I'd been looking for a guide online to set up the UniFi HyppTV Set Top Box EC6106V5 to connect wirelessly without spending extra money to buy a pair of HomePlugs as HyppTV STB EC6106V5 has already got WiFi built in to the box, you only need to go to the settings to enable it to connect to your WiFi network. Unfortunately, there isn't much helpful information I could get from the internet, so I decided to go through all the settings in the router myself to find out if there is any possibilities to do so, and finally I found that IT'S ALL POSSIBLE!!! So now I can have my router in one room, and HyppTV STB and TV in another without having to buy any extra hardware as long as it's within the WiFi coverage range.

After the successful attempt, I feel like I should share this to others, so you all can save some money and place your TV set wherever you want.

I will skip the steps to enabling and connecting to WiFi network in the Set Top Box as it's already available on the internet for quite some time. So I'll go straight to the point, and below is the step by step set up guide. biggrin.gif

Edit (14/10/2017): I'm getting forum messages from time to time where people ask for details regarding the setup, so I think it's better for me to just update the post with a bit more details in case people couldn't find the specific information needed.

Edit (14/10/2017): I've since upgraded the Set Top Box to EC6108V8 and a different TM router model after the first post, but most settings remained the same as before. Note: I haven't got a chance to play with the newer TM D-Link DIR-850L router, so I'm not sure if some of the settings are actually available in this router.

Edit (14/10/2017): To enable WiFi connection in the HyppTV Set Top Box, go to the settings page through the cog icon at the screen when you first power on your HyppTV STB, then go to Wireless and Network section, tick the box on the right of Enable WLAN and wait for the STB to turn on the WiFi feature, once the WiFi is on, go to Set WLAN to choose and connect to the WiFi network SSID you're going to create from the guide below.

1. Log in to your UniFi router, username and password is readily available online.

Edit (14/10/2017): You need to login with master ID and password as standard admin ID will NOT show you all the settings needed for this configuration. Master ID and password is model specific, you can easily find it on google.

2. Go to Wireless tab and then SSID Configuration, enable second SSID in the list by clicking the Edit button.

user posted image

3. In the VAP configuration page, tick the Enabled VAP box to enable second SSID, and you can enter your own SSID name in the SSID box. Under Wireless Security, you need to select WPA-PSK as authentication, as WPA2-PSK won't work in streaming the IPTV signal. Under Enabled WPA, select TKIP as the Key Type, AES will work too, but I find TKIP having a smoother streaming result. Don't forget to enter your own Preshared Key too. biggrin.gif

Edit (30/11/2015): I've tried to use the so-called 'mixed mode' WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK Authentication with TKIP + AES Key Type without any streaming issue so far. With these settings, it should give better security to your WiFi network.

Edit (04/12/2015): WPA2-PSK Authentication is actually WORKING for streaming IPTV signal, I've so far tried both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK with all Key Types combinations available in the router's settings, some combinations have better streaming results than the others, so you might try out yourself to find the best one for your network conditions. Still not sure why it didn't work the first time when I set up the SSID2. unsure.gif

user posted image

4. Click Submit button at the bottom of the page to save settings.

5. Now go to Setup tab and then WAN Configuration, edit the connection with VLAN ID 600. It's the notepad icon with a pen on it, NOT the icon looks like a recycle bin. biggrin.gif

user posted image

6. In WAN Connection settings, under Port Binding, tick the box SSID2 for WLAN Port.

user posted image

6. Click Apply button to save settings, and Viola! you can now stream your HyppTV content wirelessly when connecting to this new SSID!

Please note that this is only for streaming HyppTV contents, browsing internet with the browser won't work in this configuration. The new STB EC6108V8 should work with the similar settings, but not tested myself. Hope you guys enjoy it. smile.gif

It might work if your router have all of these settings available, I don't have other router to try myself. As you can see from the settings, it's bridging the IPTV signal from TM, you get an IP address in the range of 10.X.X.X when connected to the new SSID. The other feature needed is port binding to route all IPTV signal to a specific port, which is SSID2 in this case.

Okay, lets say I got a DD-WRT'ed router but with only one ethernet port.
Can I still port binding VLAN 600 without assign to any LAN port first?
(Assumed that The only port available used for VLAN 500).

In my router, I was able to remove LAN4 port binding when I get the option to select SSID2. Hope that help.

Hello, unifi newbie here.. I just got unifi set up yesterday in the living room. If i would like to watch hypptv in another room on a another TV (same channel), what device do I need? And how to set up?

Another question is my Motorola DECT phone, when I turn off the switch to stop charging, the phone cannot make/receive calls anymore. How do I stop charging but still be able to use the phone?

The TM router can be replaced with another UniFi compatible router, no problem. Got many to choose from, Mikrotik, DLink, TPLink, Linksys, Cisco, Asus or any router that supports VLAN.

Add-on also can but no point. Waste electricity only.

You can buy a pair of power plug to use the electrical wiring of your house to form a network to link up the router and the STB. TP-Link is cheaper, and Aztech has been in the market for many years.

You need the base station to pair with the phone and continue working in order to send/receive call. Don't worry, it consume very little electricity. The phone will stop charging by itself when it is fully charged.

You can get a TPLink WDR3600 at the price of around RM170 that supports dual band and better Wifi.

What is the user name/ password to access that setting? TM only provide username as 'admin' and password blank.

Of course. But you still need to sign up hypptv package. And download hypptv everywhere. And you will watch the programmes in hypptv everywhere app.

Sorry. Just to tell you that recently some users are facing such issue also. But they are on LAN. You test yourself by connecting it with a LAN cable if the issue still presist, then it should be TM's side problem.

Not all router have this VAP and port binding feature. only specific brand with dedicated IPTV port have it. Actually TM router is powerful. I just repeater for hard to reach places.

Question about Unifi mode in router. To connect HyppTV, the Unifi Mode have to be configure to "IPTV" mode which is port 4 in the router. I tried connect HyppTV to port 3 where it is "Internet" mode, the HyppTV not working. So which means there is some setting for HyppTV box to identify "IPTV" protocol instead of "Internet" protocol? Previously I used Streamyx with HyypTV and router did not set "IPTV" or "Internet" setting and I'm able to watch HyppTV and use internet the same time. Please advise. Thanks

P.S Previously my HyppTV connect to wifi + homeplug + ethernet port. I connect LAN cable to HyppTV and Notebook through the homeplug

*
TM set port 4 for HyppTV use only. They use VLAN to seperate the connection for HyppTV and Internet connection. The only way you can do is either make your HyppTV connect to wifi or make your comouter to connect to wifi. If you want to connect your IPTV through wifi connection you will need to add another SSID and tag it with VLAN: 600.

No. Because your TP-Link router can't read the data on Port 4. Only HyppTV can read it.

I tested with Dlink router set to AP mode and connect to TPlink router's Hypptv port(Lan Port 4) and it work. I connect my Hyyptv box to dlink wifi and manage to watch Hypptv.

But for the 1st time setup, the sequence to on the device must be correct. 1st on the main router and AP, wait for both devices fully initialize then only on the Hypptv TV box. If i on the Hypptv 1st it won't connect properly.

You can try to play around if you have the second router or borrow from some one.... smile.gif

My house wifi signal unable to reach so far and lot of walls sad.gif
I'm planning to connect another router(B) as AP. Then A router LAN 4 port set to "Internet" mode. Router(B) AP will set one of the port to "IPTV" mode. But I'm not sure whether this kind of configuration works or not.

Nope. 1 port only can tag with one VLAN ID. You either tag it with Vlan ID 500 for Internet or VLAN ID 600 for IPTV connection.

Yes, but need a LAN cable to connect from LAN Port 4 to the router2 and select bridge on the WAN connection. I don't know does the Dynamic IP address will work or not, you can try it yourself and see how. And you must disable the DHCP Pool on Router2.

New dlink rounter management UI come with pre-configured AP mode to select. Just select the AP mode it will become an AP. If your router didnt come with pre-configured AP mode then you can manually set it.

1st set your second router IP(for example your main router is 192.168.0.1, then set your second router to 192.168.0.2),

2nd disable DHCP on your second router.

3rd connect your second router(Lan 1) to your main router(Lan 4).

Vlan 600 have to tag to Asus 55uhp port4 then set dlink 850L to AP mode not repeater mode and connect to 55uhp port4, then it will work.

I already tested this setup....but make sure u can get nice wifi signal from your dir-850l where your hyppty setup box locate, as dir-850l have weak wifi penetration

yeah that's the disvantage for using wifi extender or using wifi router as access point.

I tried home plug, it works perfectly, think I will go with this option.

Connect it to the internet port (Lan1-3), Lan port 4 is for Hypptv and it cant link to internet. Or connect to your wifi, and remember to disconnect the lan cable if using the wifi.

Update:
I tried with TP link MR3420 router but it doesn't work.
Now I tried nzuser's way and it works on WiFi. thumbsup.gif

Edit with update #2.
Last night was watching HyppTv and on Facetime with ipad.
At one instance, both hang at the same time.
Does it mean the router cannot handle both devices on WiFi?

Make sure your tv box time and date is the is updated. Because once you power off the box the time will reset, and if it's not the current date and time, you cant link with google account.

To sync the box time please connect tv box to router lan4.

In the router, you go to edit the HyppTv settings. Once you are there, you should see it is assigned to LAN port 4. Try and add a wireless port as access. Next is set up the wireless port with login password.

The original for that is actually from here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1733801

Cable is always more reliable than wifi. That's how it's done in my house too. VLAN600 is trunked from my main router upstairs to my switch next to the TV downstairs. The switch is actually a router but just functioning as a managed switch.

In another house, there's no cable so I use wifi to achieve the same thing. Though not quite the same as described here. Here I use a wifi WDS bridge with 2 Mikrotik APs to send vlan600 to the STB. The STB here is the old one that has no wifi. HyppTV is very sensitive to interference. Any hiccups to its stream and it will lag or even stop. To avoid that I use a 2.4GHz freq that's outside the usual wifi channels of 1-13. Technically it's illegal to do that but hey, no inteference.

Yeah, stable. No probs at all other than headaches when setting it up.

All routers can do vlans. If cannot then it won't work with UniFi in the first place. Cheaper routers might not have the feature exposed to the user because they want to keep the GUI easy. Some features may only be configurable via the command line. I would expect a high end RM1000 Asus to be able to do it.

Mikrotik's approach is a bit different. What you can do on the RM10,000 model, you can also do on the RM150 model. The OS is exactly the same. The limitations are CPU speed and RAM.

Not a must to use Mikrotik. You can use Cisco or Ubiquiti. Not sure about this but probably premium models of DLink, Asus or TPLink also can. You only need a capable router at one end and a managed switch at the other. Don't need a 2nd router. I use a 2nd router because I don't have a managed switch. If you have a spare router from UniFi you can also use that. For example, you can use the DIR-615 in place of the switch. The vlan trunk cable into ether1 and Hytpptv out ether5 as pre-configured. I haven't actually tried this but it should work.

Anyway to summarise, the main router is the most important. The user must able to configure PPPoE and VLAN access & trunk ports.

Hey everyone,

Recently, got Unifi with the HyppTv. Only issue is my TV is a floor above the router and wanted to go wireless. Since I had the new TP Link router that can't do VAP, I thought, why not use my old Streamyx router(DB120-WL) as the AP. I set up it as a wireless switch/AP and connected one of the LAN ports to LAN4 of the TP-Link router. It connected the STB to the AP and it 'works'. It managed to sync the NTP time, and I got into the HyppTv app. Finally, something works on the first try.

I celebrated too soon.

Only issue is that, I can't watch channels live, and the red crossed out satellite appears. I can only watch time shift enabled channels.

Any solutions to this? I don't know whether to enable VLAN/VAP on the Streamyx router, as it is already enabled in the TP Link one.

Hi all,

Am pretty stuck at the moment. Am using 850L and it seems that there is no option for Port Binding. I've created the SSID and changed the WAN connection to IPTV. However, when I tried to connect my STB to the new SSID, I kept getting 'Authentication Failed'. Even called TM to get my IPTV password and set up the SSID user name and password according to my IPTV info but still fruitless. Anyone has the same issue?

Am already at the brink of surrendering and just buy the TM additional device to help get my Hypptv set up in another room.

I have the same issue as you. Created a guest SSID on the 850L, assigned it to IPTV on the WAN page and when I connect it to the SSID, "Authentication failed". But if you assign that SSID to Internet on the WAN page, the STB will connect to the SSID and gain access to the internet.

Any sifus out here can teach us how to get the IPTV to work on the 850L? Thanks.

Yes, homeplug is very easy to setup. Basically just plug in and play. It's also very stable. All this if your abode is single-phase electricity or if 3-phase, both power sockets are on the same phase. If different phase then YMMV.

I speak from experience as I was using 2 Aztech Homeplugs for my HyppTV, from router upstairs to living room downstairs. I used this for almost 5 yrs before I changed to vlan trunking. The homeplugs seem to be quite resilient too having survive a few thunderstorms throughout that time.

Look at the big fuses next to your TNB meter. Single got one fuse and 3-phase got 3 fuses.

Can somebody verify that is this the correct method of checking is there any connection between 2 wall LAN/CAT socket which are at the same floor.
I do not know is there any cable inside the wall LAN/CAT socket.
Purpose is to connect the hypptv to the router which are not at the same area.

If not, what are the correct method?

Thanks!

Why don't you just leave the router where it is and just connect the Router Lan1 to the wall RJ45. At the other end, connect the PC Ethernet port to the wall RJ45.

You're almost there. Do what you did. Connect one RJ45 wall socket to the router. Then connect the other wall socket to a PC, laptop, HyppTV or whatever. See if the LAN led on the router got light up or not.

If lights up means got connectivity.

no light on the router.
Meaning that no connection.

Call TM, need to connect LAN cable directly from router LAN 4 port to HyppTV Ethernet port.

Will it works if i connect the LAN cable through RJ45 sockets?

Thanks.

You should get someone to test out the wall RJ45 and see if the cabling were done correctly.
No light means no connection.

If the RJ45 ports in the room are not connected, it means there is no connection to the other RJ45 ports outside of that room.

That wouldn't make sense. Kinda hard to put in cables after that right?. Have to hack the walls again. You can pry open the RJ45 wall sockets. I'm quite sure they have cables connected. Maybe need to check that they are punched down correctly.

Normally, let's say you have 3 RJ45 sockets around the house. Those 3 cables will all lead to one place. Maybe under the stairs, maybe the storeroom or somewhere.

For example, in my house I have a total of 10 RJ45 wall sockets all over the house. They all lead to the room upstairs into 2 neat rows of 5 RJ45 sockets.

Given that then there are a few possibilities:

1. No cable between them, as you suggested. You can check this by opening the socket and having a look.
2. There's a break in the cable. Some routers can test for this by showing the cable length so if the cable length is shorter than the distance between the sockets then you know there's a break.
3. The sockets not punched down properly which can be easily corrected. Most developers have electrical sub-cons to do the network cabling, much cheaper than a proper network cabling company. Most times they don't punch down the sockets properly.
4. The sockets are wired incorrectly. Easily corrected since the RJ45 jacks are usually color-coded.
5. The RJ45 sockets are damaged in some way. Can be replaced.

Can't see properly. Got screws or not? Usually 2. If got, unscrew first. The whole thing will come of. If dun have means you can pry off the faceplate.

Anyone using Asus RT-N12HP_B1 tried this method?

I tried searching on the setting page and it seemed that the VID binding only applicable for 3 option: Internet, LAN 3 and LAN 4. It doesn't seemed like there's any method to bind it to specific SSID even though I could create multiple SSID via Guest Network.

TP-Link router does not have such function. Unless if you flash it with open wrt or ddwrt. Or elese, it is impossibe to do so.

I don't think we can. This model does not support SSID binding so it won't work.

I wonder this could help me.

I have ordered a powerline kit and I connected the first part of kit to the port 4 of DIR-850L of router
The other one I connect to the hypptv directly.
I still cannot watch anything, the tv box give me no signal.
I also ran a connectivity test via setup box and it tells me that DNS failed.
How to solve that help is appreciated thanks

NVM solved
Seems like the order of booting the machines is important

I am using TL-WPA 4220. However it still have some problems if using powerline. the signal is not stable at all, the tv signal gone after watching for 10mins (less than that). Need to reset whole thing but mostly no use. Doing an internet check via the hypptv box tells me DNS connectivity failed.

I have 3-phase wiring at my hometown and using HomePlug to connect PCs/laptops located far from the router.

On the same phase, you can expect optimal performance but degrades slightly as the wire length goes further (e.g. between downstairs & upstairs).

On different phase, it still work but with some degradation in performance. However, if your Internet access is 50Mbps or below, it should not be an issue. It should not also be an issue for HyppTV.

You can subscribe to it by buying individual channels or you can check out for the latest plan that is being offered by TM for non-unifi customers.

So I'll go straight to the point, and below is the step by step set up guide.  biggrin.gif

1. Log in to your UniFi router, username and password is readily available online.

Hope you guys enjoy it.  smile.gif

Yes, it was done on a computer to get the screen shot, you can also do it on mobile device with a web browser, it's just not so easy to read.

Edit: forgot the latter part, I don't think TM contractors or technicians will configure it for you, usually they will just tell you that it can only be connected with LAN cable through LAN4 port on the router.

This is the color code for T568a & T568b wiring color code.
Look like the developer wiring man mix the wiring connection for T568a & T568b.

Problem is there are no connection from my hypptv & router port 4 (connection through wall lan jack).
Is this the causes?

Wrong already. Is it wall jack to wall jack? If yes, just follow the colours for A or B on both wall jacks. If one end is cable, then check whether the cable is done A or B and follow on the wall jack.

The actual wire colour is not really important. You just need to make sure the same colours are connected the exact same way at both ends and it'll work. Try testing using cable tester if you have one.

I have corrected the connection by connect both wall lan rj45 jacket based on B standard.
Tested with my pc, it work.

However when I connect to hypptv, the setting for DCHP show cable connected, but there is an " !" on the icon & fail to turn on the hypptv.

Strange is that when I connect the lan cable directly from my modem lan port 4 to hypptv lan port, it work
This show that hypptv cannot connect through wall to wall jacket.

Did somebody experience this before? Thanks.

HyppTV STB to Wall jack to Wall jack to Modem port 4.
Is that right? That will work. No switches or anything in between right?

Yes, no switches in between.
First I suspect the jack or cables between both jack, but after I tested with my pc, it works.
I did call telekom before, they said hypptv need to connect directly.

Is this related to hypptv stb setting or cable type?

As far as the wall jacks and cables are concerned, if it works for a PC, it’ll work for HyppTV.

Just think of the “cable-wall jack x 2-cable” as one component. Use that to connect directly from HyppTV to the appropriate port on your router and it’ll work.

You've tried the STB direct to the router and it works, right? Then it should be working just fine. You also tried your PC to the wall jack and it works also correct? Then the wall jacks are fine too. And if your PC works, the android TV box should work also. So it's something else that's wrong.

The TM router can be replaced with another UniFi compatible router, no problem. Got many to choose from, Mikrotik, DLink, TPLink, Linksys, Cisco, Asus or any router that supports VLAN.

Add-on also can but no point. Waste electricity only.

Hi All,

I have a Mikrotik RB952Ui, tried many settings with wifi AP but my STB (Huawei EC6108V8) always cannot connect. Once I set the Wifi AP to VLAN 600, it will say error connecting or stuck at obtaining IP stage. Once I set it to VLAN 500, no problem with connection.

Has anyone successfully using RouterOS to allow STB to connect via wifi? I looked at the instruction on the first post, but couldn't find port binding for Mikrotik ROS.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Hi, can you post in the Mikrotik thread along with your /export? I haven't tried this myself but it should work.

Due to some technical reasons, this doesn't work on the DIR-850L.

Hi thanks for reply. Somehow today I managed to get it to connect to the VAP by simply defining it as VLAN ID 600, with and without security. In the past it was never able to obtain IP address. So now I could actually connect via wifi. However, the problem is the speed is soooo slow... I can see VLAN600 data coming in at 8Mbps, but the wireless transmission only 800+kbps! Video keeps lagging and mostly can't see anything! Any way to speed this up? Thanks.

Some of the code related to the setup is below:

/interface vlan
add interface=ether1-gateway name=vlan500 vlan-id=500
add interface=ether1-gateway name=vlan600 vlan-id=600

/interface wireless
add disabled=no keepalive-frames=disabled l2mtu=1598 mac-address=\
00:00:00:00:00:00master-interface=wlan1 multicast-buffering=disabled name=\
wlan3 security-profile=profile1 ssid=hypptv wds-cost-range=0 \
wds-default-cost=0 wps-mode=disabled

/interface bridge port
add bridge=bridge comment=defconf interface=ether2-master
add bridge=bridge comment=defconf interface=wlan1
add bridge=bridge comment=defconf interface=wlan2
add bridge=bridge-iptv interface=ether5
add bridge=bridge-iptv interface=vlan600
add bridge=bridge-iptv interface=wlan3

Try setting multicast-helper=fuil for wlan1 and see if that helps.

Also keep in mind that any 2.4Ghz activity will interfere with the HyppTV stream since wlan1 & wlan3 are on the same channel. If the above works, try watching something and doing a Speedtest on your phone at the same time, the HyppTV will probably start lagging.

It worked!! Thank you so much @soonwai!! Mostly smooth now even when doing a Speedtest. Speedtest showing 30Mbps (I’m on unifi30) even though hypptv is running. I actually tried the same router setting before this but didn’t work. What I did was upgrading my STB yesterday to a newer version and it worked today. Perhaps was some settings issue previously?

That's awesome. No problem. Not sure if the newer STB has anything to do with it but possible I guess. I haven't actually tried something like this. The closest is 2 Mikrotiks as a wds bridge. One connected to the router and one to the old HyppTV STB, the one without wifi built-in. I had to set multicast-helper=full also for this to work smoothly.

anybody experienced the problem to keyin Wifi password to alphabet mode?

i am in Settings to turn on the WLAN. so i chose my Wifi and tried to enter my password but the remote can only key in NUMBERS.

i tried to pressed the # TEXT button but i can only keyin NUMBERS.
I even called TM 100 to explain but they can't and said that this is the first case happened.
tried to reboot my Hypptv but still cannot.

I don't want to change my Wifi password to NUMBERS only to solve this problem because that is not the best solution.

pls help out thanks.

I got my new 30mb unifi today. They gave me a tplink AC1200.

My setup is 3 connection points from a router at my study room downstair to living room and master room upstair, connected through power line adapter.

Before unifi, i use streamyx for internet and iptv, they worked well where i connected any on the lan port to my study room powerline.

But today with new streamyx, when connected using port4 (vlan IPTV) to powerline adpater, iptv worked but the internet. If I connected other ports to the power line, internet worked but IPTV not working. I was looking at ac1200 functions and i couldnt find any vlan bridging.

One way to solve this is to use a switch but I reckon it is redundant and waste of electricity. Supposedly the router could be configured to achieve this. Perhaps I just noob, out of idea how to solve it.

Anyone could shed any light?

Thank in advance.

Make sure where you want the text input is selected and press the big OK button. A keyboard should pop up on screen to key in alphabet. Hope this helps.

Hi All, i have configured VLAN 600 on my TP link router LAN port 4 & connected to my new HyppTV STB, but it doesn't work, can't view HyppTV channels.
FYI, same configuration works fine with old HypTV STB.
Anyone can advise?

Where did you get your new HyppTv STB?
Maybe your Unifi account is still bind to the old HyppTv STB, that is why the old STB still can work.

From your earlier post, you mentioned that the same configuration works fine with the old HyppTv STB but not the new STB.
Now you said the new HyppTv STB worked with the new TM router, but doesn't work with the old TP Link router.

Most likely is the TP Link router not configured correctly.
What is the model of the TM router and your TP Link router?

It is a new UniFi account or existing one? If new account, did you update the UniFi ID and password in own TP-link router? Btw you're on fibre or VDSL?
What's the TM router model & TP-link model?

Have you tried replicating AC1200 settings into C7? Or tried loading C7 Unifi profile and configure from fresh? What's you C7 hardware/firmware version? What's the modem model come with the plan? Most likely VLAN and port binding not correct in C7.

I don't use UBNT but the concept is quite simple. Create a new wifi interface, say wlan2. Bridge this to vlan600. Connect your STB to wlan2.

Well, it's model specific, you need to tell your model number before anyone can help, and I believe a lot of people here will happily find that out for you if you're using stock TM router.

QUOTE(nzuser @ Nov 30 2015, 06:47 AM)

2. Go to Wireless tab and then SSID Configuration, enable second SSID in the list by clicking the Edit button.

http://i.imgur.com/vznXEFC.jpg

Still not sure why it didn't work the first time when I set up the SSID2.  unsure.gif

http://i.imgur.com/xclIAAT.jpg

4. Click Submit button at the bottom of the page to save settings.

5. Now go to Setup tab and then WAN Configuration, edit the connection with VLAN ID 600. It's the notepad icon with a pen on it, NOT the icon looks like a recycle bin.  biggrin.gif

http://i.imgur.com/IQVpAmw.jpg

6. In WAN Connection settings, under Port Binding, tick the box SSID2 for WLAN Port.

http://i.imgur.com/tsOCBbM.jpg

Hope you guys enjoy it.  smile.gif

Only if you have a separate AP connected to the LAN of the HyppTV, which by then is better if you connect to the AP wirelessly.

Hi

ur stb is Huawei EC6108V8? can i know u use which router?

is the distance between stb and router far away like in different floor?

because i notice sometime the stb wifi reception is quite weak and will get stuttering due to wifi congestion, especially during peak time where everyone around is using it.

Yes the same stb and using mikrotik RB952Ui router.

Stb and router on the same floor. Stb in my room and router outside. I reserved the 5Ghz for stb only. But yea when I tried with tv downstairs, reception is weak and will get stuttering too.

In my town there is no tm unifi yet. But we still can register for unifi lite - 10 Mb/s. With lite we can only watch unifi tv (hypp yv) using mobile phone (cant watch on tv) since there is no set top box provided by tm.
.
Can we buy the top box from the shop and use it to watch unifi tv and estimated how much does it cost?

Please help me. I have zero knowledge in this. Tq

No. You can’t do that unfortunately, but trust me, you are not really missing anything by not having the STB.

unifi tv needs the box as well as a separately allocated bandwidth to work - found in unifi only.

unifi lite only allows u to use unifi playtv - an app - for phones, tablets, android boxes and smart tv with androidtv.

your best bet is to cast from phone or tablet to tv.

or get a smart tv or andorid box that can run unifi playtv... note: not all tv's and boxes can do that.

be informed unifi tv has many channels in HD while unifi playtv are all in SD.

Actually it makes some difference by using STB...

At least what I know STB runs on a separate VLAN which will not have compromise on your internet bandwidth whereas the unifi playtv, even though you can make it run on third party android box, will consume part of your available bandwidth.

Yes I am aware of that fact. I was referring to the okay channels on the UnifiTV which isn’t worth having the STB box anyway.

Can you explain the step ?

Hi all, i just install unifi today.
I kinda read some of the comment - tplink archer C1200 is impossible to connect hyppTV via wireless.

So i bought a tp link pass through power plug.
Unfortunately, my house is 3 phase circuit.
And it seems i cant really utilize my power plug.

My router install @ upstairs room.
Planning to put HyppTV at my living room which is down stair (seems to me diffferent circuit)

What i have try on the power plug.
1) home plug able to pair with no issue. First try on port 1~3 which is Vlan 500. (success tested out able to get my laptop with internet with the lan cable.

2) then i try to plugin to port 4 wich is Vlan600. The pair auto become red.
I was trying to put the Hypp TV in my room instead, since i am not able to put in living room (fail)

Need your comment what to try . Thanks smile.gif

ur homeplug which model? is it rated av1200?

u means the homeplug work with internet but not the hypptv? u test with same power socket?

can try reset/re pair the homeplug by pressing the button on it.

my house also is 3 phase, the homeplug work perfectly fine with hypptv.

i have tested whole night and this morning. I manage to get the home plug work.
Just have to put the home plug in the same circuit. unfortunately my up stair and down stair circuit is different. bye.gif bye.gif

I manage to check on the hua wei hypp TV seems to have the wireless function there. Able to connect to normal wireless.
If i could set out the VLan 600 out via wireless then my hyppTV should be access wirelessly, too bad my router model TP link C1200, not able to do that (happen to read some of all comment from lowyat here.)

Maybe some sifu did that b4, can share me the step.

so far it working fine for my hypptv.

iptv and hypptv same, u can use that login info in playtv for ur phone.

btw, did u try plug the homeplug into power socket directly? or you use extension socket?

Thanks for replying
FYI i have read some on the extension and wall plug scenario (comment from bro/sis here ), and decided to test out myself on some of the scenario:

My house condition = 3 phase
Double story House

Same circuit = same floor
1) Power socket A to router (wall plug @ 2nd Floor), power socket B to HyppTV [Using my PC monitor to display @ 2nd Floor](wall plug) - Success
2) Power socket A to router (Extension @ 2nd Floor), power socket B to HyppTV [Using my PC monitor to display @ 2nd Floor] (wall plug) - Success
3) Power socket A to router (Extension @ 1st Floor), power socket B to HyppTV [Using my TV @ 1st Floor](Extension) - Success

Note: 3 ) i got a long Extension wire so i decide to use it @ 1st floor wall plug

different circuit = different floor
1) Power socket A to router (wall plug) (2nd Floor), power socket B to router (wall plug) (1st Floor) - Fail
2) Power socket A to router (Extension) (2nd Floor), power socket B to router (wall plug) (1st Floor)- Fail
3) Power socket A to router (Extension) (2nd Floor), power socket B to router (Extension) (1st Floor) - Fail

https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-406.html
I refer here - search key word > three-phase circuit
If i see and digest the diagram correctly. (Not sure about the zero line)
Red line = circuit. There is 3 red line which means there is 3 different circuit.
Note that private Network A supported by 1 Lan port, private network B supported by different Lan port.
If check correctly the redline = circuit is independent. Network A/B support on its own ciruit only.

Correct me if i am wrong cry.gif

Actually i also use the homplug in double storey house, upstairs and downstairs and they can link up for hypptv, but i not sure whether they're connected to same phase or different.

In ur case, maybe the wiring layout is different, so the homeplug cannot work at different floor. So, i think the only way is to use a long extension socket like u mentioned. 🤔

I'm also using EC6108v8 and DIR850L. How did you get to configured the wifi IPTV 600.
I've tried changing the WAN connection for 1 of the wireless connection to IPTV and save. After reboot, it changes back to internet.

My firmware is still at 2.06

Why homeplug is better than wireless? Is the picture clearer than wireless or simply
because homeplug has less signal "disturbance" (but picture quality still the same)?

I'm asking because currently, I'm using old hypptv that doesnt have wifi. I connect it using
a homeplug. Right now, I'm thinking to buy another hypptv with built in wifi because I hate seeing the
homeplug turns on all the time... (it wastes my electricity, and I'm too lazy to go downstairs to turn on/off the homeplug).

Better don't

The stability is day and night difference if compare homeplug to WiFi. WiFi especially 2.4Ghz is congested and it has a lot of interferences. Not to mention, IPTV is very sensitive to jitter and it may affect the video quality.

I tends to get stuttering or lag with hypptv if connected it using WiFi, but after change to homeplug, no more this issue.

Actually, homeplug consume very little power only. It will enter power saving mode if the device connected is inactive. Or u can also choose to only turn on the homeplug when it is needed. ☺

Hello sifus,

Refer to the schematics, I need to connect my STB and PC in the living room to the router via a homeplug.

Is there a way to reconfigure the router so that I do not have to change the wire to the router every time i use the PC (internet connection) and vice versa (HYppTV STB).

(NOTE It might be confusing but homeplug B had 2 ports.)

Does this require a VLAN trunking or smth???

Thanks

Not possible, why do you need to connect the PC to the home plug anyway? Just get a good inexpensive wireless adapter that is readily available, and it is much better to connect to the router directly through wireless anyway, rather than a home plug. You can configure VLAN trunking but you need the right equipment and the network know-how.

Point me a way and I'll try figure it out..
The pc is a small Intel NUC, it has build in WiFi. However there's literally 10+ other WiFi connections nearby so the WiFi is not as good, especially streaming live sport games, it will lag or reload. I bought the home plug for that purpose initially.

However after upgrade to unifi with hypptv, both the PC and Hypptv STB required the homeplug. So now whenever I want to use hypptv or the pc, I have to keep switching the cable to the router.

Any suggestion to reconfigure the router so the homeplug can share connection?

You have to use a different router, preferably an enterprise router, such as Mikrotik or Ubiquiti. Second, I would recommend you get an wireless AC adapter, preferably something on the 5GHz band, so that your connection won’t get affected by the large number of WiFi networks around you. Ideally, you should get a home plug that have wireless AC, or 5GHz, if you don’t have it already, so that you can connect to it using your new wireless adapter. That will solve the problem of you constantly reconnecting.

Or you can get another home plug just for your PC?

Yeah, you’ll need vlans. There’s another thread with the details. I’ll dig it up later if you haven’t found it.

You can also achieve this with 2 separate sets of homeplugs but there’ll be interference so performance may be degraded.

Here you go:

My setup, roughly:

The red line can be anything. Homeplugs, cable, wifi, fibre, etc.

As silentvampire said, you’ll need vlan capable equipment and do a bit of homework. But no worry, plenty of guides around.

hypptv box connected lan from router does not utilize your actual bandwidth right? It uses a dedicated bandwidth for hypptv.

So if you connect via wifi, does it use the bandwidth that is shared across other devices?

The 2nd wifi already tag vlan600. So wont take internet bandwidth.. but maybe 'wifi bandwidth' ?

No, it won't. It's still using vlan600 with separate bw. However having a constant stream of wifi from router to STB will affect your overall wifi performance. Google "wifi collision avoidance" for more info.

Currently I'm using Mikrotik RG750Gr3 for the main router and my old Mikrotik RB2011UAS-2HnD as the switch.

The router can be any router that can handle VLANs. Likewise, the switch can be any switch or router that can handle VLANs.

Most if not all D-Link routers can do wireless HyppTV.

It’s in the firmware and no additional config required

check the review link.
but I still recommend it wired/powerline. used wireless hypptv before and it s*ck arse with RG 4332. dunno about D-link thou.
unifi at 1st floor. hypptv at G floor. quite a lot of inference/sangkut2 it become annoying af. powerline also hit & miss. especially when your house wiring got a lot of electrical inference. good for short distance not really for long distance between powerline
better buy a xx meter lan cable & some cable trunking. total cost rm100-150 for me. janji my family doesnt bug me when every time hypptv got problem rclxm9.gif

Your routers need to be able to create a vlan trunk and likewise the switch needs to be vlan aware. Usually this means a managed switch.

As an example, I'm using a Mikrotik RB750Gr3 as my main router and a RB2011UAS as my vlan switch. The latter is a router but configured as a switch.

You can actually, by using Mikrotik routers or routers that support VLAN tagging over wireless instead of port-based VLAN.

You also don't need to connect to port 4 of your router to do so, and it can be any port you want, as long as you tag VLAN600 manually to any LAN port on your router.

My old Unifi STB died on me (Huawei EC2108E) and I managed to buy a secondhand STB (Huawei EC6108V8). However after having booted it up and entering my iptv username and password, it says "service unavailable" - I have Internet but no TV.

Is there any way I can get it to work. I managed to do a factory reset of the EC1608V8 but it still doesn't work.

I read somewhere that I need to call TM to tell them to change their database to update with the new MAC address for my STB. Do I need to do that? I thought it was just an easy username and password setup item but I'm getting frustrated.

The diagnostics and about screen tells me that I have the latest STB - this is the one with no PlayStore in it.

TIA for any help to be able to set it up.

*
You need to get TM technicians or LiveChat to update new MAC address for your STB to tie with your account. It have to be done no matter what. Sorry, but that is just the way it is.

Hi,

My hypptv used to worked fine wirelessly (I followed this thread) until recently when I hard reset the router.

Now when I use the same methods, an error occured; I can logged in to the wifi (iptv WiFi) but couldnt load tv channels.

Belows are the steps :

Create new SSID for IPTV
Attached Image

Port binding

------
My method simply different because I'm using ZTe H267A and the router page is different from TS. Am I missing something?

Just tried it yesterday.

Finally it works with D-link DIR-842 router and Huawei EC6108v8 STB. But it is very laggy most of the time.

Router & BTU is in store room, while HyppTV STB is in living room. There's a RJ45 wall socket at living room's wall, connected to store room.

Previously using Powerlines, but it's not stable (lag, disconnect etc). So I have to use cable, losing that wall socket for Internet.

I wonder will the setup above work? Can standard TM-supplied/consumer routers with Unifi VLAN tagging work in AP mode too? Thanks.

No. TP-Link routers don't support HyppTV via Wifi.

So far need to restart the Powerline once a day. Not critical but annoying.

I've ordered TP-Link SG108E. Will try to setup once it's here.

Before I switched to using a vlan trunk, I used a set of Aztech Homeplugs for my HyppTV for almost 2 years, no problem or a need to restart. Single phase house electricity.

Ended up with VLAN untagging & Powerline combination. Looks stable so far.

Port mirroring function in TP-Link SG108E is great. I'm able to see how much IPTV bandwidth HyppTV is using.

i also got problem of wiring LAN4 to STB because the main router is located at upstairs and STB is located at downstairs. The problem is my living room only got one network wall socket. Either plug to normal port or IPTV port for my main router at upstairs.

You say can use powerline, may I know if powerline plug to LAN4 as IPTV will degrades my unifi internet speed?

about the restart issue, I can order two more digital timers to let it switch off 1 minute at midnight.

It shouldn't degrade internet speed.

In my case, HyppTV via powerline it's unstable. Maybe TP-Link C1200 doesn't like Powerline connected to LAN4, who knows, or due to my home's 3-phase wiring. Now after HyppTV is offloaded from my router, everything is fine.

As a good powerline can cost almost RM200, you might as well buy 2 TP-Link SG105E switch and trunk both VLAN 500 & 600 via your single network cable downstair.

I did this with my Dlink wbr2300 too, exact same outlook and interface. Still fail at connection test step 7 multicast. shakehead.gif

Is it possible to relay the signal wirelessly assuming there's no WLAN adapter on the set top box and that I need to plug some sort of device into the LAN port of stb to receive IPTV data. rizvanrp said something like getting a pair of router in WDS bridging mode. Or there are homeplugs pair that connect wirelessly? Thanks biggrin.gif

TLDR:
~connect via WLAN adapter of STB doesnt work for me
~connect via homeplug powerline adapter does not work for me cause I need to stream to my next house, running on separate circuit.

To those of you successfully get the wireless option to work, how's the performance? The viewing experience? Does it stutter? Howndoes it fare compared to powerline solution?

Actually I have this in mind, check the diagram below. Connecting STB directly to the slave router that connects via VLAN port can work but the STB's NIC is shit, only supports 2.4Ghz, plus the slave router needs to be place on second floor so the signal is utterly useless. But if it's gonna work as per the diagram below, it will cost a lot (unless you got a lot of spare router that could support VLAN and WDS), so might as well get a powerline rclxub.gif, you get what I mean? brows.gif

Yes, high end routers with wds and vlan feature, preferably router pair of the same brand for wds mode.

If without existing network ports, I dun think it is easy to implement the two ports from TM wifi router to another switch then to two different devices at different floors.

Couldn't do it so ended up using Powerline, but router no longer do VLAN tagging for HyppTV, it's done at my switch. HyppTV still loses signal sometimes, but I only need to restart BTU without restarting the rest of my network.

lucky my unifi tv is next to my wifi router, so no issue about this connectivity. In fact, I dun watch unifi tv at all since I am watching Astro instead.

I bought the TP-link TL-SG108 without 'E' switch to extend the gigabit Ethernet ports from my wifi router. So far so good. Previously my Sony tv I connect using wifi becos not enough ports on the wifi router, when I cast YouTube video to the tv, it always stucks at loading sometimes after a while and always need to off the wifi on the tv and on again to resolve, sometimes even need to repair the tv to my wifi to work. Now problem solved, a lot more stable on Ethernet.

And I have extra ports now to connect many other devices via wired including my MacBook Pro. I can get full internet speed connecting using wire to the newly bought switch.

Never bought the 'E' model becos I did not see it during the IT show when I bought this non 'E'. Now come to think, for home networking, I do not really need vlan tagging also.

So far so good.

Great that you don't need unifi tv.

One more reason I bought SG108E is it can do port mirroring, connected to a small server monitoring Internet traffic.

it is worthwhile to buy SG108E certainly since the price difference is very little. tongue.gif

if it was selling at that time, i will buy it also.
too bad it was not.

yes, lucky also i do not need unifi tv and also do not need to do any port mirroring too since I am using my Internet alone. no need to monitor traffic as I am aware of what i use. haha.

I'm using Powerline TP Link AV1300, router DIR-842 on 2nd floor while my smart tv on ground floor (3-phase wiring) connection is good even for HD but there are sometime no IPTV connection even wifi internet is available, even restarting everything. Luckily not heavily watching TV, I can switch to Netflix if Unifi TV not available. Can it be Unifi TV problem itself?

I'm using Powerline TP Link AV1300, router DIR-842 on 2nd floor while my smart tv on ground floor (3-phase wiring) connection is good even for HD but there are sometime no IPTV connection even wifi internet is available, even restarting everything. Luckily not heavily watching TV, I can switch to Netflix if Unifi TV not available. Can it be Unifi TV problem itself?

(^__^)
*
Nope. It is the three phase wiring itself. Power line over three phase wiring is unreliable and is affected by electrical interference.

Anyone here successfully setup HyppTV wirelessly using D-link DIR-882 router?

Just sharing for anyone who want to connect using Wifi for their HyppTV STB. I'm using DIR-882 router. This is what I do on the setting.

Login modem setting > Internet > VLAN > Interface Traffic Type Setting > set Wireless Guest Zone to IPTV.

Go to Wireless > Disable Smart Connect.

Go to Wireless > Guest Zone > Enable 2.4GHz > Choose your own SSID, password and always enable.

Go to Network > Advanced Settings > IPv4 Multicast Streams > Enable multicast.

Restart modem. Connect your HyppTV STB to guest WiFi SSID, done.

Hi,
has anyone successfully connect the Hypptv set top box Huawei EC6108V8 with the TM D-Link DIR-850L (the cylindrical shape) router? Currently the box is in my living room together with the router but at times I wanted to view Hypptv channels in my bedroom.

I've tried connecting using the Pakite PAT-580 (HDMI version) and managed to view it in the bedroom but I'm not able to change channels thus I have to go to the living room, change it and walk back which is very troublesome. I had to return the 580 as the seller also could not provide any solution. I've tried using the other Pakite models (RCA type) but there were too much interence which renders it unwatchable.

So, if there's a way to connect it wirelessly, I would only need to bring the box or get a additional box.

If your house is single phase wiring, the powerline could work. Get the one above AV1200.

Thanks for the reply. My house wiring is single phase and I do have AV POWERLINE but the old ones. Not sure if it’s still working or sufficient. My limitation with the powerline is that there’s only 2 plug point near the router and its already utilizing with 3-gang power socket for both. One of the reasons why Im looking at connecting wirelessly.

Anyone’s managed to pair with DIR-850L?

Should be no problem. HyppTV only need max 10Mbps. I've stopped using them but my old Aztech AV500 Homeplugs work pretty much flawlessly for HyppTV. I did a speed test over the AV500s and got around 300Mbps sustained. My house is also single phase. 1 Homeplug upstairs back-room and 1 for HyppTV downstairs living room.

I recommend the TP-Link TL-PA8010P KIT, or the TP-Link PA4010P KIT. Both have pass through, so you can use them with the plug point and still use the plug point for other things.

How to configure with Asus AC-RT88U wirelessly?
quite struggling for past few week for this.
*
For RT-AC88U, this router doesn't support VLAN over wireless...just over Internet and LAN ports.
Attached Image

But, you can connect RT-AC88U LAN3/LAN4 (depends on how you set them manually) to the LAN port of another wireless router with VLAN over wireless support and let the latter becomes a wireless access point. Maybe, you need a VLAN with trunking capable switch in between them.

For ref: https://www.blacktubi.com/guide/make-any-ro...-work-on-unifi/

Another solution is using multicast routing and UDP proxy feature to access directly the IPTV streams via any IPTV apps like VLC player or Kodi player...However, we don't know the multicast IP address and port of every IPTV channel available on HyppTV service and you may need to key in your username@iptv account and password sweat.gif

In the past the multicast range for HyppTV is 239.192.100.xxx probably it has changed.

Previously my HyppTV STB is very stable when it's directly connected to TP-Link C1200 on port 4.

After 500mbps upgrade, I moved the router into store room and connect the STB via Powerline (TP-Link PA4010). The STB frequently got disconnected. Changed to another older Powerline (D-Link AV200) and the problem happens less. But still annoying when you need to restart one Powerline for few seconds while watching TV.

Then I took a D-Link DIR-850L (previously as master bedroom AP) and turn it into router. Tried to setup STB to connect via Wifi but failed. Then I bought back PA4010 Powerline and voila! No problem with STB for 3 days.

But that DIR-850L is probably too underpowered to route at 500mbps, I'm only getting 300mbps max. Local LAN still runs at 700-800mbps.

I guess PA4010 sometime drops multicast IPTV packets when used on C1200 last time, causing the STB to disconnect. Probably D-Link routers have some settings to prevent packet drops when used with that Powerline.

To get back to 500mbps & stable HyppTV, I'm planning to use another D-Link (DIR-868L, flashed to Tomato firmware) as router. If needed, I'll re-flash to stock firmware.

No. TP-Link routers don't support HyppTV via Wifi.
So far need to restart the Powerline once a day. Not critical but annoying.

I've ordered TP-Link SG108E. Will try to setup once it's here.

Guys what options are available as I have the AC1200... Also my house is 3 phase and already check upstairs and downstairs different phase so I suppose powerline won't work...Lan cable also would be really difficult to get to my upstairs especially there is an airwell separating front and back of the house...
Is replacing the wireless router the only option? Could you guys recommend one and what would the price be like... How difficult would it be to set up?
Thanks again

I solved my problem by updating the powerline's firmware. I guess AV500 powerline may work on different phases but I'm not 100% sure. I have an older D-Link AV200 powerline that works too, but laggy most of the time due to not fast enough for HyppTV.

Hi guy, I have 2 accounts, one is Unifi account (without stb but only playunifi apps) while another is streamyx account (with free basic channels with provided STB). Both are different address.

Now I wanna to plan to use the Unifi Hypptv STB to connect my Unifi account because at least they are some international channels compare I watch the free basic channels from Streamyx account.

My kampung area don't have Unifi due to full port or no coverage, but only available my currently streamyx account with basic channels. Well, it's almost 6 years still did not have Unifi. vmad.gif
I wanna to put my STB at my kampung area so that parents can watch the channels. But in that STB, the unifi tv is linked to streamyx account (that basic channels, ntg channel to watch... dry.gif )

So is it possible the STB unifi tv account can sign out and login my playunifi account apps inside the STB Unifi TV to watch more channels than free basic channels?

Then what's setting going to do for the STB? Need you all sifu to advice for it to enjoy better entertainment to old folks.

Been on the 500Mbps Turbo upgrade for months now

I just got a new router, DIR-880L and technician just delivered and installed a new top box, the EC6108V8 (I was away, family still around)

Took me 1 whole night setting up and the TV box keeps saying Central and Multiplexing Connectivity errors

Then when I open up the manual I notice:

1) Connect the Ethernet cable from the TV box to the port# of Residential Gateway - wait not the router!?!

2) Pick HyppTV(Streamyx) instead of HyppTV(Unifi)

Lo and behold - the IPTV login page showed up bangwall.gif

Login modem setting > Internet > VLAN > Interface Traffic Type Setting > set Wireless Guest Zone to IPTV.

But very laggy...... cry.gif

Have you resolved your problem? Probably the STB has a weak Wifi. You can try using this pocket router that can transfer Wifi signal to the STB's Ethernet port.

https://www.tp-link.com/my/home-networking/...uter/tl-wr810n/

I'm using TP-Link PA4010. Most of the time it's OK. Only recently some channels eg Fox sometimes got satellite icon, which is OK after a few seconds, or if I quickly change channels. Probably some channels use higher bandwidth that my Powerline can barely handle (only 28 mbps link rate).

20m open area should be OK.

Yes, USB Wifi dongle possible, but I'm not sure whether it will help.

I guess the STB, or IPTV in general? doesn't like Wifi's higher latency.

I'm considering to upgrade to AV1000 powerline, for 100% reliable HyppTV. Right now I'd say mine is 99.5%. My TP-Link PA4010 is really old tech.

*
Anyways I reset the entire router and re-do the settings. This time it worked without setting up IPv6 (left at "Local Connectivity Only") - home to figure out what's the proper IPv6 setting

Rega RM 169 kat Shopee.

Ada 2 adapter. Pasang Adapter 1 kat plug dinding dekat router, sambung network cable dari router ke Adapter 1. Pasang Adapter 2 kat plug dinding dapur, sambung network cable dari Adapter 2 ke HyppTV. On kan, siap biggrin.gif

Not so fast. If the router and dapur is not on the same electrical circuit, good luck in getting anything at all.

Out of curiosity, I setup a spare D-Link DIR-850L as VLAN 600 AP, connected to router's Port 4, unplugged network cable from the STB, and connect the STB's Wifi to the D-Link. It works, but some channels were sometimes lagging, some other channels were lagging alot, and changing channels took longer time.

The D-Link were inside store room below stairs, and the STB is in living room. Wifi strength at the STB around -55 dbm, so Wifi strength actually quite decent. Maybe a stronger AP works better. Maybe someone can lend me a spare C1200 I can try? tongue.gif

Wired setup still better. My typical setup is a single CAT 5E cable from store room to living room, carrying both Internet & HyppTV signal to STB / living room AP, via VLAN trunk.

I had the same problem with a Mikrotik AP. Mine was solved by turning on multicast-helper. For Mikrotik anyway, multicast will transmit at the slowest rate of the AP so I was getting pixelation, lags and other stuff associated with a slow transmit rate. multicast-helper on the Mikrotik changes the multicast MAC address to the MAC address of the device enabling the AP to transmit at higher rates.

If the DLink doesn't have such a feature, try setting the AP to N only.

Yes it does, I think "Enable IPV4 Multicast", and setup to N only. But still lags on some channels. Maybe TP-Link C1200 with better Wifi performance will fare better. Maybe I need to try out on my C1200 too tongue.gif

I've figured it out
For Netis DL4480V

1. Click WLAN at the main horizontal green bar. Choose Basic Setting for 2.4GHz. In the "Mode" line, click "Multiple AP".
2. Enable AP1. Type a custom SSID. Apply changes.
3. Choose Security under 2.4GHz. Dropdown list, click on your custom new SSID. I chose WPA2 + PSK. Apply changes.
4. Now go to Setup at the main horizontal green bar. Choose Ethernet WAN. Click on Edit for the INTERNET Service Type.
5. Scroll down to Port Mapping. Disable Guest_1. This is your new SSID. Apply changes.
6. Now click on Edit for the IPTV Service Type. Scroll down to Port Mapping. Enable Guest_1. Apply changes.
7. Connect your Set Top Box to your new SSID.
8. ???
9. Profit!

Hi Dear Sifu here,

Need some help on my Hypptv Setup:

I am planning to Setup my HyppTV this way but i am not sure it work or not or how can i make it better, need some suggestion please.

My plan is from 1st Floor TM Alcatel Modem --> Asus RT86u Wireless Router --> Aztech Power Line In --> Ground Floor Aztech Power Line Out --> TP Link LS1005G 5 Port Switch --> One LAN Port connect to HyppTV and One LAN port connect to Tanix 6 Android TV Box.

From my Asus Router, can i plug in LAN Port 4 which is for HyppTV and then into Aztech PowerLine to go down to Ground Floor TP Link Switch before connecting HyppTV Set Top Box and my Tanix 6 Android Box, will Asus LAN Port 4 got a bandwidth Cap?

Currently I use Asus RT86u LAN Port 1 into Aztech Powerline and i can get 120Mps from Ground Floor Aztech Powerline out, was thinking this bandwidth is enough to share through a TP Link switch for both HyppTV and the Tanix 6 Android Box.

Dear Sifu here, can you share your experience will my plan work or is there any better way or any suggestion i can make it work out easier?

Thanks before hand

Both Asus LAN1 (internet) and Asus LAN4 (HyppTV) connecting to the same pair of HomePlugs won't work.

The internet and the HyppTV needs to be separated.

Either physically, 2 cables or 2 pairs of Homeplugs or virtually, using VLANs.

user posted image
Something like this. The red line can be 2 cables or 2 pairs of Homeplugs if not using VLANs. If using VLANs, it can be one cable or one pair of Homeplugs. Red line can also be wifi. With VLANs, you'll need equipment which can do VLANs.

Appreciate the sharing and explanation Soon Wai, if i were ti use VLAN setup, how should i do it? I am currently using Asus RT-86U running Merlin 384.12 Firmware, which i think support VLAN setup right? Where can i configure the setting and how should i setup the Vlan so that i can go as my plan by running 1 Power Line Adapter can carry both Internet and HyppTV connection to the TP Link switch downstairs and split up the connection one to HyppTv and the Internet to the Tanix 6 Android Box.

I am really new to Vlan setup, please help me out, thank you before hand Sifu

You need 2 VLAN-capable switches at both sides of your Powerline, 1 to trunk both VLAN after router, another before your TV box/STB. TP-Link TL-SG105E & SG108E is what I use at my home.

Not sure you can trunk directly from your Asus, even with Merlin.

HI Guys, I'm change my unifi router.
Old router is TGG212M (come with Unifi). Im able to setup the wifi connection for hyppTv.
New router is D-Link DIR1360. This router can't setting the VLAN 600 through Wifi. VLAN600 is on LAN 4.

I'm use TGG212M as access point to transit the iptv signal through wifi.

Mean DIR1360 LAN 4 connect to TGG212M LAN 4.
and do the bridging in TGG212M and create a SSID. Im able to connect hypptv to TGG212M however, the signal is not good.
If anyone does it before. Please share some setting.

Hi,

Can anyone help me..
I have been watching unifitv on my phone since I was not provided with unifi set top box by TM. I was a streamyx user and got converted to unifi for free 2 years ago. I was thinking of buying a used hypptv box(as per the attached pix) online and wondering if I can use my id and password to log in to the unifitv via the hypptv box. Will there be any issue?

I'm interested to know if anyone managed to get this setup working for STB EC6108V8 (white) with DIR-X3060Z router. Please share your findings. Thanks.
