QUOTE(leekangtao @ May 17 2017, 10:11 AM) same I also haven't yet topped up the gas for my aircon. This is just to be pre caution if gas leaked in future for my aircon. For environment, I don't care la we only live 60-80 years old. ozone will not be gone for near future coz of r22 gas It is not you to care. Your next generation and your kids.

Hi Guys,
Need your all recommendation on the air conditioning.
1. Bedroom Size = 19ft X 20 ft = 380 sft 2. Usage Pattern = 1 Hour (730pm - 830pm) = 2~3 hours (10pm - 1am) = 2 Hours (Additional Usage/Day)
My priority are cost saving & durability of the aircond itself.
Appreciate if you guys could help give recommendation on brand/model.
Thanks

Just a quick survey. I'm looking for 2 hp air-cond for my living room. Between buying branded basic non-inverter model air-cond like Daikin/Pana and premium inverter model air-cond brand from China say Haier/Midea/Hisense, Both with SAME PRICE. RM2k~ Which one is better? Branded/basic non inverter or Non-branded/premium inverter? SAME PRICE! Please give your comments!! Really need it.

what is the advantages of ceiling type aircond vs the wall type?
i live in condo, i plan to put the aircond above entrance door(for easy maintenance) to cool down my living room which is 15ft from the door. i assume the ceiling type can reach further

QUOTE(VeeJay @ May 17 2017, 04:52 PM) lol...exactly...i even have unknown brand that has been running for last 19 yrs! I dont understand the notion of aircon doesnt last The main point is the cost.. The newer inverter aircons run a lot lower costs and you gain the ROI (returns on Investment) within the number of running hours as compared to a conventional aircon.. So if you are paying the monthly bill it makes sense to have a cheaper running unit.. like an owner or tenant who's paying the monthly electricity bill.. On the other hand if you are the landlord or the developer you will buy a cheaper initial cost unit.. As previously worked out an inverter can get back its cost difference within 2 to 3 years of its run time and saves you money then after compared to the non-inverter..

If you put at a corner or at the end, you lose the advantage.

My Daikin inverter aircon FTKD 2hp died recently (cannot turn on, only fan mode works) and the repairman said that the electronics/pcb died and fixing it would not be worth it. I can't remember exactly the reasons given but one of them he said was that the model was out of production and it would be more expensive to get parts.
So I need recommendations in the 1.5hp-2hp range. Even when it was working correctly, the cooling power for the FTKD Daikin was quite mediocre for a 2hp aircon. I'm looking at Panasonic inverter models (premium/elite) and want info on durability/cost savings etc.
Update after calling Daikin support - The support guy asked for the error codes (there were about 5) and he said that the electronics probably needed to be changed for about 1k+.
