why still no bank integrating google pay and Apple Pay to do payment, public transport, banking system in Malaysia? It will be a big hit if they do so. They can gain so much market share for free just by doing this. Don't they want to earn money? Malaysia banks are so weird.

Real data and facts don't show it. Some banks went and spent money with huge launches for Samsung Pay and provide the ability for payment, etc..etc.. and the results were extremely bleak.
By pushing it through, unless they get the volume, it might end in loss making for them. iOS users tend to be a small % of their customer base.

Having been in the industry for 7 years and working with the business heads, various MDs, CTOs, CIOs and all, its not about laziness. Studies were done, reviews were done and not just internally but with the team from Apple and Google. The numbers just don't work currently especially for Apple Pay (cost outlay to time to ROI). Focus is still on meeting financial obligations to shareholders. At the end of the day, the decision is strategic, whether to put the effort and money into this project vs another project which has a faster ROI and higher benefits.

At the end of the day, its very simple. If we can't even get V2 (125 pages of threads?) of this thread here in LYN, see how much "demand" there is for a technology like this.

I believed the reason why people in this thread think it's a huge market for Apple Pay it's because we are IOS user. It's echo chamber effect. I used Samsung phone before, and I have friends using Samsung Pay when they launched, include myself. But now most of them changed to e-wallet solution eg: grabpay or tng.

Imagine that how many Samsung user in the market compare to Apple, I just don't think it will be a success project to capture local market although I would like to use Apple Pay.

They can integrate both google pay and apple pay like any other country. It is 100% market share of Malaysia

Another requirement is a step forward from another question. Judging by their tone, hopefully it’s reaching the final stages before public release.

If you can driftmeister, what requirement or any other hinderance is still there to overcome?

some requirement in their risk management policy to conduct and comply

Looks like going to Q2 2022 then.

And then Q3. Then Q4. Then Q1 2023.
The cycle repeats.

I love your enthusiasm for the 100% market share.

But for any bank right now, especially the larger ones, one of their more recent headaches are with users on Huawei phones.

So yeah, 100%, sure.

How?
*
Step 1: Take a screenshot of your MySejahtera vaccination page (the one with the 3 QR codes)
Step 2: Email that screenshot to a PC/Mac and display the screenshot on the camera
Step 3: Take your iPhone (must be updated to the latest iOS) and open the camera app and scan each QR code
Step 4: When scanning the QR code, you will get a prompt to add that to your Apple Health (repeat X times based on the number of vaccination jabs you got)

To check, go to your Health App and search under Immunisations.

You can't get it into Wallet yet until its certified (still trying to figure that out).

That’s a standard reply from MBB lol. U can find other replies from MBB regards to Apple Pay. Mind you that that account is managed by Customer Service and not some high ranking ppl inside MBB. Customer Service also may be sub out to another company. Whatever info they have, they are being told to answer ABC only. They cannot sway too far off from the template answer given.

If you go ask BNM, they will more or less reply you the same thing only. Heck, even other banks or BigPay or whatever.

And what makes you think CS will have info about AP when our fellow insiders here have probably signed NDA to not even speak anything about it to the public? This is probably like a trade secret you know, except this is a service secret, in the competition to see which bank can quietly make it happen first in MY and be ahead of other banks to bring in more revenue. The only time CS will have any slight info would probably be after MBB website updates to say “coming soon” or similar.

*edit add on
Oh yeah, that sentence “we have yet to receive any official communication regarding Apple Pay service” is actually meant “We as Customer Service, have yet to receive any updated info from our higher level/mgmt to reply you in regards to your query on this Apple Pay service. At best, we were told to reply you this only”.
