can u advise how it works? As a rider, the fare seems nuts
I checked today at 8.10pm to my home is RM17, then i checked again at 8.19pm it became RM20. Only 9 minutes difference here. It's not even a 30 or 60 minutes block for changing the rate?
If we know then we won't be sitting here talking

All i can say is incentive driver getting lesser and flexi driver getting more, so demand will exceed supply, when this happen the fare will jump.
I encounter one passenger order Grab at 10pm Bangsar Village, fare to Pandan Indah is RM25 (high fare), what she do is ask her friend to drop her at Bangsar LRT, request Grab at Bangsar LRT and i pick up, the fare is RM17 (still high fare) but much lower. I suspect radius demand do count in.
sometimes few minutes can goes down, if u want to save, avoid where the crowd going, for example shopping mall closing at 10pm, for sure 9-10pm will have high demand, if u order at this hour confirm will make the demand peak.

OF course not, like Uber surge, it depends on balance of drivers vs riders demand. Why on earth would you think they would reserve a 30/60 block of minutes to fix the price? Does the number of passengers request change only every 30 mins? Solution...if you dont want to pay higher fare...wait.
PS: And dont abuse Grabshare by using it and then calling up the driver/texting driver to hurry up (even though there is a matched passenger on board). I kena this type of customer today. And to top it off, he was
short of 50 cents for the fare LOL.

Also Malaysian Grab riders seem very entitled, they are quoted a FIXED price regardless of how long the job takes. If suddenly theres a traffic jam on the way, normal teksi meter and Uber charges waiting time/minute. Yet they complain when theres dynamic demand based pricing ..... High time grab start to charge waiting time and cancellation fees here like they do in Singapore. sh1t** riders....
Uber surge is by minute wor, is really hard to keep track because it fluctuate like share market, upfront fare of RM7 then traffic jam causing more times, upfront fare is gone and u pay for the distance and time multiply by surge. I experience once and feel kinda scary.
Actually can report to Grab to say that customer paying u short of RM0.50, his account confirm suspended until paying off the dues.
