How about the size?really different?still can handle with 1 hand like n5?
*
If you wish one handed use try S7e. Mate8 is definitely too big
Anyway I could never understand why users need one handed use? Isn't there a big risk of phone dropping off?
I always use both hands even on smaller phones

1. Yesterday bought Mate 8 for my son. The saleperson  said no need to put the screen protector. It's already on the screen. Do you guy use the screen protector supply by Huawei?
2. If I buy Mate 8 from Gemfive, is it the Original set/Malaysia version?
*
The phone comes with SP already applied on
Just use it till it wears out. I find its quality is quite good though I hate putting such stuffs on the phone

Unlike some of you I only love flip casing on all my phones
However I don't like the supplied unit as it doesn't allow phone to stand up nicely at any angle
I bought 2 alternatives from ebay

Plenty of such at eBay, Lazada, Aliexpress - just do a search yourself to find the ones that appeal to you. I buy most of my accessories from ebay

Did anyone having battery drain issue after update to b170 version? Need to know everyone experience here b4 i update it.

I am on version b103 now, the battery is quite good when i test it on aeroplane mode for few days. When i insert my sim card, the battery start to drain very fast & i only run on 3G connection.

Anyone facing the same issue?
*
Latest is B180. Some users complained b180 drained the battery more. For me I don't see any difference at all
If you don't like just flash back b170. Both b170, b180 is a vast improvement over b103 and is a MUST upgrade especially it solves all those buggy notification issues

Anyone can give good review Mate 8 (3gb ram 32gb storage) vs Redmi Note 3 (3gb ram 32gb storage)?
*
Is an unfair comparison between them. One is a budget phone while the other is a high end phone

Specs :

You can check youtube too for comparison between them

How to get the b180 update. I keep checking at updater and it shows latest software.

Just got mate 8 today after sold my v10
*
What is your current firmware? When I first switched it on I was prompted to update to b170
B180 you had to download it ( check back n search for download link here) n flash it manually. I had described many times in this thread how to flash it

Mate 8 performance floor P8max naturally . P8max had such an old chipset. I use the p8max not as a phablet but more of a minitablet only
Battery life about similar

Samsung fast charger n fast wireless charger are designed to match only the Samsung phones
I had tested it on my other phones too
Even the fast wireless charger is snail charging vs my other dirt cheap rm30+ qi slow wireless charger on my LG V10. Using the cheap qi charger on S6e n S7e was hopelessly slow while the Samsung fast wireless charging was very fast
So used Samsung supplied chargers on Samsung phones only. Infact since Note5 Samsung had issued official note that its fast charger is meant for the Note5 n S6 series only

How about those 3rd party charger such from Aukey? Any experience on that Uncle?
*
I only use either my Aukey or Lyvsun (3A output) to charge all my Androids n iPad mini n iPhone 6s+
I am not concern about how fast charging is unlike some users
I normally only charge my phones when I go to bed. So how long it takes doesn't bother me
For the Mate8 it takes about 2.5+ hours from 5% ( tested only once). I had not even used the supplied charger
Got too many phones w me n to keep it simple I used those 2 chargers only for all my phones

I only surfing, whatsapp, Facebook and video less than 1 hour.
With wifi & 3g smart switch. 40% of time is screen off.
I suspect my battery having issue . Or 4G can save more battery?
*
Check your wakelocks first. Google if you don't understand what this is
Weak 3g will drain battery

so for real users of mate 8 here...thinking of either getting this or s7 Edge.. i know the camera of the s7 is great and reviews of the camera of the mate 8 has not been good....one site even mentions HDR makes no difference in this phone...

While I have a DSLR - I don't always carry it around...so looking for a worthy camera phone after i sold off my IP6 + smile.gif
*
Best camera phone based on my usage : S7e, LG V10, Nexus 6P
Mate 8 is quite good enough for me. Don't rely too much on those reviews as most of them based on development n not actual updated firmware

Can't see any physical damage. Huawei online support ask me to go service centre and have a check.
*
HW will usually swap a brand new one for you under warranty. No repair will be done
However they will only repair if is your fault n warranty is voided

Absolutely no more notification issues since b170 m now on b180 firmware
I don't understand why some users still report such problems. User need to dig deep into settings /notification to customize what sort of notification they need and set the app as protected too
I use only stock messaging, whatsapp, maildroid, tweet caster pro where I needed notification. Other app I disabled any notification

Struggling to decide which phone to get. Mate 8 or P9+ or HTC 10. But i think HTC 10 is out of my thought already. Price is RM 3299 in malaysia... Way out of my budget...

Is Mate 8 a good phone? i heard some complaints about the phone camera and also the speaker of te phone is no good. Is this true?
*
Camera is good enough for me...it is however not in the class of S7e or LG V10. Most of camera reviews on Web was based on early development builds n inaccurately report those camera issues. If you are a camera geek than S7e n V10 is a better choice. It's camera equally good as Note5, Nexus 6p
Speaker problem - no such issues
Why don't you go and test it yourself to assess better
