Did some further analysis on the Week Of The Month (first day of the month as Week 1) of the past release dates and the results are as follows:
Week 1: 6.8% (3)
Week 2: 22.7% (10)
Week 3: 18.2% (8)
Week 4: 34.1% (15)
Week 5: 18.2% (8)

So I guess past data is pointing towards 9 Aug 2022 more than 2 Aug 2022 (if any of these are correct). With that said, this is based on probability from past data.
*
9 feels right to me.... but what a long wait! hahaha it's worse when we know the date is coming

let's hope TnG get scared and follow Suica Japan's example. i noticed a lot of parking spaces already accept CC/DC alongside TnG. if the highways and RapidKL start accepting them too (which I heard they're planning to do), then TnG can bungkus already lmao

Then it's correct then, AP runs on the same way that SP does, just local cards is still not supporting AP, the microcode update has to be already pushed to all local terminals cause if not, how would foreigners/singaporeans use AP while AP is not available locally at all.
*
clarification:

the problem with AP in Malaysia is purely because currently there is no connection between bank and Apple servers to support when a user tries to add card to AP, unlike with SP. once a card is added to AP, to the merchant it appears the same as if it’s an AP user or SP user or contactless

terminals that already support contactless don’t require a code update for users to use AP. it can support AP the same way it supports contactless cards. it can support high value purchases already, just that user still needs to enter PIN after tapping if purchase is above RM 250

the code update the forumer is talking about is just to allow contactless payments above RM 250 without requiring PIN at all if the user is using AP - basically AP is telling the merchant/bank no need to ask for PIN because user is already verified through Touch/Face ID

nope.
bring the frequent use CC (1). No need bring debit card/atm
*
no, I feel like the opposite is better right? CC should live in Apple Pay so can leave that at home, but bring debit card to withdraw from ATM in case of emergency...

has anyone tried to add their cards to Apple Pay yet?
*
still cannot. have to wait until the json file in Apple server is updated with Malaysia’s entry. then the section in Settings will change from just Wallet to Wallet & Apple Pay

most likely need to wait bank to update their app. We need to add card into apple wallet from MAE
Refer to
https://www.maybank2u.com.my/iwov-resources...ple-pay-faq.pdf

no point wait 1am. go to sleep and hopefully morning can do
*
from the looks of it that’s just one of the ways. There is a section that says you can add from the wallet app also

Those coffee bean or starbucks card .. will they be able to add into Apple Pay?
*
cannot. the app developer need to support it in their app. anyways, they’ve always been able to add support for it if they wanted even without apple pay. that’s why boost juice and decathlon could do it.

in the meantime, you can download the Pass2U app to convert a screenshot of the Rewards card in the Starbucks app into an Apple Wallet pass. then just bring it up in Wallet app manually every time you want to use it (it won’t auto show up unless you manually input the location, unlike with US Starbucks card)

My Apple ID is Malaysia.
While my Region is set to UK.
Adding to iPhone was successful but not for Apple Watch.
Tried adding multiple times but unsuccessful.
*
Can. But since it’s not live yet, I think there’s a one-card per bank limit. The card on Watch and iPhone are actually two different virtual cards (device account number) that point to the same physical card number. So you have to add it in Watch app straight away without using the Settings app to add it on iPhone first. If you have, remove it from your phone and from list of previous cards first. Then try adding it in Watch app.

would it increase the acceptance rate of Amex? AFAIK Amex a lot places cannot use AMEX, if add to Apply Pay then can use?
*
nope. whatever card you add to Wallet for Apple Pay is just a virtual version of your physical card

so if that place tak accept AmEx, then still cannot use there.

those who managed to add Maybank Mastercard CC to your iPhone but not your AW, here's what i did.

Go to wallet app in your AW, then manually key in your card details again.
Then once done you'll be asked to verify your CC on the Watch app on your iPhone.
Verify with the sms code, then done.

was using SG region via settings.

Worked for Maybank Grab CC and Maybank Gold Mastercard CC
*
now works the other way around too. was able to add it on my iPhone. now both watch and phone have it. seems like the one-card limit has been lifted

my Maybank cards (except for AmEx) all worked and was added successfully to all my devices

BigPay Visa didn’t work (although didn’t expect it to anyway)

HSBC Amanah Advance Debit Visa also didn’t work (this one surprised me since I thought HSBC is launch partner)

adding a cherry Maybank debit card should work, i was able to add my Maybank Platinum Visa Debit last night to both my iPhone and Watch.
Attached ImageAttached Image

they offered three ways to verify - SMS OTP code, or call Maybank at 1300 number, or call Maybank at 03 number. if y'all are having trouble:
1. make sure online purchases is turned on for that card
2. add it as if it's new card instead of selecting from previous cards list
3. try a few times. for me, on Watch it passed first time. but on phone, it failed to add the first time. after trying to add the second time, it worked

regarding the Google Sheet, I think it'll be more user friendly if we just have a list of banks and cards. If someone wants to let people know it worked for them, can just add in a comment column

I will try to make it on a list after a week as there are too many cards in Malaysia that need to test out..
Technically yes, but you may also wait for the Apple Pay logo appeal then only use your Apple Pay.

Everyone, I have prepared a form here: https://forms.gle/7jxHoTDqEsq1VYFZ7

It should link to that file but in new sheet. Everyone can fill it in easier now biggrin.gif

Wait for more support of banks first. Now limited to only 3 banks.
Most MBB Visa/MC can. only AmEx and Islamic and Corp cards cannot.

Islamic personal CC can. the limitation is for corporate CC (includes Islamic corporate CC).
