I have both actually. If Bonuslink you get 5000 points welcome bonus with RM 2K spend and on the other hand True visa will get RM 30 cash back. Both are good eventually!

I'm not a BL user, so not getting that card. Anyway, AmBank cards are not attractive, so I cancelled all. Last time still can keep for PPL purpose, after revision no longer attractive.

Unionpay card - apply by a phone call with CS, gets 2,000 KF/AM miles welcome bonus (takes about half a year to get)
Can try the Unionpay lounge at Pavilion and cancel within 1 year.

I know its not really attractive, but as milesfans we shouldn't leave any free points on the table

reason behind the new directive was to 'encourage cardholders to pay on time'. alloo if they have the means, they would have done it! and now they'll be burden for the additional fees based on the new calculation, and harder to pay full further
*
Yes, it is a very stupid directive.

The economy is going downhill ever since those
new kids on the block took over the country last year.

It seems lots of jobless these days.

Just look at the US dollar exchange rate. Our currency
plunged down the moment those guys won.

Have you noted your interest charges on your statements ?

If you look carefully, and compare with the opening balance
of your account before and after November, your interest will
surely have gone up.

It seems they are going back to the days when the
minimum payment was 15 percent.

Hmm. I didn't know interest % is important in this section, most of here just don't care, be it 10%, 15% or 20%, I think we care less. If need to make yourself into debt by paying minimum, then don't get a credit card. As simple as this.

Most of us here use CC to get privileges and benefits but we will pay full on time, no interest will be charged.

What's wrong with controlling private debt by tightening cc debts?....

You don't think using cc and not paying full is a problem?....it's called spending beyond your means....not sustainable....

but we are taking about ppl who can't afford to pay in full, and this new directive makes it even harder for those to pare down their debts

If you cannot pay in full, you shouldn't be using your cc at all.... borrowing money from cc is the worst way, second only to ah long....

Agreed. cc is just for super convenience and rewards, not for borrowing money. Those who have cc debts should rethink again whether you should have one or faster settle it and cut half your cc.

not necessary, you can apply those cc with 12 month 0% interest FPP for example HLB AA and slowly pay back rather than apply personal loan elsewhere, sometime you also can get very low 36 months 10.99% (for 3 years) or 3.99%pa offer rate from HLB or UOB for call for cash as well.
but don't ever pay minimum to cc statement, as the 18% pa is a lot as compare to what i stated above.

Even installment also need to prepare money up front. If not, most also falling trap into the debt, due to taking up too many 0% installments and not be able to pay back after few months.

Yes your are totally right, rate is lower and can save us a lot by using this installment features. But...

They are 2 type of people:

1. 0% installment... monthly only need to pay RM300 compare to 3600 one shot...ok buy. Everything 0% installment also buy buy buy, but bank has no money. For this kind of people, installment = no good.

2. Already planned to buy the things, and bank saving got significant balance already, installment = good. Balance can get some interest while payment for installment for next 12-36mths.

I applied for Ambank true visa. The bank person (by phone) persuaded me to take their visa signature card and i went for it. After reading comments here I felt this card is useless. The only thing is I can get points for asiamiles.

Btw, my application already approved, so waiting for my ambank cs to arrive.
First time applied cc. Straight tried with multiple banks. Approved by hsbc aeon and ambank. Rejected by ocbc, sc, cimb, rhb and bsn😭. Waiting for maybank
