There were reports by other users on the newer update drains battery.

And your Google keyboard is draining a lot

im using B170.. so far so good.. even i gt gaming n movie standby 24hour nt a problem..

i noticed B180 drains more juice while idling.

i tried with google keyboard also drain like mad, end up uninstall.

not sure i haven't upgraded, i wanna see how long to get the ota, even though i already download the update file manually.

Yes, i think for most of the ppl no prob on google keyboard, maybe he just need to clear the app data, or reinstall it.

For those who has problem with the badge app icon (your whatsapp not showing unread message number), please check this.

On Home menu, find a page that has no icons, long press the screen, Select More Settings, then Badge app icons, then enable the app you want that feature. Does it help?

I use google keyboard due to not familiar with mate 8 keyboard. Google keyboard almost similar with my previous samsung s4 keyboard. On early day using google keyboard..it consume almost 4gb of data last week. No idea why

Battery is awesome. I cant finish it.

Best sot so far 7 hrs 13 mins @ 18% batt
Note 5 was 4 hrs 55 mins @ 5% batt

But both have their advantages and weakness. Loving the m8 so far. Selling off the n5

How about the size?really different?still can handle with 1 hand like n5?

If you wish one handed use try S7e. Mate8 is definitely too big
Anyway I could never understand why users need one handed use? Isn't there a big risk of phone dropping off?

I got a free tempered glass and tear the ori SP off straight away by the salesperson, that guy did even mention to me that it is a SP. Sakit hati loh .....

That tempered glass not really tight-fit to the screen also, looks a little bit cheap

Someone posted in v1, the nillkin one covers properly and looks good. Nvm la. Just use sampai scratch or crack then only change.

I tengah frus using the flip casing.. Ordered a case online on sunday buy until today, tracking number shows no transaction give the seller 1 more day..

Unlike some of you I only love flip casing on all my phones
However I don't like the supplied unit as it doesn't allow phone to stand up nicely at any angle
I bought 2 alternatives from ebay

How much did you pay for the flip case?

I got a free flip case also, it is a Nillkin case that looks like the original Huawei gold color one. Too bulky so not plan to use it. Too bad that you bought one otherwise I can offer you

Mine came with the phone. I have to use it because my phone is naked.

Ordered a nillkin nature tpu from a fellow forummer on sunday. Until today the tracking number seems bogus, or poslaju really efficient.

As a newcomer in using China phone, just after 1 day i think it's not bad. Lots of actually useful built in apps as well.


I'm using tempered also. The curved side is pretty cool though. Makes the bezel even slimmer. But eh i trust gorilla glass and never used any protector for my previous phones. Not a scratch.

My stock flip cover got some weird lines. Not sure why. It also really adds to the bulk. But will probably use til hancur haha...

since u guys are talking bout cases, here are my thoughts bout the cases for mate 8. i have both the spigen cases, rugged and crystal clear, and the official huawei back case.

pros and cons of each:

the rugged spigen case protects the phone well and is matte, tho it really doesn't match with mocha brown color. my personal favorite, as i love matte surfaces.

the crystal clear shows of your phone natural colors, but its back is prone to smudge if your hands get sweaty alot, like mine. both rugged and crystal add some bulk tho.

the official huawei back case offers little protect but doesn't add much bulk, however it matches the phone perfectly since it is by huawei. go for this if you want a hard back case.

my flip case in still in the mate 8 box, only used for few mins to try the flip unlock function, the plastic not yet peeled.

Did anyone having battery drain issue after update to b170 version? Need to know everyone experience here b4 i update it.

I am on version b103 now, the battery is quite good when i test it on aeroplane mode for few days. When i insert my sim card, the battery start to drain very fast & i only run on 3G connection.

Anyone facing the same issue?

depends what apps u have at your phone 1st…1st day i use this phone, i straight update to b170, then now use b180…battery usage is ok for me…

Latest is B180. Some users complained b180 drained the battery more. For me I don't see any difference at all
If you don't like just flash back b170. Both b170, b180 is a vast improvement over b103 and is a MUST upgrade especially it solves all those buggy notification issues

Is an unfair comparison between them. One is a budget phone while the other is a high end phone

Yeah indeed both in different category, budget vs high end. But there are many similarities for both phones.
Mate 8 will win hands up, no argument bout that. But for daily driver, user experience might close some gap between both phones?

Both got 4k mah battery, fingerprint reader, 16mp/f2.0 rear cam. Just wondering if there's anyone got both phones can give some insight.

No argument about Mate 8 win over RN3.

What is your current firmware? When I first switched it on I was prompted to update to b170
B180 you had to download it ( check back n search for download link here) n flash it manually. I had described many times in this thread how to flash it

Mate 8 performance floor P8max naturally . P8max had such an old chipset. I use the p8max not as a phablet but more of a minitablet only
