guys, i just recently got call from tm about this new advance 30. should i upgrade to advance30 ? but i already reject the offer since it require me to create another 2years contract. can i call to tm again and ask for this offer again?

current plan: VIP 10 -RM179( RM187 with gst)
new plan offered by tm : unifi advance 30mbps - RM179( rm187 with gst)

based on price its same. and here is the pro and cons that i know.

pro
- more faster download from 10mbps to 30mbps ( good for my torrenting, files downloads etc)
- no price increase

cons
- upload speed decrease from 10mbps to 5mbps ( i hosting movie streaming to my friends, but they rarely access it btw)
- no more free voice call to fixed line( but mostly i nvr use this phone)
- left 1 year contract, if i take new plan, it will renew back to 2years. but currently not planning to move out since i bought that house.

normally i use internet for
- normal browsing
- IPTV( astro on the go, iflix)
- movies torrents
- files download

currently only me and my wife use internet. she mostly streaming movies. should i upgrade or not ?

I'm using Yes4G (RM98 for 5GB/5GB peak/offpeak) for my Internet atm and thinking to upgrade to unifi. But 30Mbps for 2 person seems overkill
*
overkill is depend on ur usage bro.
like mine, even tho use by me and my wife only but here is the usage
me - heavy torrent, few GBs weekly/daily, games downloads
wife - streaming everynight

i need unlimited internet, which i cant find other plan except streamyx/unifi. cheapest is unifi vip5 ( rm158) but my unifi30 plan is rm189 which is i think worth the price for that speed.

so if ur usage just around 3-4Gbs per month, better stick with ur current Yes4G.

Yeah, I was lucky to be chosen by TM for upgrade. smile.gif I believe sooner or later, all 30Mbps users will get 10Mbps upload. Some of us are helping you to test the speed first. tongue.gif
*
i dont think 30mbps user will simply upgraded to that upload speed. could it be TM staff forgot to change ur upload speed if u using vip10 before ?
like mine, seem like my contract didnt renew after i upgrade to unifi30.

Not only me. There are few of us who got 10Mbps upload. I changed to 30Mbps from VIP 10 in July and my upload speed was changed only in around mid of Nov.
*
how much u paying for ur unifi30 ?

QUOTE(MyPIA @ Jan 6 2016, 09:42 AM)
It is not due to old customers, new customers are also getting 10Mbps upload speed, it depends on area mostly
*
then its more weird cos in their website should be 5mbps if their plan is unifi30,, only unifi50 got 10mbps upload. mybe their system got bug ? tongue.gif

Citylink n TM partner to help unifi consumer to replace new adapter.
*
what kind of adapter? izit the power adapter for the modem or the fiber termination adapter?
any effect if i didnt change it? its quite suspicious they didnt inform me anything about this before. even their note dont hv any TM or unifi logo.

I got the crappy D-Link one.

My friend got the same thing. Can't get full speed on wireless if the distance is a little further and blocked by wall.
*
mine is old silver D link wifi router, unifi30mbps plan, test with speedtest :

tested with wireless (phone/mobile infront of router)- can reach 30mbps sometimes but speed is not stable, from 10mbps to 30mbps. so far connection stable if more than 5 devices connected to wireless, just the only speed is not stable. could be from other neighbour wifi interference

tested with wired- can reach 30mbps at all times and quite stable from the speedtest.

for me, yeah the router quite sucks, wifi speed not stable, u cant change dns settings etc. but its enough for browsing n sosial media. hahahhaha

I opened a service ticket via OCC trying my luck saying my neighbor has 10mbps and all, they replied saying they can't do anything as ADV30 plan is 30/5 speed.
*
thats wat i thought too. since its already stated 30/5 is the official speed. if less speed, we can complaint, but if ask them to increase the speed, we dont hv right to do it.
those 30/10 should be lucky thumbup.gif

tried both on my PS4 and android box, pretty smooth for me.

Isn't it pretty obvious already?
*
so far there is no official statement yet from unifi regarding this upload speed increase, dont u think its quite weird they give u free upgrade speed without cost increase ? i mean the official speed already stated there when u upgraded, and if they increase the speed for free, its not giving them any benefits lol laugh.gif

yeah, same as me. last time VIP10 rm179( w/o gst) then upgrade to unifi30 with same price.
slower upload speed actually didnt effect me much, just that my torrent seed always limit at 5mbps tongue.gif
and my friends that streaming at their home from my server at my home, said so far they didnt have any issue with 5mbps, mybe those smaller bitrate , if fullHD and higher bitrate, mybe lagging already.

still waiting for unifi to upgrade my upload speed to 10mbps sweat.gif

since i don't have astrok.. unifi hypptv is not really bad.with Mega Pack the old one... the content is pretty interesting paired with iflix/netflix.more than enough for me.

i only spend 1 -2 hour watching tv per day.LOL.

the only downside, cannot watch EPL...but nvm can use my mom's AOTG account.
*
same as me bro, every month i just pay RM189 for unifi only.

- hyyptv( cause i dont hv astro and only watch tv 1-2 hours a day, enough for me to watch tv1-tv9)
- using my dad's AOTG acc on my house, so its free and include sport package too
- iflix - free for 1 year for unifi
- netflix ( free 1month but i dont think will continue to use it)
- my own movie streaming server ( reason why i no need netflix/iflix, can watch anything that i want to watch)

i dont hv enough time to work, watch movies, watch english series, finish my ps4 games etc... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

I guess 5Mbps will really need to be eliminated. Slow for today's standard, imagine your data on phone is faster than that. YouTube can watch Full HD but second device will suffer.
*
not all people able to pay faster internet. some people just need internet for light usage only and want to pay cheap as possible.
if u say 5mbps slow for today standard, imagine those people that still use 1mbps streamyx tongue.gif
