Thanks for the useful information.

Check Garage Sales, there's few seller selling cheaper than Lazada/Shopee seller selling.

Will check it out thanks.

You only used 82GB out of 1TB, so I don't believe you have lots of software installed
Also, after switching to SSD, you will see that installing software is a lot faster than what it used to be

Actually enquiry for my sister's laptop.
Only install normal programs only.
Like Browser and Office Programs.
No games installed. Maybe later.
Just working stuff.

Only problem is that my sister's school already setup the network drive to the laptop.
Need to reconfigure after fresh installation.
As she is working as a teacher.
Nowadays getting 100% disk for the whole day and night.
Lag during video conferencing.

So, your suggestion will be fresh install?
I can do if I could remove the Windows 10 Splash Screen.
The Windows Logo.

Thanks.

I looked through and couldn't find it, actually the first step is to make sure you have enough RAM. Does your sister's laptop have at least 8GB RAM? If not, upgrade to 8GB or maybe even 16GB RAM first. If you're starting with 4GB RAM or less than the SSD impact will be much less

Second do virus/malware scan, disable useless stuff at startup.

Both the steps above are relevant even if you have an SSD. Good luck

My sister's laptop only 4GB RAM by default.
Will upgrade to 8GB if got improvements from 4GB.
My sister's case is the HDD problem already.
Everyday getting 100% Disk.

Did a malware scan also very slow.
The HDD already old and needs to be replaced with a new SSD.

Thanks.

Worn out HDD is like that. Signs of it dying. Better make a backup on important files first and then replace it with SSD before it kaput.

Why would you want to remove the splash screen? It's not like the splash screen is intrusive or bloated in some way or another sweat.gif

I've faced the dreaded 100% disk usage issue before on my friends windows 8.1 laptop. a clean reinstall of windows solved it.

Like the rest have mentioned, an SSD will definitely help. I suggest going a step further and doing a fresh OS install instead of cloning the OS over.

You reset your computer?

Doing fresh install won't affect the Windows Activation License? If want to do fresh install on an empty SSD.

Thanks.

Its usually tied to the Motherboard. But if your windows is a retail license, just reenter the cd-key during installation.

If OEM, it'll just auto activate when u reinstall.
On this note, you could search for the program that shows u your windows cd-key and write it down. This is just in case anything goes wrong.

Oh. The laptop comes with Windows we went bought it.
Model: ASUS A456U-FWX024T

OEM means the laptop comes with Windows 10 installed right?
Will monitor how. We tried to perform Virtual Memory Reset and Delete Temp files.
And also Optimize the hard drive and now no more steady 100%.
Will check again in a few days. If still not good. Will perform reset then only buy new SSD.

Thanks.

back then, games have compressed textures etc so take longer to load, but keep same quality image, (see. Crysis series.

recently, more games are becoming more open world, thus cannot have illusion of loading rooms like Half Life series anymore. All need to load seemlessly, thus they are getting more and more uncompressed with higher texture files at the same time, thus raping your HDD.
partially due to HDD prices getting so cheap only peasant run anything smaller than 1TB these days

check out the specs to find out, e.g., https://www.pcgamesn.com/crucial-mx500-ssd-...ark-performance

dram is ram, so no they will not wear out.
