Your 3700X should work fine. Just be patient.
I wouldn't touch very hot and power hungry CPU. Unless you wanna spend money on the best cooler as well. That's why its 10700K.

You can get 10900k & Z490 aorus master for 3.5K It's a beautiful board at that. much better than x570 master.
(Repeat) It's not a hot cpu for normal gaming & paired with 3080/3090. U don't need catastrophic cooling. AIO 240/360 will do the job.

Plus side: you do not have to endure potential Bsod unlike with Ryzens 5xxx

i think there needs to be a clarification on tdp as many users seems to not understand and having misconceptions. power consumption does not equate to tdp.

intel may be drawing 250w on all core full load but the max tdp is only 125w where it will start to throttle at that temp. Likewise AMD are 105w.. the difference is the effeciency where the power consumption on amd is much lower thanks to 7nm, but the heat output is only 20w lower. So the answer to whether intel is Hot AF and can melt rooms... it’s a big NO. infact a 125W rated 120mm aio is quite sufficient to prevent a 10900k from throttling.

As for idle.. then it’s a diff game. Intel wins hands down here with a more mature speed step algorithm with probably 2-3C above ambient.

You could try and pick up these on Amazon - the prices there drop very low on occasion to make it worth grabbing even after shipping and tax. IIRC Black Friday prices went below $100 for the black non-RGB ones.

Intel is preparing to launch their latest generation Rocket Lake-S processors in the coming weeks. We recently saw some leaked Geekbench 5 scores for the eight-core Intel Core i7-11700K showing it beating the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in single-core performance. We have recently received some new benchmarks for the i9-11900K and i7-11700K this time in CPU-Z showing them once again best AMD in single-core performance.

The Cypress Cove core design found in these upcoming processors is expected to bring double-digit IPC gains over Skylake and this is reflected in these scores. Take all these benchmarks with a healthy dose of skepticism as we have no way of confirming these numbers until we can test the chips ourselves. The Intel Core i9-11900K gets a single thread score of 695.4 and a multi-thread score of 6522.1 which puts it 19% ahead of the i9-10900K and 3% ahead of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in single-threaded performance. The processor still falls far behind the Ryzen 9 5950X in multi-threaded performance due to it having half the number of cores.

Those are dual rank Hynix DJR kits. Very similar in performance numbers compared to Micron Rev. E.

Hey guys, not sure if its okay to post here but maybe I could get some hindsight.

I've been wanting to buy the ryzen 9 5900x , but of course sold out since launch.
As of today, I checked again and I am seeing in Lazada and Shopee that 5900x is becoming available again, BUT with much higher price.

5900x should be at RM2,499 but I'm seeing as high as RM4,000, from china. Lowest I've seen is around RM3,399.
Do you think 5900x CPUs are getting back on stock here in malaysia?
Are those regular prices, adjusted because of the pandemic?
Or are those still scalper prices?

There's no way I'll pay scalper price, but if the regular pricing here in malaysia is, for example, set to RM3399, then I guess it is acceptable to buy.

That's the problem with AMD which amd fags all refuse to admit. It's a heat generator.

The hot chipset is the reason why I opted for a B550. If you came from intel you need to get used to the constant high temps reading even on idle or standby. It's a norm... the air coming out from the back of my PC is always warm.

Tested my 5900X with DDR4-3600 C16. No BSOD after 1 hour with FFT 80 with AVX2.

I would certainly put a decent 240/280/360mm AIO on a 5900x or 5950x.

I'm using Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 with lipstick paste (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme). Anything with 8 or more cores, its recommended to go for better cooling. Turbo will last longer, or you get higher clocks.

Yeah, that's why I asked if that's the new "regular" price of the 5900x because of the pandemic. I just suspected they raised the prices here in malaysia.
So If it's just some high price decided among sellers, then I won't buy.
I assumed you guys are more aware of the current standing of the ryzen market.

But I doubt it will be RM2,499 since 5800x are being sold at price higher than that.

Try pumping your SOC to around 1100 to 1150 mV. Add CCD and IOD to around 1050 to 1150 to the mix if still not stable.

Oh? I thought I am the only one who encountered same issue.
My 5950x IF also can't boot at 1900mhz. Need to reset the bios.
However, it is able to run at 1866Mhz just fine. Which mean DDR4 running at 3733Mhz.
But I set my timing at CL18.

I tried your advise to pump more voltage to CCD, IOD and VSOC too. But even pumping these 3 with 1.15v, 1.15v and 1.20v respectively, still can't boot with IF 1900 nor 2000.

However, IF 1866 can run just fine without those voltage modification.

Perhaps irangan also fully use 4 DIMM similar to me?

When I uncoupled the IF with Mclk, I can run my 4 DIMM at 4200Mhz with 1.35V and no modification to CCD,IOD and VSOC voltage.

Need AGESA 1.1.9.0 for more "stable" fabric oc. Wait for new BIOS.

Yeah, I used Asus C7H before. Not even a hint of lag. Clearly Gigabyte issue.

sigh.. i dont know what to expect already, did what i can and still happens once in a bluemoon. Most users will probably just shrug it off, but it can be super annoying especially when Im in the middle of doing something when it crashes randomly... like drafting a letter and all the progress gone if forgot to save ughhhh. 

Welp it is a bitter sweet experience. No doubt the performance is damn good for the price when it first launched paired with a B450 despite having some minor issues. Now with intel's price slash and the expensive B550 mobo which i just upgraded into hoping the issues will go away.... i dont know what to feel anymore.

Can't do much about CSM delays.
