went for Ceramic Pro. no regret so far. service is very good.

Did you guys tested your rear fog light? Went to first service and been told by Honda that only the driver side rear fog light is functional, the other one is not (just a dummy) wth? lol they said it is similar to HRV  sweat.gif

That's a worry if you're in a fog.. cos other people may think you're not as wide as your car..

maybe write to Honda and quote this people for clarity.

No car in this price bracket ticks all the boxes in my opinion. The tiguan... good chassis, but they didn't spec their better engines in Malaysia. The CX5, hmm for me no adaptive cruise and no android auto/carplay otherwise its really tempting. The CRV.. well yeah its a bit noisy when you wind it up according to reviewers. I guess i'll just have to imagine the honda engineers allowed the drive train to resonate to make you think its speedier. But CVT's have their advantages too. So I guess weigh it all up and see which takes your fancy.

My question to those with the sensing package, how is your experience? Does it work well in the malaysian urban setting with cars cutting into your lane? How well is the adaptive cruise on the highway with the lane assist and steer back.

Is the cvt covered for the 5 year warranty? Don't hear much about CVT failure on the crv. But I think it'd be pretty expensive to replace if you if it breaks down or needs repair. What do you all think?

I'm posting my insight from civic here in-case you guys find it useful:

Sharing tricks for by pass HU, hope i'm not too late, this trick was already on civicx forum since June. No Y-cable installation required. No rooting android required. Reversible. (Note i have not test all the function yet but it looks promising, as always do it at your own risk)
No pic for guidance try to use your imagination  biggrin.gif  I won't be explaining every detail but here it goes:
Step 1: Go to HU android browser

Step 2: Clear the browser address and enter exact following input without the quotes "about:debug" then press go (nothing will happen first, it's intended)

Step 3: Clear the browser address again and this time enter exact exact following input without the quote "file///" then press go
(by now you should see file menus)

Step 4: In the file menu navigate to vendor>app> then search for something like 'whiteListService.apk' and tap it. (Warning: do no tap on any other files or apk, i do not know what will happen but be warn)
It will ask for installation, allow it and tap the install button, then it will prompt installation failed, nevermind that is also intended.

Last Step: Hold power button and restart the HU. Now try and see by pass is working or not, play movie, browse picture..etc

Well, as for more tech savvy guys, u should have guessed by the name whiteListServiceApk, this is how honda does restriction for our HU. It is better than rooting, just alter the whitelist.xml will work as intended. Personally i have not tested it yet but people in civicx sort of confirm this approach worked for installing external apk.

I've tested on CR-V the "by pass". It works for HU default browser and calculator and setting is enable even when vehicle is moving but i haven't got the chance to test the hdmi mirror link yet.

Thanks I hope this works when I get my crv.

Could you let us know if the hdmi video displays while you're moving please?

Good for you. Will try it myself.
Thanks!

Have not been following your posts above but I'd suggest updating your huawei to the latest firmware builds as well.

Mine did not initially connect and after some stuffing around worked too. But AA has also been updated. I've got mine off google playstore because i was an early adoptor, and not just the apk. So perhaps get the latest AA too.

Not to spam or talk bad about CRV/Civic 1.5T engine, but in US warmer states been reporting oil/fuel diluting issues. I believe Malaysian owners should also be aware of this as it is going to be a global thing. Not only in colder climate countries.

https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-...-rollout-plans/

"But some consumers say the problem occurs in warmer-weather states, too. For example, CR has heard from CR-V owners in Arizona, California, Delaware, Texas, and Nevada. And the database maintained by NHTSA includes accounts of this oil-gas mixture problem from CR-V owners in Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, and Virginia."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVdKNRgzGT8

Honda even came out a video mention this oil/fuel diluting issues is in most cases, that’s okay. “What you’re seeing is a normal occurrence for this engine,” the video states.
“Some engine oil dilution is normal, even in warmer-weather states,” Martin says.  doh.gif

I've been watching some videos and it seems to me if your engine does not warm up to the normal level after a while, then you should try to drive it more, to give the petrol a chance to evaporate. Problem usually occurs in cold climates where people don't use the car as often.

Having said that has anyone in Malaysia noticed this problem?

I've got the 1.5 variant. after 15 months the gear knob finally gave out. Initially i was able to push the metal lever inside to engage the gear. But as the plastic crumbled, some of it got stuck and the gear could not engage.

But the good news is that once you take out all the crumbled bits, you can push the metal lever down and move the gear shaft.

When the honda SC technician examined and the first thing he looked for was the spring. Its just a 2cm long.

I'm glad i didn't lose the spring cos its not under the replacement warranty. If you lose the spring its RM100 to replace.. Well that's what he said.

Anyway i did not repair it then, but decided since i could drive the car to get it done with the normal service.

Lets see what my usual SC says about this unfair charge..

no its 15 months old... so this is a 2017 car. i tried to be as gentle as possible.. but if the plastic is brittle, its not going to last. hopefully its solved.

Just got my crv this week. Do u know what is the advantage and disadvantage of the eco mode? should I on always? I feel no difference only.
*
If you have the turbo, eco mode has less oomph during acceleration which is expected since it want to save you fuel. Not sure about the 2.0L cos i don't have it.

u mean eco on then higher or off then higher? sure off higher right cos that’s the purpose but wondering how big difference.
i bought during road show got 5k disc. by honda then sales give a bit extra.
*
i'm not sure if you have the turbo or not. If you have a lead foot, and scream off the lights, you'll be penalised by extra fuel usage. I guess it depends on how gentle you are on both eco and non eco.

So its up to you mate...

But with the turbo... cruising on the highway for me at 110 km/hr gets me about 16km/l with one person driving.

If you load up, it all adds up to work the engine harder. So you'll have to test out your ride to see what works best eh!

My android auto failed me once i went down to less than 1gb storage. Didn't sync. Blamed the app, but once i changed to a brand new phone it went away on the new phone. But i did not remove more files to try out on the old phone though.

Anyone own the 1.5 TCP 2WD 2017 unit? What problems have you encountered?
*
only the gear stick button disintegrating... but next service the centre say they have a free replacement... using different materials.

other than that there is an issue cropping up in the states i believe about cracks appearing on the windshield.. Anyone here changed their windshield?

hi.. do you know what kind of difference materials? does those manufactured in 2019 rectified with new gear knob material?
*
Probably a better plastic... the old one after breaking up, you could break if apart with your fingers.... this is the part inside the gear knob..

But no.. they said they'd change it... they did say its under warranty.. So I'll have to take their word for it..

I assume the one I changed is still part of the old stock so it warrants a change.

My 1.5TC 2WD .. change engine oil every 7500
*
Mine too, if you drive in the city. But if you stretch its legs on longer trips... i have noticed I get another 1k km more. Since then I then I try to go green by being more gentle on the throttle.

If turbo engine oil need change at 7500, n normal service every 10k, means you need to visit the service centre 2x instead of every 10k or you do the 10k service at 7500k?  Confused.
*
its not so bad... they have a service a and service b... but really its all notified on your driver display with sufficient time for you to get your honda service appontment.. just don't go over the mileage..
