do always say 'accept card?'

really..mmmm hmm.gif

actually there are no reason to unaccept visa or mastercard debit
as a payment...the system use are same like visa and mastercard credit card
but the different is this card just debit from our account....

anywhere we can complain this matter to the bank in writing attached with documents if any.

Well I did mine by accident when I purchase ticket online, it direct me to activate this pin feature for first time, then subsequently I can use the pin that I've set.

I havent read all the pages here but I started reading from page 25.

Anyways, for those who are having problem with MVD for online transaction, have you do PLUS ACTIVATION by ATM machine? I'm going to change my card to MDV as well tomorrow. And according to my friend, I need to do PLUS activation or else it wont work for online transaction.

Hi. i'm interested to get MVD but i would want to use it for online only. Feels safer somehow. Humorboy said that MVD cant be used for internet transaction but z3171600 said it can be used but the owner must do a PLUS activation.

Questions: hmm.gif
1. What's a PLUS activation and how do i do it?
2. Will we get a online pin for MVD online transaction like a normal Visa CC?

brows.gif thanks
