QUOTE(MrAkA @ Jul 24 2016, 09:03 PM) Tried Highline and Comfortline. It's subjective regarding engine power, for 1.6MPI it takes 6-7 sec to reach 100km/h with almost full throttle, hardly test for further speed due to route. nonono not 6-7 secs.... not saying that its slow but its nowhere near that fast. Even the 1.2tsi would be slower than that haha..... i remember it (the mpi) being something like 10-11 secs or more..... (remember time with a stopwatch, mental counters always lie) The difference between Comfort and Trend is just number of airbags and some interior design. For 1.2 TSI, no doubt about the pick up speed and some safety features. Yeah, either you take free installment until next year with down payment or cash rebate up to 10k. Depends on your SA. |

QUOTE(MrAkA @ Jul 24 2016, 03:17 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Unless they've vastly improved things since a few years back the TSI engines and DSG gearboxes are quite temperamental. If you've tried the 1.2 first the only to the 1.6 then of course anyone would be biased towards the 1.2 because when working that twincharger makes you feel like you're driving a Ferrari. However, that is the issue. Unless there have been improvements you might get frustrated as many VW owners have been regarding either one failing, the problem was exacerbated by VAG impotence, avoiding game or trying to pin the blame on owners. The new Golf MK7 with a 1.2 and 1.4 TSI engine and DSG gearbox so far so good but would you really want to be a lab rat? |

QUOTE(zenix @ Jul 25 2016, 03:04 PM) Okay. Please tag me for this, I'd like to know more about DSG, DCT's, or other gearbox for that matter.Don't bother to fix up the car when giving it to the used car dealer. No matter what they'd offer you a terrible price for it anyway. Maybe you can also consider the Civic Hybrid, it is around the same price but much bigger and comfortable. I'd pick the 6AT from Aisan than risk it with the DSG anytime. I might write about the DCT gearbox soon to explain more about the industry and why they're still supporting it. Well....here is the thing. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Thanks for the heads up, really value your input. I'm quite aware to their DSG gearbox issues, where I'm driving a time bomb if I bought it. Anyhow, I tried the 1.6 first then only to 1.2. Totally get your messages. Hahaha I wish I have a budget to try Golf MK7. Jokes aside, since my budget have stretched to 80k plus. Any other recommendation? Went to Madza to view the Madza 2, too bad have to make appointment to test drive. |

QUOTE(dark90 @ Jul 25 2016, 02:28 PM) That's great man, Thanks! i'm really impressed with your knowledge regarding cars.. do you work in the automotive businesses? bang walls long enough you will know as much too.Or do you just test drive cars as a hobby? i'm really curious man.. i guess it all started out with a lemon proton wira. was useful as an education into cars when i was younger. but terrible as something you need as a reliable workhorse when you have a job. that and much reading and blow water if i work in the auto biz i won't be able to freely share. i think you've notice our local publications are all "good news only" reviews. STUFF TO STICKY at the first page
Here is the reality of DCT (dual clutch transmissions) in TLDR fashion. Dry DCT = russian roulette but "maintenance free" Wet DCT = bullet proof but is not cheap to maintain. DCT like any other gearbox was designed initially for oil change. For example the Mitsubishi SST on the Evo 10 needs about 5.6L of DCT oil, which is about USD154 per can of 4L (sos for cost estimation) , that isn't cheap and would only be okay for sports cars. However, as manufacturers wanted to put DCT into their smaller/cheaper cars (e.g. VW Polo/VW Golf) they had to figure a way to lower the cost of maintenance thus Dry DCT was born. Dry DCT isn't actually dry, it is just a sealed system with oil that doesn't require change and doesn't require to pass an oil filter. IINM it was designed to last the product lifetime, which is about 10 years (i could be wrong though). So it was designed and tested in Europe and America, however it wasn't tested on tropical climates, thus heat from the engine and tarmac just made everything worst. dark90 |

QUOTE(eric84cool @ Jul 25 2016, 10:54 PM) Cars are still about 3 years old at most... Not old enough to be considered proven if you ask meI know the MK6 with the DQ200 was a problamatic box.... I think the MK7 uses the same box? (Don't quote me on this, not100% sure) If I had that kind of money to spend on a car, I would probably avoid this (again, that's just me) |

And here is the quote from the owner below; "I have done the oil change at the dealership, it was a quick 1 hour job. The car still feels the same, the gears still swap sweetly and rapidly. Good. I asked the service manager about the post May 2013 built cars and he said yes, they are likely to be already filled with the mineral oil. This recall is a global thing issued by Volkswagen AG, hence it is not only limited to tropical climates. Hopefully the UK dealers have already started looking into it. 19 Litres of mineral oil G052512S0 was used." QUOTE(ilnerodiablo @ Jul 26 2016, 03:58 AM) like that ahh? hahaha... very very wtf. yeah, if your car is in good condition i'm sure in their minds they're thinking "sucker".thanks for the heads up. thinking of keeping aside the money to fix up car, but guess i wont be bothered. ill go n trade in the car anyway. much appreciated unless you plan to sell directly to friends/family, don't really bother to fix up cosmetic issues. however, if got major issues like the car cannot start or aircon not working you better fix it. used car dealers won't care what ICE, rims, bodykit, and mods done. |
