I wonder if Bank Islam need bank book to do FD?

After I opened basic SA with Bank Islam, the officer asked me to register internet banking and also their GO by Bank Islam app. I also received SMS twice to activate online banking and app. I have already registered the online banking. But for GO app, I didn't install it because I see the reviews is very bad. Did you use the GO app?

I do have the Bank Islam Go mobile app. Hardly use as I prefer to use desktop to access the bank website for performing online transactions.
However, I will need the GO app for the GO secure feature to approve transactions, maintenance such as change limits etc.

Most bank now no longer use SMS OTP, need mobile device linked to the account for transaction signing such as approval for fund transfer etc.

Hi, I did opened a basic saving account with debit card. Then only registered online banking. I am not sure whether the debit card is compulsory or not to register online banking.

Was told i need the debit card in order to have internet banking.

Yes, very slow. Wanted to go there last week to renew my FD and coincidently someone
from BI HQ called me and assisted me to renew the FD off-site (I didn't need to go to the SP
branch). I believe they are trying to promote their soon to be launched Premier services.

So, I do think they are trying to improve their services.

The branch I went asked me to open a Al-Awfar, which is not protected by PIDM.

I think that is their MO, to offer that. Insist on opening BSA.

Yup. I just informed the staff that I want to open a basic saving account just for FD purpose. Straight away helped me process already.

Al Awfar is the saving account? Hmm...I don't know what SA I have also. As long as the FD is under PiDM is fine.

Yes. Can terminate FD online to SA. Then if <50k, can just xfer out without need to go to branch. Or do 2 times in 2 days if <100k.

Then online banking is very useful d.. I need to go n get online banking as earlier the staff told me must go to the branch to uplift FD

Nope, no charges. I told the staff I want the most basic one, without charges.

actually is it even COMPULSORY to open a savings acc for this promo? Sien, need to keep track of another account.

Sg FD rates are down further across all banks. Wonder if this will affect the local FD rate? 🙈
