Hush! This is how we bank shareholders make dividend
*
This is why...instead of sakit kepala pusing-pusing trying to make a few extra peanuts. Just buy bank stocks when price is attractive to earn dividends. Seriously, why crack your brains earn peanuts when you can let the smart people earn bananas for you?

Thank you mod!

That fella so annoying!

Btw, not sure if this is appropriate for discussion here. Does anyone puts FD in Singapore or elsewhere? Planning to park some money is SGD for hedging purposes.

Look at the tenure for that 2% pa FD rate in SG

*
CIMB SG has 2.3% FD now. I think those are board rates you mentioned. Same like here, always go for promo rates. Anyway. It is for hedging purpose. Split my portfolio, dump some money there for safekeeping in case things go the Sri Langkan way here.

Singapore got 2.3% , Malaysia affin got 3.20%

If put FD in Singapore $200,000 around $640k ringgit by 2.3% , mean can get around  Singapore $4600 per year around Malaysia ringgit is $14,750

But if i put $640k ringgit in Affin Bank in Malaysia by 3.20% , i can get $20,480 ringgit  per year ..
*
If after 12 mths...SGD 1=RM4? That is why we call it "hedging".

Does anybody have this issue. I found out RHB FD is like cheating customers. If your maturity date is today, you can't withdraw until tomorrow or you will lose all your interest. When tomorrow you withdraw, it will say you lost 1 day of interests! vmad.gif I don't have these kind of issues with other banks so far.

It's done online. This is not the first time, previously also like that. Or is because different instruments? FD vs Term Deposit? Or maybe Conventional vs Islamic? hmm.gif

I withdrew my RHB efd on maturity yesterday. I encountered problems at their new web site. I switch back to their old web site n withdrew it successfully. My first attempt on their new web site failed because my mobile did not received their OTP.
*
Oh, i think i have been using the new website for some time. I remember old website got this "Uplift" function, i don't see it now. I think one issue now, the approval period of 30 seconds is too short. Sometimes mobile notifications takes a while, usually i barely made it with a few seconds left.

QUOTE(gaffer9678 @ Jul 28 2022, 08:59 AM)
To withdraw or transact amount > 10K, required secureplus. However, their own website secureplus functionality linkage to their mobile is not working. Been a while, at least close to a year. To transfer or withdraw FD amount > 10K, I use their mobile app.

Btw, I just realised from someone post (a few post earlier), there is a different website from RHB

The first one is what I have been using, but could not get the secureplus to send to mobile app previously. So I always use their mobile app to transact. I have not try to do this recently or the 2nd website link. The 2nd website look very similar to their mobile app.

QUOTE(woowoo1 @ Jul 28 2022, 11:15 AM)
Yes, RHB secureplus is useless and yet I complaint so many times to them and they just don't acnowledge there is a problem.lousy RHB app. Anything above rm10k I have to split the transaction to avoid secureplus
*
Yes, the secureplus thingy doesn't work, never works previously. Only recently the new website has been updated and their mobile app updated to make it finally works.

Never eFD, all done OTC.

Wonder how you all manage all your eFD securely given the cybersecurity risk etc?
*
It would be impossible for me to do OTC with so many bank accounts and split FDs. You can't run away from the future. Just be internet savvy and do your due dilligence. Etc, install a good paid internet security on your phone, don't download any apps other than critical and major apps like Google Apps, Waze, Whatsapp only. Use a SafePay browser when accessing bank account on PC. Don't download unnessary apps. Don't click anything anyone send to you. Have a separate phone if you want to play mobile games and browse porn sites... laugh.gif

There's case of internal fraud by some Financial Manager recently, FDs also can go missing even if it's not eFD. Nothing is 100% safe.

Yes RHB FD maturity can only withdraw one day after the maturity date. And always loose that days interest. The bank staff knows about it, but it seems nobody doing anything about it. Also the RHB Secure Plus for transferring money out of the bank is a joke. Can never get it to work, unless previously already set up favorite to your transfer list.
*
Glad i am not the only one seeing this! Really Horrible Bank! But the secureplus thing is now finally working using the new website.

24th July 2023 is a Monday. Normal for bank to forward maturity date to a business day. Interest will be calculated for the additional 2 days for this 12 month FD. This reason for this practice is due to complain by customer is that they cannot withdraw their FD maturing on a non business date, eg Saturday or Sunday.
*
Yes, BBMB (Muamalat) even weirder. Can't make aN e-FD placement over the weekend! Even their computer system demands to work 5 days week. laugh.gif

General question out of curiosity - say you have a reasonable sum to place in FD, e.g., 100k, do you place one FD for 100k or multiple FDs, e.g., 50-50, 25-25-25-25 or even 10 x 10s? Just want to survey. I would probably do 4x25s, but there are times I wish I did 10x10s due to emergencies.
*
I would usually split to 20k, because that is the lowest daily limit transfer of some banks. This will will allows you to transfer out to another bank on maturity date without problems usually. You can do smaller to 10k if you treat this as emergency funds as well.

September should have 0.25 OPR increase. But I think we are still very slow to catch up to US. I wonder if we will 3.25 to 3.5 by mid next year? hmm.gif

Previously I applied for their normal saving account, annual fee RM8 (last time GST was RM8.48  doh.gif )
Then gov asked for all ATM card must come with debit card feature.
Asked & confirmed with CIMB regardless which account type you holding, as long as you get their debit card will get rm15 annual fee.
So I requested for account closure before get charged.
Something quite confused from their website mentioned there is free 8 ATM cash withdrawal, but now there is no basic ATM card (all cards come as debit card annual fee Rm15)

i believe mine is type one. No fees. And there is an ATM card, if no ATM card you can't withdraw money nor register online. So that basically says ATM card is provided. But likely you can't use it as a Debit card, which i don't care anyway.

Maybe because i opened this account back in 2020 i think. Maybe rules different now.
