Hi. Wanna ask a quick question here. Earn less than 36k annual and already hold 2 card. wanted to cancel 1 card and take another bank Should I: 1)cancel first then apply new? 2)apply first, get approve than cancel the card? 3)inform the cs that I wanna apply but hold 2 card and will cancel after approve.

Hi guys! New credit card user here. Started using credit card since last month (Feb). So, I received my first credit card statement last month (Feb) totaling around RM300. I've paid the amount in full on early March. Today, I received March credit card statement and there is still the RM300 listed in the previous statement balance. Shouldn't it be 0 if I already paid it in full? Going through the March statement transactions, I noticed there is RM300 credited in the card around early March. So, probably I've paid the RM300 to the card instead? How should I go and correct this? A bit confused here. Thanks.

The previous statement balance will always be there regardless whether you have paid it or not. if you have paid, then the outstanding balance for this month will be deducted with the amount you have paid. if you have not paid, then the outstanding balance for this month will be total of previous statement balance + interest and this month's balance. I don't see any problem here.

QUOTE(Harfan @ Mar 26 2018, 11:04 AM) Yep I used maybank2u. And it is Maybank credit card. this is normal. Statement Balance amount doesnt change. it is FIXED. this is your billed amount. it will never change, right? do you see your previous mobile/broadband bill amount keep changing to 0 after payment? no right? Outstanding Balance amount will always change according to new spending or payment.

So your new outstanding balance is RM0, not RM300, assume no debit transactions after Feb statement was issued. There is no way can can amend the Feb statement balance. Penalty charges for credit card is 18p.a., but how is it charged? based on the outstanding balance as at payment due times the number of months?
Say, outstanding balance as at amount due is RM1k. Penalty is RM1k * 18% / 12month = RM15?

And you have outstanding balance unpaid for previous month, current month all the swipe wont be having the 20days credit period too, thus you current swipe will also imposed interest on daily basis.

QUOTE(watabakiu @ Mar 26 2018, 04:04 PM) The bold refers. Are you sure? Fees are charged for outstanding AND current charges? Yes if you did not clear previous month outstanding. You will not able to enjoy the 20 days credit period and thus the current balance also will imposed interest on daily basis start from date of swipe. Thats why everyone saying own a credit card and use wisely, make sure you make full payment every month statement. Else stop using it This post has been edited by SzeMeng76: Mar 26 2018, 04:07 PM

Fees are charged for outstanding AND current charges? iinm, finance charge applies to each transaction, counting from its transaction date. the longer you delay your previous month(s)' statement, each transaction will get a "reward"
