Only M1 prepaid can. The rest definitely need to pay data roaming charges!

Easy for you to say and judge other people..

Some families both parents have to be working just to survive. Not everyone is a high flying corporate banker who bring no tangible benefit to society whatsoever..

Those technicians and hawker family will need to send their children away at some point.

Can what. I stayed home to take care my baby for 1 year. Only need bout 1k for food and house expenditures. The other half sure can bring home 1k right. You sure most of 2 working parents family is because need or want? Want better lifestyle, so sacrifice the time with the kids. Hawkers earn alot btw if you think their earning is little.

Well at times you have to put other people's situation into consideration .

Some have other commitments loans, aging parents, younger siblings , family member with medical condition etc... the other partner is require is not the extra 1k but extra 3k and above.

It isnt so much about how much money they make, but their time.

Do you know how hard it is to run a hawker stall? Wake up at 5am go back at 6pm or later.. usually it is a couple working together or even the grandmom and grandfather also working there.

So, how? Who gonna jaga the kids?

Maybe you are privilege and lived a sheltered life to not notice such things. But your statement that dont blame the kid for sending their parent to old folks home is not a fair statement and there is are cases where both parents have to work for their livelihoods.

sure after 1 year, you can now go back to work
the kid does not go child care but instead stay at home looking after themself.
their childhood only revolves around the first year after they are born.
probably these parents, their kids will send them to the old folks home, then predict about 1 year before they pass, move them out and look after them.

Bring to work lo. I grew up spending my childhood at construction sites starting age of 3-4. When young whole family 5 ppl stay in one rented small room. Weekend go coffee shop 3 kids share one plate of chicken rice. Parents not eating because can't afford. Dad primary grad work as bangala on site. Mum uni grad but stay home teach kids. Mum can go to work for better lifestyle, but chose not to as to my parents the bringing up of the children themselves is more important.

The same value kids experienced will built into the kids. If brought up in the nursery where parents busy working to sustain the family, then the same will mostly be repeated for their kids. Not saying they not good not taking care the kids or parents themselves. This is life right, you want something you need to sacrifice another thing.

I was browsing through all your replies in this thread. Can only say that your life experience is so interesting. Perhaps you should consider writing a novel based on your own story. Probably going to be hot seller rclxms.gif

if so, then why are u on sabbatical for only 1 year?
u should just resign and stay at home looking after your kid or your husband should
since bringing up the kid is that important, there should be only 1 breadwinner
and from what i read, your husband and you each easily earn more than a lot of couples combined.
like u said, your mum did not work because she valued bringing up the kids as more important
or did the value your mum planted into you got skewed off somewhere that it only applies to others but not u?

parents do a lot of things...some maybe too much
but most of the time, in their own way, they do it because they think this is the best for their kids.
sending kids to child care because it makes economical sense does not equate to not spending time with the kids when they are growing up.
you might influence as much as you can on how you want the kid tp grow up to become by instilling those good values
however, what they grow up to become does not solely depend on how you raise them.
being there every single moment does not mean the kid will become a replica of you.

Hi Kelv, thanks for replying. I am waiting for the approval for EP to start looking for a room. I heard a lot of EP got rejected recently due to new policy by the Sg Government.
