After I opened basic SA with Bank Islam, the officer asked me to register internet banking and also their GO by Bank Islam app. I also received SMS twice to activate online banking and app. I have already registered the online banking. But for GO app, I didn't install it because I see the reviews is very bad. Did you use the GO app?

I do have the Bank Islam Go mobile app. Hardly use as I prefer to use desktop to access the bank website for performing online transactions.
However, I will need the GO app for the GO secure feature to approve transactions, maintenance such as change limits etc.

Most bank now no longer use SMS OTP, need mobile device linked to the account for transaction signing such as approval for fund transfer etc.

Alright. In that case, I think I won't need it because Bank Islam is purely for me to place FD. Won't have transaction in and out. Thank you!

Hi, I did opened a basic saving account with debit card. Then only registered online banking. I am not sure whether the debit card is compulsory or not to register online banking.

BTW anyone has experience with Bank Islam Sri Petaling? How snail-paced are they? tongue.gif

Yes, very slow. Wanted to go there last week to renew my FD and coincidently someone
from BI HQ called me and assisted me to renew the FD off-site (I didn't need to go to the SP
branch). I believe they are trying to promote their soon to be launched Premier services.

So, I do think they are trying to improve their services.

Al Awfar is the saving account? Hmm...I don't know what SA I have also. As long as the FD is under PiDM is fine.

BI OTC FD can terminate online if needed. Which is convenient in case of need.

Their paid profit/interest shown in the FD cert., for next years maturity, it did show additional days (to working day say Monday) additional interest. Also they use 365 instead of 366 for next year. Another plus point for them.

Saw quite some Chinese in BI, looks like words are out that they have the best rate for now !

terminate online mean can credit to saving acc without need to go to branch and transfer out from BI directly via online?

Sg FD rates are down further across all banks. Wonder if this will affect the local FD rate? 🙈

Based on what some forumer here said, it is not compulsory. But in order to have internet banking, must open SA I guess. Plus, if you have SA, only you can Rentas/ transfer fund from another bank account. Unless you are using cheque, then I think can open FD without opening SA.
