I did asked the bank staff and asked her many times. She said this is only one time fee and it is not charged by yearly. She said bank Islam has 3 types saving account. This basic type is the only saving account that will charge one time fee for ATM and the rest will charge yearly. To me, one time charged is ok.

All must provide, you should threaten AmBank, you will be surprised they will give you a zero fees account before you know it all of a sudden.

I got basic CIMB SA with free debit card required for internet banking, but they disable withdrawal function so practically no use.

Their marketing people probably came from super market sector....

I only use for internet banking, no need to use for ATM.

Just sharing. Bank Islam certificate do state the amount of interest you will earn.

Also for those free atm non charging basic accounts, yes all banks need to provide one. But so far some banks refuse to let me apply for the promo FD, AMBank being one of them. But they waive the first year, I guess I will just pay for the next year until I can terminate the FD.

For RHB and Public Bank, despite me getting non fee basic account they still charge me annual fee of rm8. Public bank eventually waived it off and RHB supposed to waive but no news. I will have to check next year if they charge me again this annual fee. Oh Bank Islam one is also chargeable... but they waive off the first year too.

So it is true, a lot of staff either don't know or bank instructed them to open fee based.

Not Ambank but with other banks.

Foreign banks are exempt, local banks are not.

my am bank last few month i open with debit card, the satff say non fee.
cimb just last month open with debit card, also being informed non fee.
but pb with debit card, charge me fee.

public bank how to ask for waived? need call them?

There are two kind of Public Bank Basic Saving Account. The one without charge on ATM only can withdraw up to 4 times per month. The one with charge is unlimited. Do you inform the bank when you open the account clearly? Else they just put you the one with charge.
