After seeing the current price of 5900x, I am thinking to jump to 5800x or just back to Intel. Frustrated with the current market. RM3800 for 5900x WTF. I think can get rocket lake plus z590 already

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 26 2020, 10:14 AM) Your 3700X should work fine. Just be patient. I wouldn't touch very hot and power hungry CPU. Unless you wanna spend money on the best cooler as well. That's why its 10700K. QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Dec 26 2020, 10:45 AM) My 3700x was purchased previously to serve a stop gap for 5900x. But cant find it anywhere at least at reasonable price. 3000 OK but 3800, want meh. SighQUOTE(targon @ Dec 26 2020, 10:49 AM) Been telling ppl on that. Some don't open their ears. Genuine question. My 3700x under Noctua DH-15, idle at 40-45'c. Whats your cometlake temp now? Want to know more as my last intel was 6700 series. You can get 10900k & Z490 aorus master for 3.5K It's a beautiful board at that. much better than x570 master. (Repeat) It's not a hot cpu for normal gaming & paired with 3080/3090. U don't need catastrophic cooling. AIO 240/360 will do the job. Plus side: you do not have to endure potential Bsod unlike with Ryzens 5xxx QUOTE(EBBattlefield @ Dec 26 2020, 10:59 AM) Take note on that if I somehow managed to find. |

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Dec 26 2020, 01:34 PM) i think there needs to be a clarification on tdp as many users seems to not understand and having misconceptions. power consumption does not equate to tdp. Read your post and other good feedback here. Will consider to jump back to Intel. Thanks!intel may be drawing 250w on all core full load but the max tdp is only 125w where it will start to throttle at that temp. Likewise AMD are 105w.. the difference is the effeciency where the power consumption on amd is much lower thanks to 7nm, but the heat output is only 20w lower. So the answer to whether intel is Hot AF and can melt rooms... it’s a big NO. infact a 125W rated 120mm aio is quite sufficient to prevent a 10900k from throttling. As for idle.. then it’s a diff game. Intel wins hands down here with a more mature speed step algorithm with probably 2-3C above ambient. |

QUOTE(yimingwuzere @ Jan 2 2021, 10:57 AM) nrw was selling a bunch of 2x16GB DDR4-3200 Crucial kits last month, all pre-tested to hit 3800 speeds with stability tests, so you're a bit late to the party You could try and pick up these on Amazon - the prices there drop very low on occasion to make it worth grabbing even after shipping and tax. IIRC Black Friday prices went below $100 for the black non-RGB ones. QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Jan 2 2021, 12:16 PM) irangan Thanks, both for the replies. Will contact them. Not aware that Malaysia have 3800 C14.just contact idealtech and order the latest binned bdie dual ranks should be the 3800c14 kits or those kits meant for z490 4kc17 you can order diff skews of heatspreaders which differ in pricing but i recommend go trident Z royals silver . they have better heat spreaders. |

QUOTE(fujkenasai @ Jan 2 2021, 01:38 PM) https://www.techpowerup.com/276625/intel-co...ark-score-leaks I saw another news that already breach 700++ in CPU-Z. Confirmed will retake back single thread crown from AMD but not sure a good buy or not when Alder Lake with new socket LGA1700 launching at Q4 2021.Intel is preparing to launch their latest generation Rocket Lake-S processors in the coming weeks. We recently saw some leaked Geekbench 5 scores for the eight-core Intel Core i7-11700K showing it beating the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in single-core performance. We have recently received some new benchmarks for the i9-11900K and i7-11700K this time in CPU-Z showing them once again best AMD in single-core performance. The Cypress Cove core design found in these upcoming processors is expected to bring double-digit IPC gains over Skylake and this is reflected in these scores. Take all these benchmarks with a healthy dose of skepticism as we have no way of confirming these numbers until we can test the chips ourselves. The Intel Core i9-11900K gets a single thread score of 695.4 and a multi-thread score of 6522.1 which puts it 19% ahead of the i9-10900K and 3% ahead of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in single-threaded performance. The processor still falls far behind the Ryzen 9 5950X in multi-threaded performance due to it having half the number of cores. |

QUOTE(nrw @ Jan 2 2021, 02:48 PM) irangan Thats a very nice price. I just looked at Shopee, RM618.If the 3800C14 B-die kits are too pricey for you ... you can get a kit of 32GB(16x2) Klevv Bolt XR. I got one for RM550 which I received yesterday. Right now cheapest price I found is 599@Lazada. Those are dual rank Hynix DJR kits. Very similar in performance numbers compared to Micron Rev. E. If you guys like I can share some OC experiences with it. Kindly share, sifu |

QUOTE(dyopgeop @ Jan 11 2021, 03:58 PM) Hey guys, not sure if its okay to post here but maybe I could get some hindsight. The MSRP didnt change, just that major shortage and retailers also follow the scalping game now. Maybe they saw those initial buyer resell at scalping pricing. I've been wanting to buy the ryzen 9 5900x , but of course sold out since launch. As of today, I checked again and I am seeing in Lazada and Shopee that 5900x is becoming available again, BUT with much higher price. 5900x should be at RM2,499 but I'm seeing as high as RM4,000, from china. Lowest I've seen is around RM3,399. Do you think 5900x CPUs are getting back on stock here in malaysia? Are those regular prices, adjusted because of the pandemic? Or are those still scalper prices? There's no way I'll pay scalper price, but if the regular pricing here in malaysia is, for example, set to RM3399, then I guess it is acceptable to buy. So there is no MSRP for AMD processor and GPU in 2021. You just pay whatever price that you felt reasonable or just go for lower model. Or just go for Intel. It is really competitive now. |

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Jan 10 2021, 09:13 PM) That's the problem with AMD which amd fags all refuse to admit. It's a heat generator. After using 5900x for 2 weeks, I can concluded that it is a very hot processor. So much hotter than 3700x. Averagely 48-50'c idle and 80 - 82'c during heavy gaming. 88-89 during benchmarking. I even remount my DH15 as I thought not enough pressure or paste. The hot chipset is the reason why I opted for a B550. If you came from intel you need to get used to the constant high temps reading even on idle or standby. It's a norm... the air coming out from the back of my PC is always warm. So far no throttling yet but the high temp made me uncomfortable. But it is a very fast processor, give and take maybe? |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Jan 11 2021, 05:15 PM) Should be good. Everywhere is posiitive. You have RTX 3080 dumping heat in your case as well. Yeah, that adds heat too. True on the GPU part but had to admit that 5900x is much hotter than 3700x. 105w vs 65w.QUOTE(dyopgeop @ Jan 11 2021, 05:25 PM) Yeah, that's why I asked if that's the new "regular" price of the 5900x because of the pandemic. I just suspected they raised the prices here in malaysia. RM2499 is the new price for 5800x. If you need a processor fast, grab it else need to wait at least 3-4 months before all would stabilized. So If it's just some high price decided among sellers, then I won't buy. I assumed you guys are more aware of the current standing of the ryzen market. But I doubt it will be RM2,499 since 5800x are being sold at price higher than that. RM2,698.00 https://www.lazada.com.my/products/amd-ryze...U6ZnHS&search=1 Damn. And no, not going intel. I'm inside the AMD Ryzen thread, cmon guys. |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Jan 16 2021, 06:54 PM) Oh? I thought I am the only one who encountered same issue. Same issue as yours then. Maybe my 5900x is lousy bin. haha. 2 ram stick only.My 5950x IF also can't boot at 1900mhz. Need to reset the bios. However, it is able to run at 1866Mhz just fine. Which mean DDR4 running at 3733Mhz. But I set my timing at CL18. Hynix MJR. [attachmentid=10758784] I tried your advise to pump more voltage to CCD, IOD and VSOC too. But even pumping these 3 with 1.15v, 1.15v and 1.20v respectively, still can't boot with IF 1900 nor 2000. However, IF 1866 can run just fine without those voltage modification. Perhaps irangan also fully use 4 DIMM similar to me? When I uncoupled the IF with Mclk, I can run my 4 DIMM at 4200Mhz with 1.35V and no modification to CCD,IOD and VSOC voltage. QUOTE(Bonchi @ Jan 17 2021, 05:18 PM) sigh.. i dont know what to expect already, did what i can and still happens once in a bluemoon. Most users will probably just shrug it off, but it can be super annoying especially when Im in the middle of doing something when it crashes randomly... like drafting a letter and all the progress gone if forgot to save ughhhh. Like Chinese saying, wash wet the head liau. Need to continue with Ryzen till DDR5 become mainstream or Alder Lake prove it worthsWelp it is a bitter sweet experience. No doubt the performance is damn good for the price when it first launched paired with a B450 despite having some minor issues. Now with intel's price slash and the expensive B550 mobo which i just upgraded into hoping the issues will go away.... i dont know what to feel anymore. Bonchi liked this post
