True true. However, for my naked rig, the card is idling at 60-65'c at 50% fan speed, and load at 75-80'c at 80% fan speed.
I haven't run the fan at 100% as I don't want the fan to run so loud!  nod.gif

Wished I had more fans. Now using 5 cooler master silent fans to blow on my rig.....  rclxms.gif

5 also not enough la. Had to switch the fans around to get the best air flow config. Shifted one fan to blow on the GC, now load temp for my 8800GTS is around 70-75'c (fan speed 80% oni..... laugh.gif)

Hi all nVidia8 experts,

I'm using Asus 8600GT 256mb (official 162.18 driver), do you've experience that when you play games like C&C3 or Supreme Commander, it will freeze randomly between 30 minutes to 1 hr ? I've go through the nVidia forum, but seems many people also face the same situation for 8600GT. Last week I've replaced my Acbel 350W PSU to Enermax Liberty 500W, but no much help. It still freeze randomly within 1 hr when playing C&C3. My PC spec is AMD X2 5600+; Asus M2N-E SLI; Patriot DDR-800 1GB RAM (with heatsink); Asus 8600GT 256mb; Enermax Liberty 500W.

Hope you guys can provide me some info or solution.

Regards: Tonny

You mean it won't freeze before 30 minutes? Sounds like heat buildup to me. Did you monitor the GC's temperature?

Yes it won't. I've install nvidia nTune program, but cause me the BSOD when every time running games for about 30 minutes. So I uninstall it and only install nvidia 162.18 driver, then the BSOD solve. CPU temperature is about 55-57 and GPU temperature is around 56 something when play C&C3. I thought 8600GT won't so easily overheat right ? It will freeze within 30 minutes to 1 hr if I run those high end games like C&C3 or Supreme Commander.

I experience this when I'm still using my 7900GT. Try lower down some AA/AF settings in game. That works for me, cant remember which setting cant go highest as it will hang randomly like you say.

At first I also very scare about the temperature of this card. After even making it to run at 108'C with ATITool 100% 3D Stress Test but still running rock stable with no artifact/stability issue, I dont care about the temperature now.

Btw, MX-1 has helped reduced about 10'C from the load temperature from the stock paste.

Thanks for the info. I will try to change the settings in game and replay it. I thought 8600GT can allow me to change the setting to highest config in game. tongue.gif Will give u a feedback.

Don't see the need to OC the card yet. Maybe next time when the frame rates get too low for good gaming.... smile.gif

Most probably go to Control Panel -> Regional Settings, change non-Unicode program default language from Chinese to English.

Anyway, here's a more 'powered' OC - 594/864, artifact scanning in non-air conditioned room - load temp 76'c

Just a short test, not planning to OC yet.... smile.gif

Edit: Oh ya, fan at 80%..... laugh.gif

Edit x2 : Picture deleted, see below for higher OC nod.gif

Finally I've solve my 8600GT problem. Yes, I've change the setting to medium in game, then just now try to run the game about 3hrs something, it works fine. No more freeze. Thanks your info, appreciate it.
