Any tax and duties for a video camera?

I want to buy from china, the video camera is very small, no wifi and no bluetooth feature. the price tag less than RM500

Camera is tax free. As long there's no wireless connectivity, there will be no SIRIM approval. thumbup.gif

Hi guys,
I am the noobest noob in custom tax and I have 3 questions:

1) I dont understand the rm500 limit, if its rm500 and above we gonna get taxed. This rm500 limit is per item or the total amount of the stuffs that we imported?

2) Im planning to buy a LOT of leather handbags and wallets for gifts and the price definetely would exceeds rm500 for each item. Can I be exampted from the Duty import? Do I still need to pay the sales tax?

3) Im planning to buy a LOT of T-Shirts and Jersey made from cotton. If I were to take off the price tag and folded them and put them together with my own used t-shirt and didnt declare it, is it a good or bad idea to escape from any tax? I could say these t-shirts are my own shirts that I bought from Malaysia.
*
sumthimes even ur goods parcel value doesnt over rm500,u will be tax as well too if the custom saying ur item is taxable...
as i knew i saw a guy which just only 1 leather bag at custom, but he still kena tax....

depend on luck sumtimes

Yupp.
There's also other methods for the transportation [and delivery] of importing and bringing them into M'sia, regardless your quantity is for personal use, or large bulk commercial purpose.

Apart from re-directing routes from Labuan, Langkawi, Thailand, Indonesia, etc, etc,

You can also use the shipping [ and private Airfreight ] companies, for "Door-to-Door" services, which pre-covers your individual product category taxes (IF ANY), Kastam's handling, importation, paperworks, and doorstep delivery included - and at a fraction of the cost.

Feel free to PM if i may be of help, or link below:

Guys, if I were to buy clothes & cosmetics online from US, how much would tax be?

If RM500 below no tax, do they calculate it as items total RM500 or items + shipping total RM500?

Thanks thanks!

Edit: Woot! I just called kastam & they were really helpful in helping me out on how to avoid tax!

Clothes & Bags - only 10% sales tax. No more 20% duties!! Any amount of clothes apparently..
As long as the total is below RM500 (including shipping, insurance, etc), no tax is applicable!!
But even if I were to label them as gifts & the total is RM1000, I will still be taxed

Cosmetics - No tax!! rclxms.gif
But the health ministry says not to bring in more than 10 units of each item or else will kena tahan & will need to get permit from Health Ministry.
He also mentioned that the safest bet is to bring in 1 unit each (1 month's consumption). So if I were to buy 9 lipgloss, all in different shades, its still fine!

But don't count on all that info, make the call yourself just to be sure -

Kastam 03-7806 7200
Health Ministry - 03-7841 3200
Cosmetics dept - 03-7883 5400
Enforcement dept - 03-87872437

Good luck!

Guys, is diary/notebook consider as printed books? I'm planning to buy in bulk..trying to minimize the shipping cost. Most probably it will be more than RM500.

Should i seperate my orders if it's more than RM500? Since items that worth >RM500 will need to pay tax or declaration..

Can someone enlighten me here.. icon_question.gif

Hi people,

I am planning to do an online purchase for a 'designer bag' from US to be shipped to Malaysia.
The price that I'm paying is excluding tax/duty, as the seller mentioned it will be charged by the M'sia customs office upon arrival.

Can anyone advise what is the tax/duty for 'designer bag' delivered to M'sia upon arrival?
Hopefully the tax/duty is not more expensive than the bag itself ohmy.gif

Anyone has past experience?

thanks!

Hmm would like to ask if I appoint Pos Malaysia to do the declaration:
1. My items are skincare & cosmetics
2. The commercial invoice by seller is attached with the parcel. But really low value stated. Quantity stated also lower than the actual quantity I think. So can I tell the rest are freebiess?
3. How long pos Malaysia needs to take for declaration?
4. As I know cosmetics no tax. But need the approval from pharmacist. So in this case (not about taxes) Can i still appoint pos Malaysia agent? They will help to settle the pharmacist approval too?

(once I experienced, my skincare need pharmacist approval. So I brought one bottle to the pharmacy department, the pharmacist just chop and let go my parcel.

-------------------- EDITED-------------------- EDITED-------------------- EDITED--------------------

Their fax is having problem today, so i was asked to Email them both letter and Invoice.
pmk_cscustomaffairs@pos.com.my

But really not sure if they have received it... since no response...Anyone emailed to this address before? blink.gif blink.gif

They said, all in all i need to send them invoice first, then the customs agent will submit to the Customs for them to process.
As cosmetic needs approval from pharmacist. So they will send to pharmacy department to do the rest. (they said around 3 working days)
Once Pharmacist approved, parcel will be let go.
If *touchwood* blink.gif let say pharmacist don't approved it, then they need a note notification (which i don't know what is this..anyone knows?)

So now i have emailed them, waiting for their respond.

guys, don't know if this is the right thread for this. Ok, few days ago my cosmetic parcel arrived penang airport via courier service. A female courier staff called me and informed me that my parcel has been detained and I need to apply notification pharmacy. She gave me the pharmacy penang office number. I called and the staff ask me to call PJ office. Then I called and they ask me to apply thru bpfk.gov.my. The problem is the next day an indian courier staff call me and said he will help me to talk to the pharmacy ppl to clear my item. and also asked me if they need "money" around RM 200-300 would I give? I said try ask them first how much then let me know. But few hours later he called me and said settled already and parcel will reach me today and ask me to bank in money to him. I was shocked because he didnt even ask me first whether I am willing to pay that much - RM xxx.00! I told him i will bank in after receive my parcel. But after received my parcel, I have inspected all documents and the box. There is no single word stating my parcel had been detained by pharmacy. I have some experiences with detained cosmetic parcel before so I knew this is a scam by that indian guy. What do you think?

Hi there! To me, i think it is a scam. Because we never pay the agent fee through Bank-in. We only pay on the spot at the post office when you collect your parcel. (if you appointed Customs Agent.)
Customs Agent fees only costs us like RM49.80 or something definitely below RM50.
Unless you requested for special service (asked them to deliver your released parcel to your doorstep-extra RM50 needed).
Cosmetic has no tax needed. Just need approval from Pharmacy. So the RM200-300 i can say is actually nonsense.

If parcel got detained, we will first receive call from Poslaju KLIA. which has the number like: 03-8787xxxx or 03-8777xxxx.
You need to send them Invoice and the black and white letter which you received IF you agree to appoint a Customs agent.

Ahh...can't imagine this scam is happening! Thanks for sharing your experience here! So that everyone here may know about this!
Thanks!! ^^
