My 8800GTS full load 95'C after running for like 15 minutes lor, no problem at all can still OC to 620/930. The stock fan is really weak when come to pushing hot air out of the case, feel like removing the plastic covering the hsf and blow 80mm fan directly. But removing the plastic will have to damage the sticker covering the screw hole, hhmmmm

8800 series wont drop price anytime soon, with Crysis coming out round the corner expect a sale boost on 8800 series, you think NV will drop price ?
*
i trim the sticker around the 2 screw holes so that i can remove the plastic cover n clean the hsf... it help the hsf to drop 1 or 2'C as dust can cause major restriction...

How you trim ? The sticker completely covers the screw hole. Wouldn't trimming it will be obvious that you have opened the plastic hsf casing and cause problem during warranty ?

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/491550

a few method has been tried... when the cover is opened, the ori fas is useless as it couldn't draw enuf air n channel them to the heat sink, so u can safely take off the ori fan... using 1 or 2 x 120mm fans can immediately cool it down to 47 to 50 idle... load is near 63 to 65... the stupid sli bridge is 1 of the most heat provider on 8800 card... try to double the thickness of the thermal tape for the sli chpset controller, rams, n the mosfet... it shows significant performance gain for ram especially... lyp got sell CM thermal tape (brown color, forgot wat's the thickness but not cheap)...

applying better thermal paste to the gpu also help dropping around 1 to 2'c (i use arctic mx-1)... but some reported much better result (upto 5'c)... the vizo dual pci fan (or sumthin like dat) works very well too when 8800 without the heat shrouder/cover, n oso without the ori fan... n best of all it cost less than rm60... worth a try... but careful, some distro void warranty as long as u take off the hsf or remove the cover...

good luck... tongue.gif

Man, just when I thought I wanna get a 8800 series card, these reviews had to come up.

Looks like for now, DX10 cards are still not needed. Maybe crysis would show off the power of DX10? hmm.gif

Read the whole review and tell me what you guys think... smile.gif

Those benchmarks are hardly surprising though. I knew the moment i tried playing in directx10 mode for CoH that I would be playing crysis in DX9

What was surprising was that there were practically no difference in picture quality between DX10 and DX9. The only thing that was better in DX10 was the soft edges for particles....

Another thing was that the size of rams didn't help at all..... doh.gif Even at higher resolutions...

Wooo stanley85 another Gigabyte 8800gts 320 user, mind telling your idle + load temperature at default and 100% fan speed ?

Yes, get those PCI slot VGA exhaust fans will help get rid of the hot air around the 4 ventilation holes area.

hmm.. exhaust fan or fans to blow directly at your card? currently using a Vantec Fan Card to blow my 8800GTS 320mb. tongue.gif
*
for 100% fan speed, 58c idle and i thin abt 70c load. however, ori is 59% fan speed (sometimes forgot to set to 100% cos everytime when restart my pc it is set to origin fan speed) 65c idle and 73c full load.

i mean the fan blow directly to my card. vip3r, may i know whats ur card temp after changing the fan? cos i dunno whether those vga fan is really effective or not..as compare to the origin one. unsure.gif

actually, i'm not too sure. cause i installed it the moment i got my new rig. brought the fan card over from the old rig. laugh.gif anyway, my idle temps are around 65C, which i believe is quite high.. =\

Will the price of a 320Mb 8800 GTS drop below RM1k ? Right now I am saving for it, but I just can't reach for my wallet if I were to spend more than RM1k on a GPU... the most I ever spent was RM650 a few years ago on a Radeon 9600XT. Now my machine is equipped with a 7800 GTX. I was thinking 8600 GT, but seriously, it's downgrading my system...
I have heard of MSI's 8800 GTS going for RM1098.
