How much is the road tax for 1.5 Turbo? Roughly what is the damage for 18in tyre? What is the estimated maintenance cost for the 1.5 TC model? wub.gif

Greeting. Booked my CRV TC-P during June. Initially ordered VW Tiguan but delivery date on December, so cancelled the order.

SA said my car arrived, delivery date within this month. tongue.gif

Went to their stockyard and view the car.

People who still considering in term of exterior colour might refer to the photo for better view under direct sunlight.

Cheer. smile.gif

I booked Pearl White too, initially prefer the Olive Green too, but it is a little too dark to my preference.

5 people group buy? shocking.gif

i am currently considering between olive green or modern steel @@@ previously was an owner of insight with pearl white.. quite hard to maintain and is yellowish if compare with other white car@@

what do you guys think of olive green? i received quite a lot feedback saying the colour is like poo colour LOL... but most of them see from the picture online instead of real car.. the problem is the car is in the showroom.. can't really see the actual colour under the hot sun. Modern steel seems quite common outside nowadays.

Btw i got quite a good deal... 1.3k cash back or worth of 2k tint.. please pm me ... i can share with you the details.

I think Olive Green work the other way round.
With direct sunlight, you may see the dark green metallic color but within shaded area it appear to be black color.

Yup, April as well, their tidak-apa attitude made me worry about their spare-parts availability in the future, so cancelled it and booked CRV.

Very excited that the crv finally launched in our shore after reading much review from oversea.
Went to the showroom, sit inside the car and feel it...
Somehow the car dun feel n look premium from inside. I think accord has the more luxurious feel. Just feeling it is a very practical n realiable car. What do you guys think?

Can you share the bad reviews.
In the states, Honda sensing need only top up 1k usd for civic.

Anyone driving 2.0 New CRV? Will 2.0 underpowered?

1.5T abit pricy to maintain since the oil change is more frequent and the 18inches tyre is expensive.

The difference between 2.0 and 1.5T 2WD is the turbo engine, front parking sensor, auto wiper.

So 2.0 is still a good buy just wonder how it perform under real-world situation. I believe it is difficult to find a show room that has 2.0 Test drive car as well.

0-100kmph
2.0 is >11s
1.5T is 8.8s

Huge difference in performance

FC-wise, 1.5T should be slightly better, probably could fetch 14-15km/l on highways VS 12-13km/l for the 2.0L CVT

To add, you can save RM13k just on the price difference if you opt for 2.0L VS 1.5T 2WD

Road tax, 2.0L is more expensive by ~RM300 per year
Tyres, 1.5T is more expensive by RM200-300 per piece due to its 18" rims

Earlier I was also in dilemma between 1.5 TC and 2.0 NA but ended up with 1.5 TC as tire maybe every 2 years change so the difference not much if you put aside some money for maintenance every month.

Thank god SC is nearby if every 3 months go SC for oil change. Around RM200+- i was told each oil change.

nay, just my own estimate based. eventually you will need to follow the maintenance minder. normally 10k will take me around 6 months max based on my 1.8 Civic.

with CRV 1.5tc I expect to be at worst case 3 months or more before needing to change the engine oil

Not really and it depend on usage.
Service internal at every 10k mileage. Turbo engine are recommended to service at 7k to 8k or so.

*
My current car is civic 1.8 as last year I am still skeptical of the 1.5TC engine.

After a year so far did not see any big issue like overheat/broken down due to the 1.5TC engine other than Honda lousy QC which affects most of their model. Always wanted to get the 1.5TC but held back to observe first.

I test drove the 2.0 with the car salesperson only and definitely not able to feel any underpower and the road tested also normal without any long stretch or hilly.

If looking at paper specs, looks not much difference in terms of power other than you dont need to rev the 1.5TC like 2.0NA for torque. If you like to rev then 2.0NA better from my 1.8NA experience.

thanks. i better also try the 2.0 and see how it goes. yesterday test drove 1.5tcp, with 5 adults onboard. drive slowly but can feel there is a lot of power readily to be unleashed.

Hardly got chance to drive, busy with work and I commute using LRT. Handling is better than I expected especially at a u-turn. I do realize my light switch is kanda loose, I could accidentally switch off the light while putting on signal, probably need to visit the SC later and see what they say.

For those receiving cars soon, please do check your tire pressure as it's usually very high out of factory (mine was 290 all wheels), it makes the ride bumpy and noisy.

If you trade in ur currect car. Then the price they offer you need to factor in as well. Give u higher discount but trade in price lower will not make any difference.

i dont know the reason why they put high pressure. just that all the new car that i collect over the years the tire pressure is high and need to deflate and inflate to the recommended pressure.

Putting high pressure on new cars' tires is to prevent flat spot as cars are parked very long before delivery.

If you are looking for good FC, 2WD is suffice. Unless you are looking for better acceleration 4WD/AWD.

I have driven the CRV 1.5 TC for almost 5 days. Probably one of the early ones to get the car. Super happy with it. Extremely quiet and the power was good. Handling was nice, stable during corners. CarPlay and Siri is the future but wish Waze supports CarPlay. The audio systems lack bass. Love the digital dashboard, very nice. The LED light too bright at night/basement parking. Love the Auto Walk Away lock but hate that the car does not automatically lock when you start to drive. Overall, it is a great car. Highly recommended.

The funny thing is, the manual said it is the Default behavior. Could it be we don't have this feature.

I was told it's driver/passenger safety feature that manufacturers made the doors not auto-locked?

The doors are always in non-locked mode when no power supply eg. during accident, easy to get the victims out from car.

Correct me if i am wrong.

The best part is our manual is printed in Malaysia therefore if it is not an option due to our gomen regulation, it should have been taken out.

Also, I notice the Infotainment has Wifi in addition to Bluetooth. Does it mean it can support wireless CarPlay in future?! 🤔

It's an additional layer on the top surface of the rear bumper. It's function is to avoid scratches and other accidental damages when you are loading stuff into the trunk space

Read your blog review and would appreciate some insights.
*Any particular reasons to avoid the TCP variant? We are tempted to get the top spec cuz Honda Sensing, etc.. But debating if we'll use such extra features regularly enough to justify the added costs.
*How's noise levels inside the cabin at city speeds and highway speeds. I read on FB that it's noisy from 100km/h?
*Bluetooth phone connectivity? Performance? Calls clarity? Mic sounds pickup comfortable?
*I alternate between podcasts, radio stations and hi-res music on phone storage. Mainly podcasts. So how's the speakers? Voice/speech clarity levels in particular. In your previous review, you mentioned it lacked bass. So there's that.
*Had the chance to lug around 4 fully grown adults... Power still sufficient for zippy overtaking and hill climbs?
*Lastly, the front sensors. I'm also coming from an older vehicle and want a relatively easy to maneuver vehicle for the missus.. So front parking sensors is a must. How's the one on the CRV? Particularly in regards to road side kerbs, those low ones that one has to park perpendicular/angled lines. It's performance here is a make or break deal for us.

Thanks and feel free to addon to the above...

I don't think it's wise to addon the door visor as that will result in more wind noise.

I learned from SA that the Honda Sensing thingy is only applicable when the car is in cruise mode. Meaning long drive along PLUS highway or if you drive to Cyber often. I don't do that, so I didn't think it's worth buying.

I've been on LDP in PJ only not on any highway long enough to do > 100kmh. But at 90kmh it is very quiet. City speeds is extremely quiet as well. If you look at the bottom near the exhaust part and along the tyres, there are some sound proofing done. Some materials that was used.

Can't comment on Bluetooth as I'm using CarPlay. But mic pickup is very good. Very clear according to the missus whom I spoke to daily. The children at the back sometimes talk to their mother and the mic was able to pick their voices as well.

Speakers damn good. There are 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. 8 in total. Maybe that's the reason it lacked bass. Podcast is very clear, no issue.

Don't have chance to take 4 grown adults yet. Will let you know more.

I really like the front sensors. It helps a lot. I'm not sure if it can detect road kerbs though as I think it's not "pointing downwards". Worth to observe. But it can detect my plant leaves. Ha ha. I should take a picture of the front sensor in the 7" screen. There's like 4 spots it's Sensing, so I thought it's pretty good at covering all angles.

I googled that picture. Not my car.
I'd think you can get that protector from one of the Honda accessories package. I didn't think it was necessary.

Unless Waze supports CarPlay, I'm not sure how else you can make it work without jailbreaking.

I do a fair bit on the highway. It'd be nice to set and forget at cruising speeds and in traffic too. Nevertheless, must try it in person before purchasing to really get its worth. Seen a couple owners reviews abroad that say it's finicky at best. Mazda's Iactivsense fares better.

I've been on LDP in PJ only not on any highway long enough to do > 100kmh. But at 90kmh it is very quiet. City speeds is extremely quiet as well. If you look at the bottom near the exhaust part and along the tyres, there are some sound proofing done. Some materials that was used.
Yeah, noticed the soundproofing materials as well, and if I remember correctly, the spare tire area is also covered with it. Though in the 1.5tcp I inspected, it wasn't nicely camouflaged or covered. Please update when you've had the chance.

Can't comment on Bluetooth as I'm using CarPlay. But mic pickup is very good. Very clear according to the missus whom I spoke to daily. The children at the back sometimes talk to their mother and the mic was able to pick their voices as well.
This is great news... I plan on using Android Auto.. As long as the mic has decent gain and level..  thumbup.gif

Speakers damn good. There are 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. 8 in total. Maybe that's the reason it lacked bass. Podcast is very clear, no issue.

Much appreciated.. I also think that may not be detecting downward obstacles..

If you do find out any more pros and cons, please return to update. Keep them manufacturers on their toes. biggrin.gif

I actually prefer the no faux wood panels on the 2.0 variant. Was actually my first complaint about the vehicle when I went to see it in person. But it's definitely the 1.5t engine for me. But yeah, the interior is quite improved over the previous gen.. Wasn't expecting that as we took one look at the previous gen earlier this year and ruled it out immediately. Shifted to the CX-5 instead. So good on Honda this time. Here's to hoping that the cars being rolled out of the factory are continually subjected to high quality standards.

Nah, Waze only just supported Android Auto. Fairly certain that they'd be working on releasing for CarPlay.. Releasing for Android first is expected cuz well market share and owned by Google.. Have more access etc.

I went for test drive last week in terengganu. The SA over there quite nice to me and let me test all the sensing and everything else. I am currently driving lexus is 250. My first impression, the new honda crv really awesome. The honda sensing itself worth the buy. The noise level of course not at the same par with my lexus, but still better than most cars. Emergency brake and braking distance are excellent. The body will slightly going ?downward, so make sure everyone in the car fastent their seat beltnas emergency braking will throw them out thru fws. Handling while braking is good. 1.5tcp engine can easily reach 100km in no time.

My loan already approved, currently waiting for tender result VAW to be released end of august. Sigh. Booked my car at HNZ glenmarie

Hi,
Just got my CR-V last saturday from HZN and unfortunately no discount, no even the intoducer commission. Should have read this thread earlier for discounts but I've already made booking since last May.
I bought the 1.5 TCP.
Yes, the ride is noisy due to the tire. After reading this thread, I'll check the pressure after work.

What disappoint me is that there is no built- in GPS(navigation) or is there one?

IMO, not worth it as the current paint is pretty durable.. Just wash every week or so and apply wax/polish occasionally. Park wisely too and don't let certain stains to sit on the paint for long. As for swirl marks, have a decent car wash place. I've patronized the same joint for years and pals with the elderly owner, so when the car comes around, extra care and the good stuff is used. How do I know this? Civic 08, only had to be repainted once (all round) for around 2K, paint today still looks like new when clean..No rust.. After a wash? glistens.. I've also got a good car guy who knows how to mix the right blend of metallic paint to match mine for those minor touch-ups. biggrin.gif

However, it is not a bad idea to coat the car, for added peace of mind i guess... But here's the question I always ask the coating fellas (don't matter if ceramic or bla bla)..
1. After coating, how much taking care should I still do? Ans: They reply same as above.
2. After coating, am I 100% protected against stone/rock chips, swirl marks, rust, keying and scratches? They reply nope, not 100%.. doh.gif

See, Some scratches can be buffed right out if they don't penetrate all the way through the clear coat. So if I'm going to keep doing all the above (care, etc) that I currently do? Why would i fork out at least 4K for a good coat all around the car. When I can keep that cash and repaint the whole car in say 5 years. Also, if you get into an accident and parts replaced, you'd have to re-coat again.. doh.gif Oh yeah, between proper wax and Rain-X application on all windows, I get the exact or nearly identical hydrophobic effect all over the car as most coatings do too..

Now paint protection films or wraps are a different story. I'm completely not into wraps.. but still on the fence towards PPF. I'm definitely going to put on security tint on all windows, cuz while I may be able to react coolly in an incident, the missus will probably freeze up and so some smash protection is required.. My 2 cents.

Wow, 1st time I've heard that someone isn't interested in using the superior GPS navigation built into the phone... Good on you.
Going to check this out next..  notworthy.gif

Anyone know what is the purpose these two gold pins on the brakes are? And it's so fragile. I'd imagine some vandals will just break it off. They seemed to be only seen on the two rear wheels. The front wheels do not have these.

Btw, I have updated my review with photos of the front/back sensor. I think @voncrane might be interested.

You are welcome... Paint defects from the factory?? hmm.gif

Oh yeah, for those who are waiting for Waze on Apple CarPlay, you would have to wait longer than anticipated and quite possibly indefinite. As Apple at the moment has blatantly refused for third-party maps to co-exist with their Maps app. No official Waze support until Apple specifically allows access to their APIs.

I hope they will get sued for billions again by European court for anti-monopoly. Anyway, I think the safer bet is to wait for Android Auto to launch here first?

thinking 2.0 with 17 inch tires will be cheaper but the tyre is not the usual size like xtrail and previous gen of crv. so, seems the price on par with 18" also.

The security film, e.g. diamond or crystal series cannot be applied to front windscreen. It could be just gold series or other thinner film. The issue of using smart tag does not applicable here. Just my two cent.

yes. diamond 6 package with gold (not security film) while crystal 6 package with silver.

problem with smart tag is not on the thickness, more on the material used. but tint nowadays most likely smart tag friendly.

Quoted by Huper Optik, Front Sech60 and window HS40 6mil, at RM1900.

Sorry to say that, be it 3M or any others "branded" tinted, I think RM3200 is too expensive.

From my previous experience, any tinted cost between RM 1.5k - RM 2.5k is sufficient enough, just make sure what you pay is what you get (you know what I mean, especially your SA sent your car for tinted first before delivery).

so, if got brake lock, it wont be so easy.

I get 2.3k from non 3M authorized dealer.

My first car done in authorized

2nd car done in non 3M authorized dealer. Both have same color quality and heat rejection. Both have the similar 3M watermark.
The only different is warranty.

if i am not wrong, for TC, only there is chance you need to top up or change engine oil more often. that's why they do not put the oil change interval into the maintenance schedule.

and the price shown is after 15% discount.

I discovered a tip: the volume switch on the steering wheel is also touch sensitive. Slide your finger on it to make the volume louder or softer. Pretty cool.

It is actually the brake pad retainer clip / or pin you called it.
It used to indicate the thickness of the brake pad and house the pad in place so it won't rattle and squeak.
When the pad worn out, the pin pushes the pad inner.
The front have it too, just the placement is differ from the rear.

Thank you for your explanation. But why such an odd placement and not covered. Someone who's tangan gatal can just break the pins easily. Not very vandal proof.

Agreed. But I think people normally vandal exterior body panel instead.
Let's not be worried, brake components will be freaking hot after drive, that will burn the "tangan gatal" guys' hand if he try to do something unusual.

I didn't feel the engine was too loud, to be honest. But yet, I can hear a very slight winding down, whooshing pitch as I slow down. It sounds like a plane engine winding down. Not bothering though. I think it's my ears being sensitive, but yet not sensitive enough to feel the engine is loud.

Sun shade from Honda is identical to Groovy (got CR-V label liner), I would chose the cheapest though since both serve the same purpose.

On the flip side, overall cabin noise is very much quiet, yet a little bit of intrusive engine note is so noticeable.

Groovy shade is not out yet, estimate end of this month. The Honda one is magnetic, while Groovy comes with a magnetic clip that clips on the sunshade, if you are fussy like me, you won't like it. Honda shade has a downside, it doesn't come with the shade for the front seat. I got my Honda for free.

Rear end is the portion I admired the most now, especially you can see the rear light from the side mirror.

I feel Gen 4 CRV front is nicer than Gen 5. It's contour is a smile shape while the Gen 5 contour is a fierce lion shape.

But Gen 5 rear is nicer than Gen 4.

I found this product advertised online : It's like the rubber mat but with small square grooves like waffle. From the video show - it's easy to throw dirt and easy to clean.

Can check this website : www.trapo.asia

I used them to replace the stock ones. You can use the stock ones until they wear off. But for me, I find the stock ones don't serve its function as well as it should be, and also not easy to clean. So I usually straight away changed them with Trapo, and store the stock ones as backup tongue.gif

I used Trapo too. Normally I'll put on top the original mat. sometime you know if any water spill on the edge at least it will not go direct to floor pan. as the secondary original mat will get wet so you can easily wash the original mat rather than it wet the floor pan.

I like Trapo because the bottom part does come with Velcro that can stick on top your original mat.

Trapo looks good as advertised when it's clean, but will any dirt or sand be visible once it's dirty? Those coil matt can hide those unsighty dirts though.

I've just checked out the bodykit and running boards for the previous CRV Gen 4 in order to have a rough estimate for this new CRV ones in the future. The bodykit is around RM1700 to 2200. While the running board varies between RM400 to 700. So basically the ones from Honda is around double the prices outside. Not very sure about the differences in quality though.

I got a quote of the running boards for 1.3k (after market) which is half the price of the ori one from honda.

the aero front bumper will have a different set of DRL which is nicer. if outside can do the same with half the price, can consider. but to me, anything that need to do like that and need painting, i prefer to do it in honda.

actually, just to give you a perspective.. even if you get 2.45%, the difference is just RM300/400 over 9 years.
So unless you can get 2% (which is unlikely), whatever 0.0x% does not make any differences.

Yes, you'd have to. It's possible, can't recollect exactly but I've seen a video where the wallpaper was changed. Check on YouTube.

Earlier, stopped by a showroom to check out the vehicle with significantly less people than last time around. Asked to test the front sensors detection level and wasn't impressed. The top variant repeatedly failed to detect objects directly in front of it or roadside kerb-like heights. Only those objects of a certain height to the left and right extremities were detected... shakehead.gif

Usually the after market one will cost around RM250 to 300, with similar quality. But how long we would have to wait for them to be available I'm not so sure.

That and in addition to where the sensors are positioned and pointing towards. Now, the ground clearance is high and so should not pose an issue for most kerbs in the city. But say a concrete/similar pillar or even a big flower pot that's positioned smack in the middle... Driving towards either of those raised no warnings. Others can test this.. Could be the vehicle I was given to test and I only tested for that (holding out for a full proper test drive) as I've pointed out earlier in the thread, it's a make or break decision for me.

Wasn't aware I'm supposed to have a reference. Earlier this year, I remember testing the CX-5 and it too failed to detect low roadside kerbs and I can't remember how well it detected other objects or if I specifically tested for such as in the CRV. But I do remember being disappointed and decided to wait for the soon to be launched 2017 models. The incoming CX-5 shows 4 sensors up front vs the 2 on the outgoing model and the latest CRV. So we'll see about that when it launches. Theoretically, 4 is better than 2. smile.gif

On another note, the color for me is definitely Dark Olive Metallic. It looks quite good. For those interested in booking this color, was informed 3 - 4 months waiting time. But that production is being ramped up and so should be delivered sooner than later.

I saw 4 front sensors on mine, the others two you missed even closer to the ground, located upon a more sensible place.
Need not to worry actually, it is quite sensitive, it get triggered every time when motorcyclist passed by really near to my car during traffic light waiting.

4 front sensors, windscreen camera sensor and even a front radar for Collision Mitigation Braking System and Forward Collision Warning. There are whole bunch of active safety features up front. Even if you intend to bang the car in front also your car won't allow. No worried lah. sweat.gif

yeah, if you look at my blog which I showed a photo of the dashboard showing the front sensor alert, the dashboard a outline of a car with alerts already.. depicting the 4 sensors that is actively detecting. And as @Neo_Y photo of the front vehicle show, the two sensors facing front is already below the number plate. How low do you want it to be, unless you are really looking for a front camera then.

From the image below, the 2nd sensor from the left is red - it is because of a jutting "branch" from my flower pot. The flower pot itself is detected by the 3rd sensor in yellow, still quite a distance, but the branch is near the car. If that is not "low" enough, I am really not sure what you are expecting.

btw, any owner put on an amplifier in the new CRV? I dismantled my Alpine from the old car, but not sure if I want to put in the CRV just yet. I don't think it will benefit unless I also get a bass speaker..

Cuz:
1. Added cost.
2. Warranty void.. I asked and got that response.

Okay, perhaps I wasn't detailed enough in my previous post... The sensor is able to pick out objects from the frontal sides, so a motorcycle passing by or a crisscrossing vehicle/human or whatever from the side, WILL get detected if close enough. Things I got no detection from were objects that were tall enough and wide enough to be detected, if approached from at an angle.. But NOT from pitch center.. Vehicle was less than 2 ft away, got down to check.

Thanks for pointing out the other 2 sensors and I'm not worried about hitting a vehicle or wall in front, those are large and visible enough.. Plus, I have no issues parking it anywhere, my sensor concerns are based on the missus. Who's more of a sedan vs CSUV person. Wouldn't want unnecessary bumps and scrapes.

Now, it could very well be that the two front-most sensors on the vehicle being tested were...for lack of a safer description.. "switched off", hence the low detection rate. I did mention that I didn't drop by for a detailed test drive and others could check and report back. Just gathering data points.

Nope, I did think of it, but not looking for an aftermarket front camera.. At least, not to lose warranty over such. Also, with the CRV's ground clearance and as pointed out in my earlier post, roadside kerbs or car park stops are non-issues. So it's not about how low, it was about solid (not vehicle-sized) objects in the center point/view.

No worried lah.  sweat.gif

Hi, would like to ask, how does this pearl white different from other white color? Cos it needs 400 extra compared to the metallic colour

Which car did you use as reference for the comparison of the front sensors detection level?

I asked because my lexus is250 front sensors also have difficulties detecting road kerbs. For me, given that high ground clearance of SUV, low detection sensitivity not a big worry.

It it just "Pearl White", nothing special.
Just like other manufacturer, metallic paint need to pay extra as compare to solid paint and white with pearl metallic effect cost even more.
Need to use more "metallic" coat, perhaps?

Anyway, I like this Pearl White color, especially I've done coating, super bright and shine during day time, at night show a bit tint of yellowish.

Test drove today the tcp version. As this is my first time driving suv, it is very easy to drive and park, in fact better than my c segment sedan.

But just curious, it does not feel spacious from driver POV. Maybe comparable to jazz and slightly roomier than HRV. CRV is a c segment or d?

QUOTE(voncrane @ Aug 5 2017, 12:55 PM)
Cuz:
1. Added cost.

Just gathering data points.
rclxms.gif
Nope, I did think of it, but not looking for an aftermarket front camera.. At least, not to lose warranty over such. Also, with the CRV's ground clearance and as pointed out in my earlier post, roadside kerbs or car park stops are non-issues. So it's not about how low, it was about solid (not vehicle-sized) objects in the center point/view.
*
Did you successfully triggered the front detection even once?
Because the front sensors can be switch off and mine come switched off by default, also the lane departure warning.
Please refer to the photo, two of both features need to be turned on.

CRV is a compact crossover. It is not those full size SUV like land cruiser, range rover sport, CX9 and so on.
Exterior wise, I believe it is slightly bigger than any C seg sedan, passenger at the back got huge head and leg room, in fact, it is best in class already. For driver POV, kind of agreed, but I'm not a big fella myself, so not an issue, I think it is quite spacious.

No offense but does such SUV you have in mind exists? At the same price point? Coz you said it's a make or break but it could also mean you might not be driving an SUV after all.

No offense, but why do you have to be so defensive? I get that you just bought the ride and love it with all your heart and all that. But if you can't trouble yourself to actually read my posts objectively, then commenting will be pointless. I walked in to an SC, was offered to test drive within the compound, solely to checkout the front sensors. I refused to do a proper test drive, so as not to waste the SA's time as I wasn't ready to purchase cuz waiting on competition and test back to back. That's the point of a test drive, to notice as many things possible and consider if we can live with them or not. I don't know about you, but if I can completely avoid or significantly reduce some personal pet peeves, the lower the buyer's remorse.

I'll say it again.. Objectively read my posts. During my testing, the vehicle had a blind spot of sorts. Go on YouTube, etc, there are tons of videos showing kids being run over cuz high riding, can't see below or just plain not paying attention. I can imagine such front sensors stopping me or the missus from accidentally running over a kid and having to deal with the nightmare. Wouldn't you? Should you renact the test and not find any blind spots, then great... Means the fault was limited to that particular vehicle and future buyers can check for this before accepting their vehicles, as a matter of precaution. I'm not looking for a unicorn-like CSUV, just one that performs the best to my requirements.

I am not being defensive. I didn't care if people like the CRV or not even though I have bought one. If everyone buys what I bought, there won't be so many choices. I am just coming from the old-age saying that there's no perfect 10 in everything so some give-and-take is expected in any acquisition. As mentioned, I am not intending to offense, nor am I defensive of my purchase. To each his own.

Radar wave type has sensor won't be able to pick up small object signal. Looks like u need those aftermarket electromagnetic type sensors. Just Google up "electromagnetic parking sensor"

Of course there's no perfect 10 for all.. There can be a perfect 10 for some. I'm seeking a close to perfect 10 for me. Same as most car buyers, if I wasn't, I'd simply walk in, purchase and deal with the issues later. I'd rather not, hence pre-purchase research. So yeah, to each his own. No worries, I appreciate your real world reviews.. cool2.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Have no such problems with the reverse sensors on my older civic... It's even able to detect those slim and cylindrical metal bars that are found in some parking lots. Thanks for the suggestion. smile.gif

For about the same price, you can get much better heat rejection (TSER in the spec sheet) from other brands like Huper Optik or Raytech.

My uneducated judgement in terms of fuel consumption: I have driven about 350km so far and the fuel tank went down by 60%. Full tank is about 53 litres according to the manual. So 60% of 53 litres is 32 litres which is around 11km/litre.. Good or bad?... is that consistent with other owners?

probably easier if you just drive until the next refuel. then you can see how much it cost you to refuel and how much mileage done. then, you will have the number.

what did the car fuel consumption meter show?

The new 1.5T CRV should return 10-11km/l on city driving and 13-15km/l on highways.

In the air bag section, it did mention that "Make sure the floor mat behind the front passenger’s seat is hooked to the floor mat anchor. An improperly placed mat can interfere with the airbag sensors."

But that's for the back seat. I just cannot compute how floor mat can block sensors hmm.gif

What's this plus and minus?

It's not accelerate /decelerate in cruise.

When I press it, the D became D1, D2. I think it's like the gear box pushing it to 2 and 1, just below D, for overtaking?

What's this plus and minus?

It's not accelerate /decelerate in cruise.

When I press it, the D became D1, D2. I think it's like the gear box pushing it to 2 and 1, just below D, for overtaking?

My uneducated judgement in terms of fuel consumption: I have driven about 350km so far and the fuel tank went down by 60%. Full tank is about 53 litres according to the manual. So 60% of 53 litres is 32 litres which is around 11km/litre.. Good or bad?... is that consistent with other owners?

I think it's too early to tell... Allow the engine some distance to break in..

You don't put another floor matte on top of the existing floor mate because the aftermarket floor Matt might jammed the pedal and causing accident

Um, how to use  whistling.gif  sweat.gif

Paddle shifters...Think manual transmission... Sometimes used together with the "S" mode. Each time you pull the + (right), the transmission shifts to a higher gear. Pull the - (left) to downshift. You should see the selected gear number on the instrument panel.

S also means secret mode active. Theres a few steps to take to take advantage of this mode.
1. Shift to S and turn off ECO mode
2. Honk 3 times.
3. Hold brake hard to the floor with left foot.
4. Press accelerator pedal down with right foot to reach 5000rpm.
6. Let go left foot when light turns green and keep right foot on accelerator pedal to the floor.
7. Turn on hazard light if you pass people driving next to you.
Thats it.

A mini satellite sign just popped up suddenly and I don't think our cars come with Navigation or Satellite Radio.
I believe the Satellite / GPS receiver is ready and fitted in the head unit for others Android apps.
I'm glad the HU support others languages instead of just English (can display chinese and korean words as tested).
Was tested in VW Tiguan back then, chinese words appeared in boxes only. tongue.gif

Hmm, makes sense to leave the gps hardware connected to boost its usage for AA/CarPlay. As the phones are generally tucked away and may have trouble seeking gps signals.. FYI: Absolutely haram, the second pic.. Later some silly butthurt fellow hit the report button on your post.. Don't give in though tongue.gif

That day, while waiting for the missus to get ready, I was curious how long is the CRV vs the wife's Nissan. So, I just put my feet one in front of the other. Assume my feet = 1 feet la.. So, the CRV is 13" long while the wife Nissan Sentra was 12" long. Agak agak la.

Is Honda sensing really useful? I haven't tried it. I felt that it could be useful at times, and also counter productive too

Will the windscreen cost more due to the tech?

I also heard from SA that it will not work during heavy rain

If it's really smart enough to brake when I really need it, not when I don't need it. I wouldn't mind to pay more than 12k for it

I had tested it on hway KL-PG-KL all the way. It does it job but of course you cant fully rely on it. I had a few encounter where suddenly the car change lane in front then i had to apply brake myself as I didnt wait for the car to auto brake. Didnt want to risk. No chance to test the ACC during rain but tried the lane watch during heavy rain and dark. It works.

No chance to try the LSF yet in town. Ppl might think u r weird as the distance between cars is quite a distance.
I had experience in a BMW before with similar thingy and it also has its flaw especially night time.

I bought Trapo. Thanks for the introduction. It's feels great and I saw the demo of how easily you can just beat the mat to have all the sands fall off. It is super water resistant, so very easy to clean off and there's a lot of Velcro strap all over to make the mat stays in its place. I bought the combo package that came with the mat at the rear boot and I like that it is able to hold on to things from sliding, due to its rubber nature, as you make sharp corner. It's expensive, but I think it's worth it long term. The only thing I didn't like is the mark made by your foot print can be visible. For example you walk on a dusty floor, and step into the mat, the whitish , chalk like, foot print is made visible on the rubber. I think a coiled mat or a cloth like mat will be able to hide this.

Cannot stand the stock sound system, mid and high range is okay but totally no bass, overall too flat to my liking.
Added a underseat woofer, additional mild bass filled in between the stock eight speakers, much better.
Push your stock speakers with an AMP won't do much, a 6.5" drivers will never match the 8"/10" woofer.
You may contact or search " Etoni Car Audio " in FB for more information.

The lack of bass disturbed me as well but you are right, putting an amp will not improve the stock. Your photos are intriguing as I expect a bass box to be higher and bigger. I didn't know they have made one that is flat and can fit under the seat, so that's interesting to me to think about. BTW, the manual did warn not to put things under the passenger seat in case it interferes with the SRS air bag. Are you not concerned about it?

My F30's stock bass are placed underseat too, both passenger and driver side, so I think it is a sensible place.
The airbag is fitted in the side bolster, and the actuator is located underseat, as far as I concern, the woofer didn't even touch anything under the seat, everything should work just fine.
If that concern you, you can actually place it everywhere, in the boot, or under the rear passenger seat.

Thanks for your reply @Neo_Y. Yeah, likely I will place under the rear passenger seat. Have two young kids who will tend to kick things in front of them such as this woofer and the amp if I put under the front passenger seat, aside from safety (airbag) concerns. Also, I think the rear passenger seat could house both my Alpine amp (from the older car which was traded in) and this slim subwoofer side by side. Will check out Etoni - your shop?

Honda Sensing is not autonomous driving , although it does assist in terms of adaptive cruise control . lane assist and few others

Okay the problem is Malaysian roads , now the whole adaptive cruise control is great but the problem is it keeps a very far distance (you know malaysians like to keep as close as possible) and plus there are motorbikes. I was told that the Honda sensing software was tuned for Malaysian roads but again , take it with a pinch of salt

It's more of nice-to-have functionality that trains you to be better drive. Try cutting lane without signaling , the system would just beep !

Tested LSF on LDP during the morning jam, it works well but a little scary at first cause the car just drives itself with you holding the steering. The distance from the car in front can be adjusted to approximately 1 car length though default is much further than that.

For Lane departure it will not be just audible signal, also light steer.

Auto breaks won't work if car suddenly cut in, it's stated on the owner's manual. However I realize it still works in low speed during the typical Malaysian Q cutting.

I find it really weird why many don't want such technology in the car, just get it, it's a no brainer. Of course you can't rely entirely on it.

Android auto works if you sideload the apk , I use it every time I drive.

Mind to share how to download the apk and make it work?

Wouldn't it void the warranty? Honda SA will just say that if anything is not done at Honda service centre, shall anything happened, warranty will be voided, including windscreen and window tint. So it's like need to kinda overpay for the tint, so that we would still have the warranty.

For the entire 5 years, we have to pay whatever the service center charges us. Good and bad at the same time.

You install the apk in your android phone, not the car, nothing to do with the car warranty. Just get it from apkmirror like @voncrane said. For installation, google for sideloading.

For windows tint, if one install the security film outside and the thickness causes the auto window to malfunction, Honda won't accept the warranty claim. It doesn't affect the non-security film. So if you wish to use vkool, just go ahead.

Here you go -> https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/ . Download and install it

Connect it to your CR-V , you'll get a prompt on your android and in CRV. Allow it and you would see Android Auto to load automatically biggrin.gif

Now enjoy !

You mind doing a sound recording and upload? Don't remember hearing tak tak tak sound. Is it after you off your engine and it's cooling down?

Could it be because you are in an enclose/car park environment? I just listened to the engine this morning and it was ok (to me).. but I'm in open porch... the other thing is perhaps to compare to another CR-V, maybe.

That's why I very much prefer the organ type accelerator pedal instead of this suspended type pedal. Much safer and better in avoiding objects stucked underneath/on top of it.
Unfortunately organ type pedal can only mostly be found on conti/premium cars.
But some non premium cars such as Kia/Hyundai also use organ type accelerator.

Had test driven the CR-V yesterday, TC-P model. It felt heavy, and the engine noise was loud. Other than that, overall looks and feels good. It's a toss between the TC AWD model or Forestor 2.0iS .. I hate that the TC model doesn't come with Active Cornering Lights and Power Rear Gate , and the TC-P doesn't come in AWD variant.

Which dealer offers the best deal at the moment?

I'm kinda torn on the idea. I get the practicality part and wouldn't mind an organ type. However, I do drive using the top part of my foot, making the alternative an easier drive sometimes. Either way, safety first right.. smile.gif

Yes, it's a good idea. But then, sensors can fail and manufacturers will end up being blamed when the airbags deploy but the doors don't auto-unlock. Bad publicity gets the most news and to tell the truth, the average Malaysian car owner is known to not bother about checking/repairing non-critical components.

Looking at mine by 8k i need to do oil change. For 1k probably they want to check if everything is ok. For me i had complaints on the paint defects and the rear tail lamp not fitted properly in one side.

yeah.. Turbo Charge engine requires more frequent oil change.. so I already have that expectation. Oh, sorry to hear about the paint defects and lamp fitting. Lamp fitting is easy to fix; but paint - how? If they touch up, won't you have patches?

They try to polish up and still a few maybe i will talk to the SA what he can do.

As i was talking to the SC on the quickest oil change for turbo they have seen so far is about 5000km. He was telling me that traffic jam always will also reduce the mileage of oil change

Yeah, the Trapo came with a bag for you to store your original mat - very thoughtful of them.
So, I will keep the original map as backup. Also, what other posters said about putting another mat on top of original is dangerous. So, better not do it.

In addition, I would imagine dirt/dust would collect below Trapo on the original mat. Very unhygienic ..

Isn't 5000km for oil change pretty standard? I don't know, my old car, I change at 5000km and if I use Shell Helix, it's 7000km. Maybe new car is different. So, to me, 8000km change is very good dy.

Of all the information in the dashboard, I find the fuel economy gauge, which is displayed as a bar chart that moves left and right, very distracting and ugly. It's basically not a very helpful gauge. Anyone find it useful?

Just did first inspection (1K service) yesterday, only general checking without changing oil.
For those who got no complaint, you may ask the SA to only chop sign the service booklet and run off. (IMO, waste time)

There are "SERVICE A" (according to the instrument cluster and it vary depending on your usage) and "SERVICE B" (10K service interval), so when your car prompt you for service maintenance due, you must do your oil change alongside the Honda 10K service interval.

My next service said to be on 10K after, but the instrument cluster there shows 3500K.
So in my case, I need to do service after 3500K (or the car prompt me to do so), that's the service A and the mileage will be reset (I believe it will show 7k-8k).
If I continue driving, eventually, I may do the service A and service B together at 10K mileage.

Kind of confusing, hope you guys understand. sweat.gif

You have lesser mileage than mine. I think it says "distance to oil change to" is 3500+ODO (my understanding). I was told again the the SC on the Service A and B requirements and not to ignore it as it will void the warranty. I know this requirement before i decide to buy the TCP but was hoping to prolong the A to match with B intervals.

That is the price to pay driving turbo charged engine. I wonder other conti cars having the same kind of service requirements on their turbo engine.

Others conti car normally service at 10K or 6 months, whichever come first.
The longest one as I know like Benz or VW, 12K-15K or 1 years, whichever come first.

To my understanding, TCP service interval could be A-AB-A-AB, in which sometime B could be done with A.
Was told by SA that Service A only do engine oil change without changing the oil filter while B changes both.
So basically 10K service interval is BS, Honda used to be 5K/3 months interval back then and I don't see any different this time around.

One SA told me, the Service A is to top up engine oil, not change. I am not sure how true is it.

I just checked my car instrument panel. I have only 747km in Odometer but I have 2700km to go to oil change??! what the heck? Confuse!

To my knowledge, honda's turbo engine is monitored by the computer when the oil change is required which we cannot ignore therefore there is service A. Service B is the regular service every 10k or 6 mth whichever comes first.

On service A, it should be the driving pattern and also traffic condition. The frequent oil change shall prolong the engine life. i was told by many people that most turbo engine which operate on high pressure/temp will result the engine oil to vaporize (or reduced) overtime. According to the honda SC which service A is to change the oil and not top up. I am not sure if our engine is designed in such way and the frequent change can really help to prolong the engine lifetime since other conti turbo engines doesnt have such requirement.

Most new cars nowadays on NA engine will last 10k or 6mth. Only those old ones requires 5k service.

Hope it helps to clarify

Does it mean if we regularly top up, the service trigger will hot happen and can service every 10k?

I am not sure. Maybe we can monitor the dip stick level at the engine.

Try to read a bit at civic club page for more understanding as civic got the 1.5 tc engine much earlier than crv. They have quite a bit of explanation on the turbo engine for better idea

Funny thing - I swear I didn't see this blinking red light at the dashboard for the past 3 weeks but I saw it today! Hmmmm... probably an indication the car is locked and armed with alarm (or not since I didn't install any alarm)... anyone notice this or it escaped you as well?

Force open means, arm it with alarm, and use key to open the door.

if i am not wrong, for immobilizer, your car key has a chip in order to start the car. says, someone dupe your key (the metal key), still cant start ur car if u lock ur car with the alarm system as the immobilizer is engaged.

as the Connex service, nothing more than a gps tracker and the accompanying service.

If it is standard, then they will have 2 models only - TC 2WD and TC 4WD. And one price which is the TC-P price. I am glad they are offering options.

Marketing "Sensing" and laneWatch in nice advertisement. But turbo 1.5 2wd and 4wd,got no sensing and laneWatch features. Cut cost, higher profit margin?? Why get turbo engine except premium spec, in the first place? Enjoy bigger cabin?? Get civic as same engine family and turbo performance.

Only premium spec can sense "danger" while on the road..

She's a keeper.. smile.gif

Mine is the other way around.. The missus prefers a sedan cuz low riding and I, an SUV cuz I'm a giant and easier to enter and exit, plus more space. The Camry hybrid's boot is much smaller. We almost bought the Toyota Camry Hybrid cuz the Accord doesn't cut it. Mazda 6 was fancy and all but was too driver-focused for a family car...not our deal. We were attracted to and decided to view the CX-5 in the same showroom. It's practicality instantly appealed to me and after much haggling and a couple test drives, she realized that our current and future needs would be better served by a CSUV. So camry went off the table. Fortuner was too big and weird to handle. Tiguan appeals to me but then VW Malaysia sweat.gif. Now it's the CRV vs the incoming CX-5.

To avoid getting the "I told you so" lecture and sleeping on the couch, I'm doing as thorough a research as I can on both vehicles. nod.gif

Do you guys realize that the vanity mirror doesn't, have a lamp. The previous crv have it and the top range hrv have it too. Cost cutting by Honda Malaysia. I wish ours have blind spot with rear cross traffic monitoring instead of lane watch camera. Hands free kick sensor on power boot. Factory built in subwoofer, remote start and memory seats too.

Hmm, didn't notice the lack of a lamp. Not particularly troublesome but it would have come in handy for some occasions. I completely agree with the rest, particularly BSM+RCTA (Very practical), remote start to pump liquids around the engine for cold starts and pre-cool the cabin, and memory seats. I did notice, while honda lane watch takes care of the left side, nothing for the driver's side. Was disappointed at the showroom for that. Oh well, still a decent package. Face-lift maybe.

I agree with the RCTA. But for BSM I would much prefer the lane watch. Yes, ppl argue that only the passenger side but if for driver side, you need to look at the center console to check is kind of distracting ( vs looking at right side mirror). Furthermore right side mirror have larger area of viewing compared to viewing the left side. Furthermore for lane watch, you can activate it when navigating those tight and narrow lane.

But if it comes with both lane watch and BSM then it's a win

IMO, while driving I prefer looking at the side mirrors for confirmation before making lane changes, its more natural than staring at the center console, which is distracting as you pointed out, so those BSM icons in the mirrors will do actually. One's eyes are naturally drawn and kept at the side mirrors to check blind spots and see objects close to the sides. I mean, I'll have to constantly remind myself to check the right side mirror for objects on the right side of the vehicle... And switching to the center console and the left side mirror (double check) for objects on the left? seems a bit of a hassle.. No? rclxub.gif .. Anyway, guess with added practice, one gets used to it.

So yeah, I do agree with your last statement.. Having both features on both sides is the win! Yeah, humans right... Never satisfied laugh.gif

I like those that came in bright red colour. That way, thiefs can tell from afar that it's no point to steal the rims. Deterrence. Does it come with different colour?

Unfortunately just 1 color. One thing good for honda is the key to open these lock nut which if it is lost, it can be reorder again with HM by the serial number of each set.

Hi Guys,

Is Obsidian Blue Pearl color hard to maintain like balck color? I don't see much CRV on the road with this color so it's either not popular or too popular that it's out of stock 😅

Any advice ?

ah, what a shame ... but yeah, having able to reorder with HM because the keynum is computer generated is one huge advantage.
