GE usually means GS Extended now... juz look at 7600GE... sweat.gif

Does this means that the GE is now more like a GTS already with that external power connector? If the GE is cheaper, would it be a wiser choice to get it because AFAIK, the core/memory speed is almost the GTS...

whoah... 8600GE with 6-pin power connector, sure as hell it can be overclocked like 8600GTS, and for sure the price also going to be very cheap, since it's under 8600GTS icon_idea.gif

Yea, that is why it seems interesting to me. At first, i thought it was the same as the GT, only OCed kaw kaw version. The last time i check, its using 650/2000 core/memory speed. If thats the case, i doubt it will be able to OC more without an external power source. But now from that picture, it seems like a very very very good deal...Should be cheaper but as good as the GTS on stock..

OT:

To play HD-DVD and Blu-ray titles on the PC at native high res, a HDCP supporting display and HDCP enabled display adapter@GPU is required. The content is encrypted, so the HDCP support is required both at the monitor@LCD and GPU level to play back the encrypted content. If either one is not HDCP compliant, the video and audio will be "forced" to play back at a lower quality scale or not at all.

Sorry, just a noobie question here. hope i don't get flamed tongue.gif i was wondering, does the 128 bit memory of the 8500 and 8600 series become a bottleneck to the GC's performance?

i'am currently using a 6800GS with 512 MB 256 bit memory and i performs sweetly. i was thinking of an upgrade to GF8 series but 8800 series seems out of my budget range.

Wow..Nice picture. And it is using the same Zalman fan instead of the CM of the 8600GTS. The only difference is that the GE has lower core speed. I do personally think the GE is more like a strip down version of the GTS rather than the GT. Its like a replacement model for the GTS...

Not just that, i am starting to feel that is no even a Zalman fan. Just a lookalike though..lol..

It's clearly you haven't feel any GF8 card, yet.
the 128-bit interface is a full/true 128-bit Vertex/Poly/HDR/Shader interface, unlike 6xxx, it actually cut down the 256-bit interface into 2x128-bit chunks.

Anyways, with 12 poly pipelines and 5 vertex shader on 6800GS is no match for 8500GT or 8600GT, which 16 unified poly/vertex/shader pipelines on 8500GT and 32 unified pipelines on 8600GT. The keyword here is "unified shader/poly/vertex pipelines".

You can read the technology spec at Nvidia or Wikipedia.
