hmmm i think its best if you filter it a little more.... many cars will still fit your listed criteria. icon_idea.gif provide more info, do you like a large car? smaller car? tall car, hatch, sedan, suv? or maybe mention what are your needs e.g. aesthetics, reliability, low running costs, performance, space, safety

note that, good resales value means that you as the buyer is also paying alot more for the car... imo this is only a good thing to have if you buy the car new (or want to own the car short term)

*
Thx dude

Prefer sedan , secondly on suv.

Normal usage for daily transport to work. Doesn't need to be very good performances and space good to fit in 4 adults. Priority reliable as I intend to use it for at least 5 years with affordable maintenance cost

2011 Nissan Latio Sedan 1.6 - you should consider the Nissan Latio over City/Vios because those are high RV cars so you've to pay more for younger cars or to keep it within budget you've to settle for older ones, this particular advert is for a 2011 car (5 years on is still quite okay). In terms of technology it is quite basic like the Vios the engine and gearbox are standard types with nothing fancy to go wrong so it is easier and cheaper to maintain. It should be slightly cheaper to maintain than City because regular gear oil is cheaper than CVT oil. As for space the Latio is a C-segment (or jumbo B-segment if you will) so it gives you more space than Vios/City driving around will be more comfortable for you and passengers.

2013 Nissan X-Gear 1.6 - although it is not a sedan I thought I show you this as it is a very underappreciated car from Nissan thus even for a quite new car it depreciate like a rock but it is actually a pretty good car. It uses the same engine and gearbox as Latio/Livina. Space wise it is bigger than Latio, it is a full size C-segment crossover/wagon. I think for your budget this is a good deal seeing that it is younger too. Tall roof line for tall people or people with long legs/torso.

Quite surprising that X-gear depreciated so much....but however the car design is not my liking. Too bad, Nissan design is quite bold actually.....

when trying to keep maintanance low... try not exactly the best idea to go for those conti's

you have inspiras (basically mitsulah) but maintanance isnt the cheapest around
you have the sylphy (even uglier than the xross x)
you have the city, the common everyday seen car...
vios need not be mentioned, everyone knows it

if u dare touch conti's
theres the lovely 308 turbo, nce to look at nice to drive but.... i myself x berani nak beli. turbo go, tranny go... money fly fly fly
theres the fiesta, which can cost abit to maintain. tranny issue jugak
theres the polo which if goes wrong will make you want to shoot yourself.
(heck if any of these 3 goes wrong you would shoot yourself)

hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif quite headache when selecting used car...

btw, my current ride is Honda IDSI yr2003 and mileage clock in approaching to 250k . No major accident, no major repairs...just recently this year spent quite a fortune to fix the front absorber, radiator, aircon compressor. Quite moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gifmoneyflies.gif...

Not sure whether to remain the current ride or change to affordable car within 50k budget. I expecting another 30k value lost in the next 5 years if I change to new ride. dilemma doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Back to used car selection, how about mazda 2/3 (previous generation) ??

Kimchi car, I don't think I will go for it as parent had bad experience with the car repair & poor resales value.

I know that feel... Cooling coil, labour etc etc.

haha... But if I were you, I won't opt for used car. Might as well maintained the current ride. Because you wil never know the history of the car....

Emm.... hmm.gif hmm.gif valid point also.

If like that, I got to spend around 2k to beautify the car ....the top layer of paint starting to peel off.

any suggestion of cheap paint workshop in Klang Valley?

searched peugeot 3008 throughout the topic but couldn't find one.....the 2nd hand values for this unit (yr 2012~2014) is really match to my budget.

One thing is unsure of Peugeot's reliability, maintenance costs and on top of that, how much is premium coverage for the windscreen & panaroof ..I believe it costs lot.

Hi all, rarely visit this subforum but would like some opinion on this.

Am looking to replace my 2003 Waja with something that has better fuel consumption, but at the same time not sacrificing cabin space. I spend anywhere between RM200-RM250 a month on petrol as I travel in town quite a bit for meetings, and would like to take that figure down lol.

Was offered a 2013 Civic Hybrid with 31k mileage for ~70k, and wondering if it's better value compared to the City E series? Heard some contrasting comments about maintenance for the civic hybrid: some say it should be cheap since they use same civic parts, but that a lot of mechanics don't want to service it cos of the complex electronics.

Am seriously considering the hybrid since it ticks the important criteria (low FC and large space), but am a bit worried about maintenance. It's also considerably cheaper than a new city. Hoping you guys can shed some light on this, thank you! smile.gif

if the civic hybrid offered to u is CBU, then it's very worthy but u need to consider the boot space. are u okay with the boot space as the battery occupying 30% of spaces.

Sifu lsm1991 zenix Dilemma on choosing either one, my current ride is honda City IDSI 2003 (13 yrs) and plans to change one soon.

Got few options.

(1) Madza 6, 2.0 (yr2012) - 65k to 68k
(2) Madza 3, 2.0 (yr2012) - 60k to 65k
(3) Honda Civic, 1.8 S (yr2012) - 65k to 70k
(4) Honda City, 1.5E (yr2012) - 53k to 57k
(5) Honda Jazz, 1.5E (New) - 70k to 72k

Dislike Toyota although admit it has a good RV but the design is too awful for me.

Cost a bomb to maintain and the car age is definitely more than 8/9 years old.

I would suggest to bring it to a Service Center and get it checked, it only cost about RM 80 or so

hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Then assuming is re-con car like Vellfire, Alphard etc.....I can seek the dealer to bring it to Toyota centre to get it inspected?

Hi guys, looking to buy valued family car for 4pax. 2 adults, 2 babies (with car seat)

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : around RM130k to RM160k
3. New/Used/Unreg. Either New, Used or Recon : New, Used or Recon also can.
4. Specs. : No requirement
5. Transmission. : Auto
6. NA or FI ? : No requirement, reasonable fuel consumption
7. Type. (Sedan, 2 Seater, Convertible, and etc) : Preferable SUV or MPV
8. Remarks : I'm stuck between 5 seaters & 7 seaters.

If I opts for 5 seaters and place 2 car seats behind, meaning can't accommodate adult at the back of car.
For 7 seaters , quite limited choice in car selection given the budget.
