Sony Ericsson introduce new lifestyle of imaging communication with first Cyber-shot™ phones - K800 and K790 camera phones

Sony Ericsson takes digital imaging in camera phones to new heights today with the launch of the K800 and K790 phones, the first handsets to carry the Cyber-shot™ brand, a true mark of imaging quality. Both are highly capable mobile phones with integrated 3.2 Megapixel digital cameras with Autofocus, Xenon flash and BestPic™ - Sony Ericsson’s unique imaging technology that allows you to capture exactly the moment you desire. K800 and K790 combine advanced image capture capabilities with high speed data transfer, making them perfect tools for shooting and sharing high quality pictures and videos. K800 is a dual-mode UMTS/GPRS phone and the K790 is a Tri Band EDGE phone. Both are available from Q2 2006.

The handsets have a classic Sony Ericsson design, with a large screen and responsive, tactile keypad with a sleek and stylish dual front phone design. Turn the phones horizontally and there you have a digital still camera. Simply slide the active lens cover downwards and a user interface similar to that of a Cyber-shot™ camera automatically appears.

A completely new feature developed by Sony Ericsson is BestPic™, which ensures that you never ‘miss’ an important picture. Press the shutter button once and get 9 full quality 3.2 megapixel pictures to choose from in a time sequence – 4 pictures before and 4 pictures after the actual image you captured. All 9 pictures are displayed as icons on the display. Simply scroll backwards and forwards through the 9 images and save the ones you like best.

The K800 and K790 offer full support for a complete digital imaging lifestyle. Printing is possible without the need for a PC thanks to PictBridge™, a feature that transfers pictures directly to a printer by using a USB cable. Storing and managing image files on your PC are made easy with the supplied Adobe software, and the phones are among the first to feature fully integrated Picture Blogging Blogging is growing exponentially as a way of sharing personal experiences with words and images, and Picture Blogging in K800 and K790 allows users to create and update personal blogs directly from the phone in just a few clicks.

Business users will find the K800 and K790 valuable work tools while out of the office and the sleek Velvet Black casing fits neatly with the professional image. Full HTML browsing with RSS feeds and Google Search give you high-speed, graphic-rich Internet use. Support for standard push email and a connectivity suite comprising Bluetooth(R) 2.0, USB 2.0 and Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) means that keeping in touch is effortless. yeah, ex-mmu. bought this phone since october ler. can see from the vip list ma.

the last time i went there to update, it took them only about 30 minutes.

service centres are also printed on the warranty card.

the side lor.. i didnt take a pic of it.. will show it to u guys if i can meet him again.. the brown colour dunno how he use until can see silver base colour already.. i think he scratch it or sumthing.. if whole colour come off really become Casino Royale edition lor...

Aww...dang v5 already...I wanted to find out bout the reliable AP providers for this phone.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The AP set is currently going for RM1200++ rite? while the original set's RM1799

The benefits of getting an original is better after-sales service(repairs, warranty claims, software updates) rite? And the original warranty lasts for only 1 year

But it's also possible to get the above with an AP set as well rite?

So can any1 of u experienced folks suggest/recommend places at which I actually purchase the AP sets and still receive adequate after-sales service?

We bought it from Clareen, Alienfighter COD-ed with her while for my case, Clareen sent it to me by GD Express. She's very reliable and helpful, I've bought two handphones from her so far, K618i and K800i. Reliable seller.

don't worry about updating yourself.....nothing wrong will happen, unless you never pay your tnb bills, and all the sudden they decide to cut off your power while you are.....

Anyone know where I can get a copy of this "SYSTEM FOLDER", as mine other then java/games everything were in order.

After trying both type of reset I am still stuck.
The rest I think you have read what my reply is. BTW do you have a back up copy or anyone kind enought hand me a copy of "System Folder" , so hopefully I can restore back my games/Java folder.

i just got a silicon case from kl sentral today for RM8.
got sick of the clips on the crystal case always breaking after 1-2 months.
only prob with the silicon case is the design at the back, like that fugly crystal case design where the flash got smoky reflection.

i've just updated my allure brown k800i ...

very very very happy with the update !!!! ahahahah ... it solves the phonebook single character search problem !!! Now, i can search multi character already ! yahooooooooOOOOOOO !!

another thing i noticed is that on R1ED001, on the main screen it will show a bell and time of your alarm if u set it on. Now, somehow that is gone ...

so far so good for me with the new firmware ! yeeehaaa !

T-Mobile is a telco, something like maxis here ...

is that your existing firmware ? if yes, then it seems that you are on a Branded firmware which i doubt u can update through SEUS.

change the view mode to List instead of Thumbnails.

thats why i'm not bothered to upgrade the firmware unless there is further improvement on the camera/music player.
whatever other 'bugs' there are now i can live with as it doesnt affect anything.

so conclusion.. which firmware version is the best for current moment?

newer version always better. about this R1GB, just the thumbnails lagging (only happen when you have lots video clip files)

Or, just disable the thumbnail in video folder will do. Picture/Camera folders use thumbnail no problem

I think currently R1ED001 is the most stable firmware. Yeah, i agree with Everdying. Dont fix if it aint broken.

Just one quick question, is there ANY way to force flash to turn on? It doesn't turn it on sometimes when i really need it, like trying to take a person's picture against some sunlight. Before you start to flame me for this I just want to say that I HAD to do it because of a very nice scenery.

Hi guys, my friend's k800i having a problem where one of the function seems like can't be turn off. But I'm not sure what was that, between the icon was like a "blue UFO" any idea what was that? Also anyone having the same problem? By the way what was the status bar for k800i know as(refer to pic)?? because I tried to search online for all the available icon for K800i so that i could know what was the "blue UFO" means. Anyway, my friend was using a AP unit with R1CF001 firmware i think .

thats the availability of 3G.Blue UFO means got , no Blue UFO means dont have.
u can turn it off by going to settings > Connectivity > Mobile Network > GSM/3G Network and set the desired settings.

* i call that the status bar too....

i managed to update just now using SEUS to R1GB. i wonder why it doesn't work the first time. anyway, just when i began to like the "search by initials" function, they removed it in this firmware! i guess it's a matter of preference though.

anyway.... im sure in the guide book have all the listing icon,
why bother to search via the internet?....

what minde guide is what u need to do...
just off the 3g setting, and used gsm only.. and the icon go away...

Yeah, the PV705 bluetooth battery is really lasting, miles better than my old bluetooth headset I bought years back at RM390 , the talktime is less than an hour and standby time not more than 2 days.

Yeah Alienfighter, I'm having problems with K800i, tried to update the phone's firmware via SEUS but it keeps on saying your phone has the latest software but it seems like you guys can update to the latest firmware. I believe my 3G / GPRS settings are correct, had tried making a video call the other day and downloaded some guys. What could the problem be? Mine is also a Midland set like yours, should I bring it to the service centre to check?

but i personally feel that k800i is a bit oversized and too squarish... thats why i didnt go with it... But the functions i must say is much better... mayb wait the next cybershot phone...

i update mine with the usb cable...
the internet connection for the update seem to be ok...
but i think, why bother to new firmware that make ur phone lag??..
just stay with R1ED... and i wish that i can back to that firmware...

coz pretty like the picture quality of the K800i ma... also i think the joystick is much easier to navigate compared to the navigational pad of W810i...

you are the first person i know who says he wants a k800 because of it's joystick. out of so many people, all of them try to avoid joysticks, saying they tend to spoil after normal wear and tear

but seriuosly... Im a k750i user previuosly and changed to W810i... The old k750 does have some issue with its joystick after long term use. But its a far better way of navigation compared to this darn navigation pad...! I first tough mayb if i use w810i I wont have the joystick prob... But i really prefer a joystick after using it now

its pretty awesome really the bluetooth . The sound quality is near perfect to the Wired Headset. Really Loud too . and looks nice.
