QUOTE(ruffell @ Mar 5 2018, 10:43 AM)
Dear All,

I want to ask your opinion and experience on CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic. There are two type, MYR and SGD hedged. The SGD hedged is superior in terms of return than MYR but what are the costs ie exchange rate charges from MYR to SGD during buying and charges from SGD back to MYR during selling?
Which one you think better MYR or SGD hedged in term of return - total costs?
Thanks

Avoid buying foreign denominated funds from FSM. Their exchange rate is very unattractive

Is is they are not managing it well? Did they even manage it?
Then it is a pretty sad story considering you are paying another set of fee in addition to the sales charge + management fee to the fund.

They do manage by doing switching quite frequent. However it doesn't help much. The market is very sensitive now. Any negative news, will cause dip from american to asia..

There are 2 types of returns - fund's return and investor's return.

Funds' performances are usually reported for the whole month or quarter or year; ie. Jan, Feb, etc.

An investor gets a slightly different performance from the fund's performance if he buys into the fund at various times, or he buys into the fund mid of the month... thus having his own statistic from mid-of-the-month to mid-of-the-month. Plus he might also includes the service/sales charges into the ROI.

I have no idea. My own DIY 100 EQ port isn't hurt that much as compared to managed port. This managed for own FI also doing shit. esp the EMB, drag from north pole to south pole. Still don't want let go.

But I need to let go now. Time is just not on my side. Damn.

ikr.

the fees + loss they made is worst than my own DIY port, mind that my own port is 100% EQ, surprisingly, the loss still far lower.

now market very sensitive.

If market doing good, UT generally +~ 1% at most, if following day good, +~0.5 perhaps.

If market doing bad, UT can easily frop 1.5%, and next day bad drop 1%.

Those who buy India will know this. I myself own up to 8%, just 2 months, -2 LOL. +8 you need 5 months approx.

UT is for long term, yes, but if so ngam market turbulence, waseh. GG.

So I learn lessen here, next time when I see the "top fund" on the right of FSM hit double digit, I will move all to CMF. No matter what.

If want rebal or major in, this is the correct time where all the top fund is at 1 -2 %.

I wouldn't not be surprise......cos it was named under EPF-Approved Funds promo
i think this maybe a shocking.gif to many....
it is also listed under list of most consistent performing EPF-approved funds on FSM platform.
it beat the EPF rate of 7% yardstick, 5 out of 5 years (from 8.8% ~ 21.5%)

the main reason theirs is underperformed is because of their high frequently for switching .. switch sell and switch buy lost many days and they die die holding rhb EMB. this fund dropped like crazy for the past few months. ... hahaha

just checked....for the last 3 months, their moderately aggressive port...it has 3.5% EMB
so it that fund dropped 10% nav ...then it just impacted 0.35% of the port ROI

The outlook of bond/bond funds are not good since early of 2017, EMB / High Yield bond even worse.
But, FSM HK & FSM MY still overweight EMB now (refer to FSM DPMS Portfolio Strategy table in FSM monthly commentary of MP).

Looking at conservative managed portfolio's latest factsheet, i noticed 6M ROI is -0.1%... ppl bought it must be very very disappointed now.

ROI of Aggressive Portfolio (90% EQ) is worse than my 75% EQ DIY portfolio. dry.gif
In the other words, MP 's risk is higher but with lower ROI.

I had invested Eastspring Global Leaders MY.
I received a letter mention about winding up because of Manager step down.

Is that mean the Fund will close?
