corsair mp510 , gigabyte aorus, etc etc

so ppl here already talked about it....
*
on a side note though,

why samsung SSD still so expensive?
considering MP510 corsair 1TB can be had at sub RM600, while the Evo is going for 1k++ still....

Planning to buy a 1tb ssd for my laptop to replace the puny 5400rpm drive. My OS is installed on pm961 128gb ssd. Is it okay to use bx500? It is around 100+ cheaper than mx500. The drive will use for torrenting but i not full time torrent
*
QLC vs TLC....

Performance wise, should go for MX500 TLC.

No la.. using laptop only got 1 sata slot.. the OS drive is nvme pm961 128gb only..  i think cannot change if not will kacau the windows license. Now the sata slot is 1tb samsung 5400rpm drive.. so plan don kacau the os drive then have to change the sata drive lo.. or u guys got better recommendation?
*
lel.....
OS slot kacau only......
I've done it 2 million times now.....
With Windows 10 and 8, just plug in new Drive, install OS, no need get license key etc....
if you are scared, can use softwares like showkeyplsu to save the cd key first prior to mass purge tongue.gif

is it okay to do clone? just use those clone software can already ka?
*
u want clone also can....
but my personal preference is to purge everything from the past!
no more jedi, no more sith.

A Silicon Power 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD is only RM439

hi sHawTY,
is it better to get PCI-e 3.0 x16 for a nvme ssd or it's just overkill, x4 is more than enough?
btw can we just clone the existing hdd OS to the new ssd to save the hassle of reinstalling everything?
if do, what is the recommended software to do so?
Thx
*
Picture shown is not x16 though.
Honestly, even M.2 slot is typically x5 only.

If X16 slot definitely wont be that short tongue.gif

but you can fit X4 into your 2nd X16 slot on motherboard too.
heck, lots of x16 slots on cheaper motherboards aren X16 electrically anyway, just physically x16 long:P
Just looks funny.

That's not the actual cause
3 of the NVMe SSD is sitting below 2 x 2080 Ti + 1 x GT 1030 + 1 x PCI-e sound card. So a bit hard for cool air to go under all that hardware
Only 1 of the NVMe SSD has it's own fan which is the lowest capacity, the 512GB

1 x Western Digital WD Black SN750 1TB NVMe - For OS & applications
2 x ADATA SX8200 Pro 1TB NVMe - For game installations & document storage
1 x ADATA SX8200 Pro 512GB NVMe - Older SSD, might as well use it, right now using it only for Spotify offline cache laugh.gif

I still have another ADATA SX8200 Pro 512GB NVMe now back inside a box, previously used 2 of them to run RAID 0

why your setup so shit punya.....
do you really need 2nd card for 2nd and 3rd screen? doh.gif
I can use single AMD R9 to run 4 displays la tongue.gif

ok thanks.
I noticed that everyone recommend ssd with dram but I've never seen any ssd that has in its specs, need pointers to check how to look for one with dram.

edit: the ssd doesn't come with m.2 model, sorry didn't specify enough info

found a few m.2 form factor

-Crucial P1 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
-Western Digital WD Blue SN550
-Crucial MX500 M.2 1TB SSD

any of these come with dram? or recommend to use at all? just for storing some games and media.

1. Use anadtech for SSD review and specs etc. they have lots of info on almost all SSD in the market.
https://www.anandtech.com/show/13512/the-cr...-1tb-ssd-review

2. The ones you've listed, first one is NVME, last 2 is mSATA. Performance is 10 times difference between them tongue.gif
but chipset requirement is different. SATA being the cheaper more common option

I think WD Blue also got ram, but lazada rep say dont have....
maybe they misunderstood that as RAM for CPU

Hi guys, deciding on a M.2 NVME SSD to be put into B450 Tomahawk Max mobo

XPG SX8200 PRO 512GB RM418 vs
WD BLUE SN500 500GB RM389 vs
WD BLACK SN750 500GB RM489

Heard a lot of recommendations on SX8200 unfortunately the shop I'm buying from doesn't carry SX8200. Is the WD Black SN750 better than SX8200 PRO?
*
WD Blue is SATA no ? Dont think it is NVMe.

Either way, I think you can easily get 1TB NVMe at 600 plus, why not?

performance wise, WD black no better than Adata.
However, IMO, real world....unless you go measure, any SSD will still fly past you... tongue.gif

as long as you can boot from USB drive.
nothing stopping you from booting windows from your 64GB Kingston Pendrive....
but USB Speed....even USB 3.0....

USB 3 is almost as fast as SATA 6Gbps now, USB 4 is on the way.
where SATA express is nowhere to be seen because no one really bothered to support the wired connector and port.
*
USB3 as fast as SATA only when using proper drives.
pair a shit hard drive with shit controller still shit.
SATA is guaranteed performance

Currently I am having 1 SSD (WD Green 240GB) and 2 HDD on my desktop using Z77-D3H motherboard.  All 3 are connected using SATA cables.

I am planning to buy a new 1TB SSD to install as my main OS and also play games on here.

But then I just realised that it looks like M.2 SSD doesn't work on my MOBO. So my choice is to remove one of my old HDD and buy a new SATA HDD. (only max 3 SATA slots)

I am looking at WD Blue 3D NAND (WDS100T2B0A). What do you guys think about this?
*
same price as Crucial MX500.
IMO, can consider either one since both are SSD with RAM.
Either will be Usain bolt compared to your Green.

I have a Green and the MX500.
The Green being DRAMless quickly gets bottlenecked by Unifi 100Mbps when downloading games when its cache runs out.
whereas using the MX500, my downloads can maintain 10Megabytes/s for duration of 65GB thumbup.gif

You'll need to double check on the new Blue on the RAM though. hmm.gif
Anandtech review say got RAM, WD lazada website say dont have hmm.gif

your motherboard got another slot call msata, not m.2 slot, and maximum capacity available at Malaysia market is 480gb, but it will disable sata port 5 at motherboard if I using msata SSD…by the way your motherboard should have 6 SATA ports
*
I count 5 SATA slots, 1 mSATA slot.
Should be standard 2+4 config, so it shouldnt disable anything with mSATA plugged in.

Maybe TS buta, maybe TS SATA 3 slots kaput already.
IIRC, SATA III is by chipset and SATA II is by 2nd controller.

but IMO, mSATA is more obsolete than M.2 or SATA already.
might as well go for SATA since speed is same and you dont be able to use mSATA on any future systems anyway.
