I think this is because they are by law they have to declare the goods they are sending (Usually companies/stores have to do this). Another thing is for the insurance claim. Correct me if I'm wrong biggrin.gif

Sorry, i dont quite understand what u mean in 1st sentence..
does 2nd sentence means if item is declared asgift, and if it gets lost /damaged, no insurance claim will be entertained?
thank you

actually all handbags n bags are subjected to 20%duties n 10% other taxes..
I think these taxes are absorb by the speer...
o/wise you have to hope that yours, being <rm500 n f0r own use, will escape taxes.

Hi, I want to buy this item from ebay. A vacuum insulated stainless steel water bottle. Do I need to pay tax for this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321008367886

I used the www.dutycalculator.com and it said that there's a 15% import duty rate & 10% VAT (classified under 'stainless steel flasks'). But I couldn't find the info in tariff.customs.gov.my....

Can anyone enlighten me on this matter? Thanks smile.gif

If you buy thru spreers, you dont need to worry about customs.
S far, Ive never been asked t pay custom duties or even be bothered with any custom issues.
Its better to buy this way-no hassle, no stress
