For bags how much is the tax & duties?

Is multitools consider prohibited items? I just google and found multitools is under Tariff No.: 82032000. So it can be import to Malaysia?

Added on May 31, 2011, 2:30 pmMod,

Please update TS post since the guide is not quite relevant anymore. Important things that i think are essential for buyer to know.. (i get this by googling and read some of member post)

Before you buy
1) Check if the item is prohibited. http://customs.gov.my/index.php/en/compone...ent/article/243
2) USUALLY below RM500 (including shipping and insurance) is not taxable
3) Try to get tariff code from the internet. One good website to search is http://tariff.e-to-china.com/
4) After you have the tariff check on the Royal Malaysian Customs for tax/duties impose at http://tariff.customs.gov.my/. Search by tariff code
5) ...... (add more)

If the item held by customs
1) You can assign an agent to pick up for you (eg Pos Malaysia)
2) You can go it by yourself and deal with the customs (i heard it will be a long process)

Or there are agents in Lowyat that provide service buying from overseas
1) http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1279719&hl=
2) http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1303309&hl=

Or you can use 3rd party service like http://www.vshub.com/

Some tips to our new buyer
1) Try to use shipment with tracking number to check if you items held by Malaysia customs
2) ....

Please update your successful bought items and tax(if any) for guidelines
1) ....
2) ....

I bought some stuff from Gmarket and it's over RM500 value.

At Poslaju said
03-Jun-2011 03:21 Arrived at inward OE/Receive item at OE

at the Gmarket tracking system said,
14:28 03-Jun-2011 Handed over to Customs MYKULA
Customs retention reason : High-value goods - Official customs declaration required

so, do I have to pick it up or something ?

Recently i just bought goods mainly apparel from UK. today i received email from DHL parcel pending tax clearance. I understood mine worth more than RM1k as per invoice and current exchange rate but what I dont understand is the exchange rate used by Customs as of 6/6/2011 for calculating sales tax is 1 Pound = RM6.4842. If they used rate like 1 Pound = RM5.1 or RM5.2, I still consider it acceptable.

Does any of you happen to face this kind of outdated exchange rate used by Customs?

Hi, need some opinion here.

I want to ship a body spray (which contains no gas, plastic spray bottle, the spray is just like water, no smell).
But the rule is we cannot ship liquid..... shocking.gif And i really wish to know if i have any other ways to ship this thing to my friend in Austria.
(the post office lady told me there's no other ways though).
HELP cry.gif

The spray/ pump? The bottle functions exactly like the bottle in this picture.

you can actually use the receipt from paypal for this. The custom will accept it also.

Hi, no tax for mobile phone BUT you will need the Import Permit (AP) for Customs clearance.
Tweet me @ multrade or bobmy for further advise!

Hi, yes... there is no tax or duty for importing ipad, iphone (mobile phone) into Malaysia (MY). BUT the requirement of Import Permit is mandatory to import those stuffs. But you need to apply for Sirim Type Approval (TA) for your product before you can import in bulk for your local sales. There are so many process. But, if you only import less than 3 units, we can get the special approval & permit to clear the customs.

We can discuss further! Tweet me @ 'bobmy' or 'multrade'.
