Hearing all about your problems made me really dumbfounded sweat.gif

I've been driving my CFE for three years now and apart from minor problems, nothing really 'breaks down'.

Thus I'm more convinced that the batch with least problem is the 2013 batch sweat.gif

Anywhere to change the seats to leather? Do they have an option for that?

Dear fellow Preve owners,

I have to resort to social media since Proton is being totally unresponsive of my inquiries. I have my Preve under works at a service center for FOUR MONTHS already, with no proper repair schedule given. I sent my car in April 2015 and right now still waiting for parts to arrive. For a locally assembled car, I'm totally surprised that it turned out this way.

Even the service center aren't able to provide me with the answers since they have to rely on Proton for the updates. When I called up the customer care hotline, the operator gave me a shit reply "Encik kena tunggu service center bagitahu nanti". They're passing the ball to each other with me caught in the middle.

Worst thing is, all these while I have not received even ONE phone call or a personalized e-mail from any of officers to apologize and clarify the situation despite the problem coming from their OWN FAULTY PART.

Anyone with advise on this? I need to go straight up their management. Calling up WeCare/ICare is just a waste of time.

That'll be the next step. Still giving them chance to sort things out.

i think you should email to proton (wecare) and tell them your story
i think it is the closest link to the management..
but if you already manage contacted proton management please share with me.
i had the same problem.. the car fixed already, but i have issue to discuss with them.

Funny you asked this. Only yesterday I have ordered a set of faux-leather for the preve.
You can choose any colour/shade, and thread colours, and also a little customization on the design.
It should arrive in a few days and installation takes a few hours. Once done maybe I will share some photos.
I chose black + dark grey for the leather. No preference on the thread colour (suprise me)
Cost less than 1k all in.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.Did they manage to sort out the vibration?Could it be due to improper fitting of the certain parts during replacement?

QUOTE(winners8 @ Sep 2 2015, 08:17 AM)
The whole problem is the mechanics in some of the SCs are not adequately trained to handle major repairs as compared to those in the assembly line.  Inadequate and/or incorrect tools/equipment, as well as improper attitude are the other factors.

An update and I'll try to make it as brief as possible.

The Proton technician at COSE (rather senior, experienced and knowledgeable than the previous one who attended to me earlier) test-drove my car and confirmed that my car is problematic. He mentioned "kereta kau tak sedap bawa". He drove my car around, driving it at low speed around the service centre and then at high speed on the highway.

Now there is a lot of vibration and rattling sound everywhere in the car on the dashboard, below the gear knob and at the back seat of the car, coupled by loud engine sound. The throttle response also is messed up with a subtle "tak tak" sound when stepping on the pedal, with jerks during low speed acceleration.

Things to be rectified (on the next appointment, minimum 1 day to complete) :-

1. Change gearbox mountings
2. Change engine mountings
3. Do alignment due to the steering/wheels that are out of alignment
4. Either clutch or CVT adaptation, forgotten what he said.

There is hope that my car can be restored to its original glory, maybe better.

Don't worry too much about it. It's just some bad batches of the Preve model. I have asked the guy if there are a lot of cases with the gearbox of the Preve Turbo and he mentioned about 1% or less are affected. There will be cars which will show problems with the gearbox as the part is mass-produced. Not too sure it is a valid reason though as the gearbox may be imported from somewhere else (other countries) with quality control. Just a case of bad batches.

Faulty gearbox is one thing. Rectifying the problem is another thing. Although Proton may have replaced the gearbox, it appears that there is a lack of coordination or control in ensuring that the car is in tip-top condition before it is released to owners. After collecting the car from the workshop, I have visited the service centre twice after problems crop up one after another. And I will have to go to the service centre for the 3rd time, hopefully to have all problems fixed once and for all.

I can guess that your inlet hose is replaced. That hose needs replacement once in a while because of exposure to blow-by gasses that rejoins intake for emission purpose. If you do not care about emission and want reliability, then use oil catch tank. Luckily you have replaced the intake hose soon enough. If it has broken, sand particles can erode your turbo fin plus wear engine parts.

However I cannot agree to the technician's argument that replacing the intake hose will cause more leakages due to being more direct.

Hose needs replacement once in a while? Hopefully not too frequent. That thing won't be too cheap judging from the size of it.

Because rubber hates to come in contact with oil.

It costs around RM70 if not mistaken.

Not too bad if it is below RM100. Unlike the silver plastic piece on the gear knob which I read costs RM90 per piece (which looks more like RM5)

Nice..where did you orders yours? This does not void any of the warranty right?
I assume this includes the door trimming as well.

Yea man..pictures would be nice.. :-)

You cannot remove the front grill alone, you have to dismantle the front bumper than you have access to the grill..

Interior panels can be very expensive. Like the glossy faux wood panel, one piece alone can cost near a thousand, so don't break it. One of the reason for the price is because these part number actually include the whole assembly, although you needed only one plastic part.

Another one would be the turbo, break any plastic part, you actually have to pay the price of the entire turbo assembly. There are no separate part number for each. Hence the cost difference when you maintain one car in official SC vs outside workshop that source from kedai potong.

Just recalled another part. For CFE/Premium/Turbo, you see there is a shift lock release cover? If you lose that cover, you have to purchase the whole gear lever assembly. Oh well.

First you got to tell your requirement, limitation and what you want.

Hi guys,

About to make a purchase for a Preve CFE.
My wife and I needed a new car. We thought our current saga was quite unsafe. The economic weather didn't look all that great to buy an expensive car as well.

We didn't expect much when we went to the showroom for a test drive.
But the salesperson was very patient and good to us. We actually tested Iris and Preve CFE like 6 times.
Story short, I am pretty amazed and proud of where Proton is going towards. It might look cliched but I felt a sense of pride when we finally decided to buy a Proton.

I would like to ask the forum's opinion on adding a reverse camera for the car, should I buy the one the showroom suggested (RM450)? or is there a cheaper way to add a camera and still keep the warranty for everything installed on the car?

Also, we are getting the CFE because we heard that the IAFM+ feels underpowered.
Would it be better to get the IAFM one if we wanted a quieter car?
Is there an alternative to adding a reverse camera on the IAFM+ Preve without spending too much as well?

Thank you.
