guys, I went buka one joint FD today and got the shock when the bank told me that even though the account is "either one to sign", both person must be present in order to withdraw that FD.

Doesnt makes sense to me at all. The bank says its a new BNM ruling. Anyone heard of this news?
*
What about those who already have joint accounts?

just called up, no lock-in period for the RM1000. A bit surprised cos normally HLB likes to lock for 4 months biggrin.gif
*
Ya confirm, went to counter, no lock in period for the RM1000. Max per account is RM200,000. Joint accounts are
considered another account.

hi . since you had done it, may i ask . just top up 1k and MUST transfer funds from other bank?
what if the money already in the HLB bank account itself?
will they consider?
*
the RM1000 must be new funds (not already in bank account).

you may need to confirm how long need to maintain the RM1000

No need to maintain, u can transfer 10k from other bank to HLB acc, then use the 10k to place FD OTC for 7 months 4.3%
*
He is talking about the requirement of depositing RM1k in the savings account to be eligible for 4.3% FD promotion

Today first time encountered HLB did not deposit the monthly FD interest to my savings account in my 2 years banking with them.

Anyone encountered this before? Posting here before I check with them

some dont credit interest into principal but this more likely for promo only.

wth??!! keep us posted bro.

Regarding the HLB monthly interest, apparently since last mth, they have changed the T&C.

I renewed on July 11th, and interest payments will only be done at the end of 6 mths or 12 mths,
so no more monthly interest.

Confirmed this at the branch today in Sri Petaling (for my certs anyway) even though I never
changed anything when i renewed.

Auto renew FD will not extend the promo benefits into the new term. Once your FD completed the promo tenure and auto renewed, interest rate will be revert to board rate and interest payment frequency will also revert to standard policy which is every 6 months for long tenure placement.
*
Not auto renewed. Went to branch on maturity day (11th July), top up and renewed for another 6 mths.
This is the 4th time I did this. Previous 3 times all had monthly interest. This time no more.

I asked them to check my other cert (27th July), also no more monthly interest.

My other certs (before July 2017), all still have monthly interest.

Mach is different from HL. Doubt you can renew HL FD in Mach branches as Mach branches do not have HL bank data base.
Please let us know if you are able to do that .
*
Tks for letting me know, I'll call them up tmrow.

For those of you who signed up for the HLB fixed deposits last year, at one time we needed to deposit cash into the savings account at the same time to qualify for the special interest rates.

Any of you remember how long are we supposed to hold the cash here?
