My first official job 2014

Job Title : Regional Marketing Operations Exec (APAC)
Age : 26
Industry : IT solutions disti
Company: Singapore company
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Entry
Experience before joining (years) : Fresh grad
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
Location : Petaling Jaya
Average Working Hours: 8-9 hours a day (timezone sucks when working on AUS project tho)

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary: RM 2500(starting) > RM 3000(got a paybump the end of the year)
Bonus: 13th month bonus

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : None. RM50 per receipt claim basis
Transport Benefits : none
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : none
Flexi Working Hours : Depends on my manager approval.

Basically I didn't even bother doing any research on the market rate back then and later found out I was underpaid for a regional role.
Need to wait till the end of the year for the increment.

The same company -got acquired by Global UK MNC 2016

Job Title : Regional Marketing Specialist (ASIA)
Age : 28
Industry : IT solutions disti
Company: UK MNC
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Managerial
Experience before joining (years) : 2 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
Location : Home based
Average Working Hours: 9-10 hours a day (90% working from home but the EU timezone diff was a bitch. 10% travel for meetings & events)

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary: RM 3000(starting) > RM 4100(paybump the end of the year)
Fixed Allowance: RM500 for transportation (yeah working from home right, just because it was hard to nego the increment)
Bonus: 13th month bonus

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : RM1500 per annum for Optical/Dental/Health
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : RM300 max phone bill claim
Flexi Working Hours : Very flexible but comes with the territory. That damn timezone diff.
Other Benefits : Travelling abroad for business(more like yumcha session) was definitely one of the highlights working here.

Working from home in your boxer during conference call, but my sleeping hours was all over the place.
Indeed the best but not worth the pay.

The same company -wanna pull me to Singapore 2017

Job Title : Marketing Communications Manager
Age : 29
Industry : IT solutions disti
Company: UK MNC
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Managerial
Experience before offer (years) : 3 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
Location : Singapore
Average Working Hours: 8-9 hours a day

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary: SGD 3000
Fixed Allowance: SGD 500
Bonus: 13th month bonus

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : SGD500
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : SGD150 max phone bill claim
Flexi Working Hours : Nope.

Ok obviously it was just an offer and their MoM wouldnt approve my S-Pass/Employment Pass application and even the appeal.
No reason were given but most can tell that the pay offered was way below SG market rate for managerial level. (cheap labor)
Ended unemployed for 10months. FML

Finally a new offer I literally just signed/accepted. 2018

Job Title : Global Communications Specialist
Age : 30
Industry : Banking
Company: MNC
Tenure : 1 Year Contract
Employment Level : Managerial
Experience before offer (years) : 4 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
Location : KL
Average Working Hours: 9 hours a day

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary: RM 6200
Fixed Contract Allowance: RM 1300
Bonus: None

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : In/Outpatient & Personal Accident Coverage
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : None
Flexi Working Hours : The HR hinted that there should be.

Apologies for the long post just wanna share my journey here. Being unemployed for 10months sucks. (freelancing getting kinda shitty)
At the end of the day it just depend on how much(salary) you think you can live with while maintaining the so called "work-life balance".
Even if you're underpaid and enjoying your day-to-day, no harm in looking out other opportunities befits your talents just as long as you can sacrifice something(your current state) for it.

From a hiring point of view, I would be wary of hiring you specifically because you seem to have spent little time in a single role before quitting. Experience is crucial for fresh grads as well as employees with less than 2 years of work experience. So when you mentioned quitting in less than a year merely because you didn't see any room for improvement/learning, it indicates lack of patience and loyalty hence you're probably only going to last 8-9 months with me.

Not saying job-hopping is bad, because it's the most efficient way to increase your income. However, the risk you are taking here is that recruiters/HR departments are looking at the dates in your resumes and thinking of the worst case scenario. To be successful in job-hopping, you need to have professional connections and network with recruiters and other HR personnel. Unless you can figure out a way to express the reasons you quit in a clear and concise way that will not jeopardize your chances in a new position, then you shouldn't have quit before securing another offer.

Please enlighten us as to what industry/field you are aspiring to be in. What is your long term career goal? Any interests at all?
