Guess for those who suffer from A2 Lite short battery life. But seek a replacement with the same form factor? I recommend the Minix Neo A3 then as it goes to sleep much faster. First click is to wake A3 up from sleep and pressing again sends the appropriate command. It automatically goes to sleep when idled for 10 seconds to save power. IMO, I still prefer the A2 Lite's method of pressing once.

Morning, I just got myself 4k TV and was disappointed with Tisen OS by Samsung on video playback and unable to view my shared folders from PC. It doesn't pass through DTS-HD or DD HD through HDMI ARC. Only can hear DTS. So I have no choice to look for 4k media player with DTS-HD, DTS-X, DTS Atmos etc pass through.

I am shortlisting Himedia Q10 Pro. Any of the media player <1K does a better job than Q10 Pro? Egreat A11 is great, can get me to the HD audio pass through with dual HDMI(one video and one audio) without the need to upgrade my receiver but it cost Rm2000!!

For viewing your shared files, you need to enable DLNA on the TV and also enable it on your PC.
No TV being sold right now is able to pass through DTS-HD & DD HD via ARC. You will need to wait for HDMI 2.1 for that capability and tvs with hdmi 2.1 will come in 2019 only.
The Himedia Q10 Pro is a good choice. For your RM1k budget you can also consider the Nvidia Shield.

I can only view 'Movies', 'Music' folders from C drive and not other shared drive. Will try to check again what's missing and why I can't view other than C drive. Nvidia Shield advantage is better graphic right? Hasn't studied thorough yet, will I get everything Q10 Pro have? I trust Nvidia will do a better job in sound and video, where's best place to get it cheapest?

Check on your PC side whether your folders are being shared or include them under your movies & music library.

There's the official Samsung Smart View to connect and enjoy multimedia content from mobile or PC to Samsung Smart TVs.. It's an easy install and setup.. Try it if you haven't.. Also, if not the Shield or Q10 Pro... Consider the Minix Neo U9-H too.. I can vouch for that.. Do a search on this thread for my previous posts on it and see YouTube vids too for real world performance..

As for where to get cheapest? That depends on where you are most comfortably risking your money.. The Nvidia Shield like most is not officially sold here. So prices up and down depending on seller.

Is the minix u1 with s905 capable of running 4k videos smoothly? Or do u need s912 instead?

use hardware decoding run 4k no problem.

Yup.. Can easily play 4K x264 or x265 files. Zero buffer from start till finish.

Just get it, I enjoy this box. Stable and unrooted, I can use it for AOTG too. It is a blessing for people like me who are away from home, thanks to my parents' Astro account.

Yeah, but for my sis. She came by my place these few wkends and played arnd with my X92 box. Interested and luckily this offer showed up. She wanna cut the astr0 already, and using unlimited hotspot plan.. so better get just a box and install a few apps. Done.

- what other channels that I can watch?

Just to answer the root portion.

Root is often not needed in order for installing commercial (legal) apps such as AstroGo. Because these apps see root as a breach of security.

However, sometimes people still want to have root to perform certain tweak. Eg if you want to install apps to blackhole advertisement, it will require root.

So a strategy is to have 'systemless root', which has the capability to selectively hide root from certain apps.

Hello guys.

Very new with this android tv box.

Moving to a new house, just brought 4K UHD Smart TV. I'm a 9-5 worker, thus not a heavy TV watcher. Not a gamer either.

Now considering buying an android tv box, so i can avoid subscribe to Astro. Will subscribe with Unifi later.

My options:

1) Xiaomi Mi Box 3S
2) Minix Neo U9-H
3) A5X Max+

I read the thread and comment's for several pro and cons. Considering to buy A5X Max+, but hard to find a review for it. Moreover, most review say that i need more than 10mbps of wifi for smooth viewing.

Any advise is appreciate.
