QUOTE(nujikabane @ Jan 20 2016, 11:40 PM)
Has anyone received a letter form TM, pertaining to Unifi Improvement Programme?

Basically, TM technician will come over to your house and replace the power adaptor for the Broadband Termination Unit (BTU). Supposedly, it is free of charge.
Question is, what's with the BTU power adaptor, faulty (?!)
*
QUOTE(jusbella @ Jan 20 2016, 11:45 PM)
no faulty, just upgrade to better adapter.
*
How long is the whole process? I can make a quick dash home during lunch break if it does not take long.

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Jan 20 2016, 11:51 PM)
don't have, even email as well
*
Based from the letter they send, it is done in stages, so the exercise is not rolled out that extensive just yet.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 20 2016, 11:55 PM)
OK lo, I just ignore it.
However, my sister raised a good point about this, she said knowing how Malaysia works, they will not be so nice to purposely deliver and arrange a new adapter to you if the current one has no issue. laugh.gif
Hearing her words, I takut already... sweat.gif
Better late than never. biggrin.gif
*
^ LOl your sis raised a valid point, and i have the same sentiment too.
I mean, if it is not faulty, or prone to damage, why are they bothered to change it?

I however, appreciate the fact that TM is taking proactive measures,
and not just wait for problems to trigger before acting.

QUOTE(OKLY @ Jan 20 2016, 11:07 PM)
Yes still using it and going strong.
Maybe I should try to find some fault with my STB, it's still the first generation one, want to get it changed. laugh.gif
*
What happened to mine was pixelation & video jerking when my download reached 28-29mbps and simultaneously HyppTV is streaming HD channel at ~9mbps. (Total around 38mbps) At first I thought it was line problem or STB problem or maybe BTU problem. The TM guys came and couldn't figure it out but decided to change the STB and test. Actually by that time I began to suspect it might be my router so I just kept quiet and let them change. During testing still got a little bit but seemed better. So they say try first and see how and they left.

Anyway later I found out the problem was user error. I had some firewall rules in my router that I wrongly set and was causing the router to hit 90% cpu usage. Fixed the rules and it's ok now and got new STB. :-)

wcypierre Just in case you're still interested in my HyppTV prob. It was the Mikrotik router after all but my fault.

LOL. It must be serious though. Because in other countries, for example, a faulty power adaptor, maybe they issue a recall and say "don't use it anymore but send it in for a free replacement". Here they come and change for you.

Malaysia companies normally where got so proactive one. TM must be the first one. The power adaptor and then proactively upgrading our upload speed to 10mbps. I would have expected them to make a big PR coup with the latter.

Exactly knowing how we work here, I have not came across a company which is so proactive. Moreover, it is TM and such effort is so so suspicious. laugh.gif

Maybe I will really get it replaced soon. I'm kiasi type. laugh.gif

Absolutely zero difference, speed wise. In fact I'd rather steer clear of the newer BTUs for reliability sake as the components in them are actually cheaper made than the original Alcatel BTUs.

it's already open secret TM give extra speed during Streamyx era.

System wise it was 10Mbps*1024*0.1 = 11264 Kbps.

As far as I knew,
the answer is no, renewal of contract through package upgrading doesn't get extended 1 more year warranty.
Only those life-time warranty equipment aka BTU got life-time warranty.
