That's the problem with AMD which amd fags all refuse to admit. It's a heat generator.

The hot chipset is the reason why I opted for a B550. If you came from intel you need to get used to the constant high temps reading even on idle or standby. It's a norm... the air coming out from the back of my PC is always warm.
*
After using 5900x for 2 weeks, I can concluded that it is a very hot processor. So much hotter than 3700x. Averagely 48-50'c idle and 80 - 82'c during heavy gaming. 88-89 during benchmarking. I even remount my DH15 as I thought not enough pressure or paste.

So far no throttling yet but the high temp made me uncomfortable. But it is a very fast processor, give and take maybe?

Tested my 5900X with DDR4-3600 C16. No BSOD after 1 hour with FFT 80 with AVX2.

I was initially worried about the 5800x temps as well, seeing a few sources around the net claiming it's significantly hotter than a 5900x. So right now I'm not sure if if my case is the rule or the exception, mine runs decent. Cooled by an EK AIO 240mm. My idle is always below 40c and load temps while playing Cyberpunk 2077 is 72c. CB20 hits 81c.

Hmmm.. Seems that AIO compulsory for 5900x?

I would certainly put a decent 240/280/360mm AIO on a 5900x or 5950x.

I'm using Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 with lipstick paste (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme). Anything with 8 or more cores, its recommended to go for better cooling. Turbo will last longer, or you get higher clocks.

Should be good. Everywhere is posiitive. You have RTX 3080 dumping heat in your case as well. Yeah, that adds heat too.

@bolded

This right here is one of the reasons why the price has increased. If every seller scalps at a pre-determined price (let's take 3399 for the 5900x), then suddenly that price becomes the new "SRP". There is no law or control of the item which must be set a fixed price.

In other words, if everyone is scalping and you don't, then you're an idiot.

To answer your question, no RM3399 is not the new SRP for the 5900x. It's simply a price that has been agreed by all major retailers to scalp at.
*
Yeah, that's why I asked if that's the new "regular" price of the 5900x because of the pandemic. I just suspected they raised the prices here in malaysia.
So If it's just some high price decided among sellers, then I won't buy.
I assumed you guys are more aware of the current standing of the ryzen market. wink.gif

But I doubt it will be RM2,499 since 5800x are being sold at price higher than that.

RM2,698.00

Damn.

And no, not going intel. I'm inside the AMD Ryzen thread, cmon guys.

True on the GPU part but had to admit that 5900x is much hotter than 3700x. 105w vs 65w.

RM2499 is the new price for 5800x. If you need a processor fast, grab it else need to wait at least 3-4 months before all would stabilized.

Shortage makes the prices go up. There are some shops still selling at MSRP but you have to bundle, usually full rig.

Pretty good temperatures there. My 5800x with BeQuiet DarkPro 4 idle temperature is 46 C and after running COD Warzone MW is 71 C. Cinebench hits 90 C though. I was thinking to get AIO but in the end choose air cooler. Maybe next upgrade.

I bought 5800x for RM2099, that's bundle with mainboard and RAM last month at Lowyat. Slightly higher than MSRP for CPU. Now probably go higher.

Yeah but not 100%. Just 90% of the surface. Didnt do it right to the corner. Excess paste will spread it.

most certainly, infact i think 360 is barely enough (if wanna keep the cpu under 70C have to go custom WC route with 2x 360 rad), The irony on the statement about intel being a heat generator laugh.gif.

It might actually be cheaper going full custom instead of aio too with taobao byski and barrow stuffs.

I have also personally re-seated my cpu cooler so many times due to disbelieve on the temps too.. using up 2 tubes of mx4 ... so you can imagine how many times i did it..

I keep repeating until i got the lowest temp recorded with my setup lol..

Tristan's prime result shows temp below 70c at 125w under an hour.
